Dwyane Wade had his ex-wife arrested and charged with “child abduction”
The ex-wife of NBA star Dwyane Wade was arrested and charged with “child abduction” in Chicago over the weekend. According to the Associated Press, Wade has asked a judge to terminate Siovaughn Funches-Wade’s visitation rights with their two sons.
The couple divorced in 2010 and Wade was awarded custody of the boys in March 2011 due to Funches-Wade’s erratic behavior in court.
Wade’s attorney, James Pritikin, filed an emergency motion today to terminate Funches-Wade’s visitation rights, just hours before the Miami Heat were to take on the hapless Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Miami.
According to the AP, Wade, who wanted to spend Father’s Day with his sons, sent his sister to pick the boys up at Funches-Wade’s home in Chicago to catch a flight to Miami on Saturday. But when Wade’s sister arrived at Funches-Wade’s home, there was no response at the door.
When police arrived on the scene hours later, Funches-Wade walked out of the home without the boys who were inside the house with a family friend.
According to Cook County Sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki, Funches-Wade was charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest.
Funches-Wade, who has emotional problems, was transferred from the jail to a local hospital after complaining of shortness of breath.
Wade hired a private jet to fly his sons to Miami Sunday morning for Father’s Day together. Upon landing, Wade’s oldest son son told him the family friend, Nadgee Alarcon, slapped him on the head.

It is quite unfortunate that the children have to go through this public drama with their parents. I am somewhat biased as it pertain to child custody issues. In most cases, it takes a whole lot for a judge to award custody of the children to the father instead of the mother. In Siohvaughn’s case, she continuously interfered with Wade’s visitation, failed to show up for divorce hearings, pulled the children out of school so he couldn’t pick them up and outright refused to comply with other orders issued by the court. On top of that, she fired approximately 9 attorneys in less than two years. I remember Wade’s attorney requested that a psychological evaluation be given to her because she was unstable. I’m not sure of the outcome, but maybe the findings helped the judge reach that conclusion to remove the children. Sometimes instability, anger and hatred lead the non custodial parent to take their frustrations out on the children. I just believe that it’s better safe than sorry.
Shid, I would probably be crazy too because who knows all the mess he put her through. She wasn’t always crazy and she is obviously crying out for some sort of attention.
I hope she gets herself into therapy, not for Dwayne’s sake or for the court’s sake, but for her children and her own mental health. She seems so mentally and emotionally broken that she needs the help of a professional to get through this. If she ever hopes to regain custody of her kids she needs to get herself together. Forget about Gabby and Dwayne, that part is over, it’s time to focus on the kids and yourself.

Sorry, no matter what, if they had an agreement she should have stuck to it. There’s too many situations where parents forcefully AND unlawfully keep their kids like this, and then next time they have the children they end up dead or missing. Her mind isn’t right so I hope she gets the help she needs. It was Father’s Day and if they had an agreement then he deserved to see his children.

Brenden, she lost custody because she kept defying court orders, kept firing attorneys, kept not following the judge’s orders and was even ignoring her attorney’s requests and orders… in other words, she went to court thinking her getting full custody and a chit ton of support was a done deal and when things didn’t go her way starting showing out like a common hoodrat and the judge in their case decided that because of her behavior she was not mentally capable of raising those boys and gave them to D.Wade with her having visitation. This latest stunt will probably have her having only supervised visits next

She should have pulled herself together for the sake of her children, she should have not let her hatred of him consume her to the point that she started acting certifiable because now she’s lost what is most important and she can’t really blame anyone but herself. I don’t care what he did to her during the marriage or after, your kids come first. Prophets are called, they are chosen by God himself, every one attempted to run from the job but God brought them back, anyone who proclaims themselves as a prophet without being specifically chosen by God and having that choice confirmed is false and you should run screaming from whatever they are trying to tell you. The bible speaks of false prophets in the last days, we see the evidence of false prophets, the devil is a lie and sneaky and will use all kinds of people who look good to drive people further from church and yes these false prophets know the Word, speak the Word but do so in a way that the real message, the real purpose is overlooked, convoluted, twisted, or is just so derogatory that people refuse to take heed and truly listen. I belong to a bible based church that encourages me and everyone in the church to do our own check in the bible of whatever my pastor or any guest pastor says on the pulpit or off. Ms. Everything……everything you are saying sounds logical, but when emotions are involved you and I both know that we don’t always behave in a logical fashion. I know of one time my ex-husband made me so angry about something with my child….that if I had a gun at that time I would have killed him. Of course I look back now and know it would have not been worth it, but my emotions were out of control. We are humans…not robots, and many times our emotions drive our actions.

I will not throw D wade under the bus. Just because his ex did xyz back in the day doesn’t mean she gets a free pass forever, she can be wrong. I believe kids need both parents and I wish this could be handled privately. I also think even if she loses her rights legally D Wade will still let her see the kids. This is just a sad case all the way around. The kids lose sadly.

However, when you are ball playing millionaire and police report is made all anonymity goes out the window. As much as I like to side with her, it’s possible she IS NOT WELL. When you have two small children and you aren’t quite sure what the other parnet will do, what are your options. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

The final step is get your attorney to ask for psy eval. To get to this place, other avenues have been exhauseted and the parnet in question HAS more than likely CUT THE DAMN FOOL.

Daisy, she won’t lose visitation unless she seriously harms those kids and I mean serious physical harm. More than likely, if the judge doesn’t feel she can be trusted to abide by the custody schedule then she’ll end up with supervised visits. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens if she doesn’t have a good excuse for not being there when his sister came to pick the boys up. Separating custody in a way that works for both parties is a sad thing and rarely does it actually go smoothly. This stuff happens all the time it’s just that in cases like this it ends up public knowledge but everybody knows someone who has been through this

When that judge first held her in contempt for not following his orders, she should have stopped what she was doing, pulled herself together and chalked D.Wade up to a loss and went on about her business with her kids. No man, no woman that man has moved on to is worth me losing my children. When I filed for divorce and within the hour I left the state, I had kinapped our son. I pulled myself together got an attorney and played along with his games and opted out of no proceeds from home, retirement, child support. I SAT QUIETLY FOR 5 years and when he least expected I wrote the State Attorney’s office and got an GOD AWFUL amount of child support. Sometimes you got suck it up…and you got to be built for certain things.

I am torn on this topic. Working in “the system” for a short-time, the goal is for reunification. It takes a WHOLE LOT to get custody taken away from mom. In one I do feel that his money and affluence helped him, in another I feel that Sivogaugn didn’t help her cause. If she does have mental problems that would have helped if she would have gotten help. Now, the kids are put in an awkward position. They are at the age now where they can have a voice, maybe not final say in where they want to be. As much as they love their mother, DWade has too much other things to offer. I assume they will be traveling with him to London in a few weeks. I wish couples could find that love they once for each other and use it to work out something for their kids. Just because Mom and Dad aren’t together doesn’t mean kids can’t grow up knowing what a healthy relationship is.

a lot of these mentally unstable women (and this is kinda taking it far but…) wind up doing something harmful to the kids eventually. she has a pattern of behavior that has not STOPPED.
wade has NO AUTHORITY to take away her kids. a judge and an appeal judge have both ruled that she is not fit to provide care to these kids and THEY awarded full custody to him. he would NOT be a good father if he left the kids with her just because her mother took him in back in the day or simply because she is their mother. he SHOULD fight for custody given her lies and behavior. is it a crime for a man to want his kids when 2/3 of them don’t these days?
she has to take the shyt with the sugar. she shared the spoils in the good times but she has to accept that her role is now relegated to mother and not NBA wife. she has PERSISTED in her defiant behavior and she has to be penalized.

Trying to figure out how this is all Wade’s fault and she has no blame in this? If the agreement was the sister would pick the kids up at an agreed upon time to catch a flight to go back home she had to know there would be consequences if she didn’t abide by that agreement . Even after police showed up she tried to pretend the kids weren’t there. From all reports her behavior has been unacceptable throughout this entire process. She needs to get her life together for her and her kids. I’m sure if she starts acting normal she’ll get visitation rights and she may be able to eventually get joint custody but right now she’s acting a fool and not obeying court orders! Wade isn’t controlling her behavior she is. She needs to let go of the past and handle her business for the sake of her kids. The kids are old enough to see whats going on and she needs to stop.

I’m Team D.Wade on this one. How is what she and her parents did for Dwyane back in the day, relevant now?? Relationships/marriages end and people are allowed to move on. People are questioning his loyalty but where was her’s when she was lying on him about giving her STDs and allegedly cheating? As with all custody cases, I feel for the children, but I won’t fault Dwyane for doing what seems to be best. If they had an agreement, both parties should follow it…and she didn’t so she has to suffer the consequences. HER actions got her arrested. She seems to need professional help.

When the ex-hubby(RIP) was dragging me to court the judge finally decided to send us to family counseling. A lot was learned about his behavior. He was able to talk to the mediator and then myself. He had unresolved issues from our marriage and the fact that I had more children and that I changed my last name. There were things that he was mad about that I just could not understand. HE finally said it after like out 4th session and it made sense to me. He couldn’t tell the wife why he was mad so he used the kids against me. It all came to a hault. I don’t know the situation with D.Wade and his ex but I hope that it gets worked out for the kids sake!

As for the game, yeah there were some questionable calls but there’s questionable calls in every game. If folks went back and watched the Bulls when Jordan played they’d see that the refs made it damn near impossible to guard him. Same with Shaq. Opposing players always complained about it. Not saying superstars should get calls that others wouldn’t but, it’s how the game has always been.
I actually think that because of Harden’s blatent flopping throughout the playoffs the refs may be holding their whistles. Dude is ridiculous.
The NBA would want nothing more than to have Lebron be the villian to Durant’s hero because Durant is young, skilled and has a team that ensures he will be in the hunt for years to come. In most entertainment you have a good guy and a heel and a lot of folks have already decided that they don’t like Lebron for whatever reason.

I remember watching “what dreams may come” with Robin Williams. His kids died and the movie is about heaven being what you make of it. All he wanted when he died was to be with his kids. He was being lead by this beautiful Asian girl and it was his daughter. She said that she wanted to be her becuase when they were together on earth he saw an asian woman ans said that she was beautiful and his daughter wanted him to look at her look that.I’ve always made sure that my kids father let my girls know that they are beautiful because it all starts with Daddy!
She looks sick in the mind someone should intervene and keep those kids away from her she is too unstable imo she could go to drastic measures to keep getting back at DWADE

Apparently the situation between those two is intense and if that be the case then she should know she cant so much as blink the wrong way. She has to follow the court ordered document. If she was home then she should have answered the door and there wouldnt have been a need for any one to call the police on her. Trust and believe if the tables were turned she would have called the police as well. Its sad to have to live by a document concerning your own offspring and the other parent but thats what happens when there isnt a good relationship between the two parents..jmo

When did she get the kids? Did he just wake up and decide that he wanted the kids with him on Sunday. he has full custody? Did he cut the weekend visitation short without warning?I think the older boy probably did something like call his Daddy or open the door when the police came- Yes, I would be crazy too it the kids I love hated me. I dont condone Wade not allowing her to at least see the kids but after I read the court documents and transcripts, I have no sympathy for this heffa what so ever. She even got burnt while he was on the road and told her bff about the shyt

It’s sad how Wade is treating her. He would be nothing if it wasn’t for that girls mother taking him in and getting a tutor to help him when he couldn’t pass a test. Not sure what happened or if it was the last pregnancy that made her act a certain way or damn, it could have been Wade. No one knows, she did go off to college while Wade stayed at her home with her mother. He at least own his ex wife’s mother by putting , or even forcing her into some type of treatment because she needs help and the only ones suffering are the children. Now the oldest said he was slapped ,now they should look into that but also take into consideration if those kids are being told to say those things. He’s trying to make her life a living hell and he has those kids all the time, I understand it was fathers day but what were you planning on doing with the kids when you had to play a game that day as well.women do the same thing and it’s wrong.
