Shellie Zimmerman pleads guilty

The wife of George Zimmerman, the night watchman who shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, has officially filed for divorce, reports ABC News (via Mediaite.com).

George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of killing Trayvon, was stopped for a second time for speeding — this time in Lake Mary, Fla., a city just south of Sanford, where he shot Trayvon in February 2012.

Shellie was in court to support her husband every day of his murder trial in July. But George apparently abandoned her after he was acquitted by an all-female jury. Zimmerman is rumored to be cheating on his wife, with the cash that was publicly donated to the couple to cover his legal fees.

From Mediaite.com:

Reports had surfaced last week that Shellie had long been “considering” a divorce from her husband, with marital troubles occurring before the fateful February 2012 shooting incident. ABC News confirmed this afternoon that she has filed the paperwork and a divorce is underway.

In a previous ABC News report, 26-year-old Shellie lamented that despite her attending his entire trial, he did not show up to support her during court dates related to her pleading guilty to lying to a judge about how much money she and George possessed.
