A reality TV contest winner and her husband were arrested and charged with the beating death of a 3-year-old child on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Simpsonville police arrested 29-year-old Ariel Robinson and her husband Jerry Robinson, 34, and charged them with homicide by child abuse.
Police say the Robinsons are suspects in the murder of a child, Victoria Rose Smith, who died by multiple blunt force injuries.
Police responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive child who was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital, Fox Carolina reported.
According to arrest warrants, the injuries were inflicted by the Robinsons. Police didn’t say what relationship the couple had to the child.
Ariel Robinson was the winner of season 20 of Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America.”
In an interview with Fox Carolina News after her win, she said she was a mother of five.
Ariel was also a former ELA teacher at Sanders Middle School until 2019.
Child protective services told police they are aware of the arrests and they are “taking appropriate action with any children remaining in the home after evaluating safety and risk”.
The Robinsons are being held at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond, according to Fox Carolina.
