bug spray high

Officials in San Diego, Minneapolis, and Atlanta are reporting multiple overdoses of drugs laced with heavy duty bug spray that induces a “slow and lethargic” zombie-like drooling and loss of bodily functions.

CBS affiliate WTTV reports that the drug is called “Katie” or KD.

Drug dealers and other individuals lace marijuana or tobacco with heavy-duty bug spray, like Raid, officials say.

Paramedics report treating dozens of overdoses of KD a day. They sometimes treat the same individual multiple times in a single day.

“We find them with their clothes off, eating the grass, pulling dirt out of the ground and trying to put it in their mouth,” Major told WTTV.

Some drug users never recover completely from the overdose.

Police and health officials are trying to find the main source of the drugs.
