Actor Luke Perry, pictured left, suffered a massive stroke and is hospitalized, according to TMZ. Former NBA star Kenny Anderson is also hospitalized after he suffered a stroke.
Perry, who is best known for his starring roles on Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale, suffered a massive stroke at his Sherman Oaks, CA home. Paramedics responded to the actor’s home around 9:40am on Wednesday.
The 52-year-old was recently seen filming episodes of Riverdale on the Warner Bros. lot, according to Hollywoodlife.com.
Anderson, 48, is recovering from a stroke he suffered at his Pembroke Pines, Florida home. Sources tell the NY Post Anderson was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol but he wasn’t taking his anti-hypertension medication enough.
Natasha Anderson, Kenny’s wife, issued a statement Tuesday thanking those who expressed concern for her husband.
“Our family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and love that we have received over the last few days. We appreciate you continuing to respect our privacy as Kenny heals,” the statement read, according to the New York Post.
Anderson, who played for 9 NBA teams over the course of his 14-year career, currently coaches the mens basketball team at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn.
A stroke is a medical condition caused by lack of blood flow to the brain or bleeding in the brain resulting in cell death. Women have a higher risk of strokes than men.
