B. Smyth is a hot new artist whose infectious dance track "Twerkoholic" is heating up dancefloors on both sides of the Atlantic!
I was sent this video to post and at first I thought, "Oh, just another Twerk Song." But this kid can really sing! As adults, we might not understand the whole "twerking" fad, but twerking has been around forever. This is nothing new.
Check out the official lyric video below. And if you're into the twerking thing, B. Smyth aka @Therealbsmyth on Twitter is holding a Twerk Contest on his Twitter Page.
Tameka "Tiny" Harris and Pretty Hustle Management introduced new girl group French Kiss to Atlanta movers and shakers at an Atlanta nightclub over the weekend. French Kiss consists of four females who are targeted at a slightly older demographic than Tameka's girl group the OMG Girlz. French Kiss performed live on Sunday at the 595 North Club on Atlanta's south side. What do you think of their look?
Singer Tiara Thomas, best known for her duet with Wale on his single "Bad", explained how the groupie anthem came about.
“I was in Atlanta with one of my friends I went to school with; she was my manager at the time. She’s like,’Hey, let’s go to Atlanta for spring break, just to go somewhere,’ Thomas recalls. We went and I had a fake ID. I was under 21 at the time and we just wanted to go to the club. So we went to the club and Wale was there. It was like, ‘Hey, there’s Wale, let’s take a picture with him.’ Wale listened to it, and he really liked it,”
Up-and-coming R&B singer Junior is creating quite a buzz in Los Angeles and Atlanta. The LA transplant sings, writes, produces, and crafts the beats for his own songs. Junior has been described as a cross between Bruno Mars and Miguel. Major labels are already showing an interest in Junior. Let him know what you think of his song titled "What Have You Done".
According to an industry insider, BET is grooming Atlanta rapper Miss Mykie to take over the '106 & Park' hosting duties from outgoing co-hosts Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J. According to the insider, BET is "cleaning house" in advance of Rocsi and Terrence's departure. Miss Mykie is among the fresh new faces that the BET honchos are looking for to revive sagging TV ratings.
Hey Sandra - I'm working closely with Deb and Mizay Ent on their latest upcoming artist, Tarvoria. Tarvoria is HOT in Atlanta right now. She is the winner of the Female R&B Artist of the Year at this year's Atlanta Underground Music Awards, and she will be participating in the Core DJ's Mixshow Live conference this weekend.
"Be Quiet" is the first single from Tarvoria's forthcoming album Street Couture.
You may not know who The Lylas are, but you will. Short for Love You Like A Sister, The Lylas have the sound, and more importantly, the look that the record labels are searching for. In addition to signing a recording contract, the Filipina and Puerto Rican-American singing quartet also signed a modeling contract with Robinsons Department Stores.

Rap newcomer Iggy Azalea is featured in a Complex magazine interview and photo layout. The XXL Freshman class standout was signed by Interscope Records after she caught the eye (and ear) of Grand Hustle founder T.I.
Yesterday, Grand Hustle released the first single off Iggy's debut album, The New Classic, due out this Summer. The single is titled "Murda Bizness". T.I. hopes you will embrace his artist as a white female rapper with faux urban roots. The single features Iggy's mentor and is produced by Bei Maejor. Listen to "Murda Bizness" after the break.
The 21-year-old Australian rapper's first track "PU$$Y" went viral on YouTube last year. But even though she's being promoted as an over-sexualized rapper, she says that's not really her.
COMPLEX: You’ve been criticized for being overly sexual IGGY AZALEA: "To a lot of people, a powerful, sexy woman is vulgar. When I first came out people said, she only raps about her vagina. I’m not a vagina rapper! [Laughs.] I talk about many other things."
WEtv premiered Trina Braxton’s hot new debut single “Party Or Go Home” today. As you know, Trina is an aspiring singer who once sang background for her superstar sister, Toni Braxton. The single's syrupy, uptempo production isn't layered on thick enough to drown out Trina's newly acquired Canadian accent. It's a decent debut single for Trina.
Stars Mary J Blige, Queen Latifah, Wale, French Montana, Meek Mill and more turned out to attend a party for Interscope recording artist Starshell at Headliner Market Group's infamous LIV On Sunday party!
British songstress Rita Ora is on fiyah right now! Since being introduced to the U.S. market by her mentor Jay Z, people can't stop talking about how she is set to replace Rihanna as Urban/Pop music's "IT" girl. Rita hopped on British rapper Tinie Tempah's new single "R.I.P." Fittingly, Rita sings R.I.P. to another girl's career. "Her days are OVER!," Rita sings.
"R.I.P." was written by Young Money rapper Drake and produced by dubstep kings Chase and Status. The tracks follows the release of Rita's debut single, "Party And Bullsh*t," off her upcoming album. Rita's new album is shaping up to be a classic, with contributions from Drake and big time producers, The Dream, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Ne-Yo, Rico Love and Stargate!
Rappers Common and Drake were feuding just a minute ago, but now it seems it's all love as the two shared jokes and giggles courtside at the 2012 NBA All Star game.
This Twitpic of rappers T.I., Drake, and singer B.oB. posing with a leggy blond left many of us wondering who she was. According to Punch Bowl blog, her name is Iggy Azalea and she's working closely with T.I. at Atlanta's famed Tree Sound studios this week.
Watch video of T.I. and Iggy vibing in the studio after the break!
According to my very credible west coast source, rap mogul Jay Z is positioning his hawt new artist, Rita Ora, to not only replace former Pop Princess, Rihanna, but also to take on Katy Perry for the Pop/crossover market. That's the same thing he did with Rihanna in 2008 with her hit record "Umbrella".
But now Jay Z has had enough of Rihanna's bizarre online and offline antics. Her reunion with her abusive ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, was the last straw for Jigga. He has reportedly cut all ties with the troubled singer, except professionally (he still manages her). Poor Rihanna can see the writing on the wall. And that's why she is unraveling faster than a cheap sweater.
According to a loyal insider who begged for anonymity, up-and-coming singer Rita Ora is being positioned to steal Rihanna's spotlight. According to my source, who is well-connected on the west coast, Rihanna begged her former abusive boyfriend Chris Brown to jump on her "Birthday Cake" remix to divert attention away from Rita, who has also been in the studio with Brown.
They say Rihanna is very nervous and constantly looking over her shoulder to see how far Rita Ora is behind her.
Sunday night's season 2 premiere of NBC's music reality show 'The Voice' shattered TV ratings records. The singing competition earned the highest non-sports related network TV ratings in 6 years. All similarities to other music competition shows ends after the opening credits roll.
Instead of a panel of judges, 'The Voice' features four celebrity "coaches" who choose teams of artists to mentor. This season's coaches are Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and country music star Blake Shelton.
Season 2's contestants included Alicia Keys' background singer, Jermaine Paul, who decided to go solo after backing up Keys for years. Keys sent a congratulatory recorded message that was played on 'The Voice'. Green and Shelton were impressed by his vocals, but Paul chose Shelton as his mentor.
Did you guys see the Miami Heat hammer the helpless LA Lakers last night? Once again the blazing Heat won a game without ball hog Dwyane Wade, who's out with a sprained ankle. Kobe Bryant was a non-factor in last night's loss to Miami. I didn't even realize he was in the game until the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter.
But this post is not about D. Wade and whether the Heat should trade him. It's about the halftime antics of retired NBA player Kenny Smith, who is now a sports analyst for TNT. During a discussion about Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, Smith aired a video montage of the superstars backed with a music video that was so lame I thought it was a comedy skit.
It turns out the girl singing in the video is Smith's daughter, Kayla Brianna, who just signed a record deal with Interscope Records. Tamar Braxton's husband, Vince Herbert, had a hand in bringing this kid to the label.
It really matters who you know in this music industry. You don't have to have an ounce of talent. Kayla is a pretty girl though. But pretty girls with long weaves comes a dime a dozen in a music biz that has a severe shortage of talent.
Comments Off on LaShon Dixon (T.I.’s baby mama) has something to say
After reading a few disrespectful tweets criticizing her youngest son, Domani, for following in his daddy, T.I.'s footsteps, LaShon Dixon took to her Twitter page to respond intelligently to the haters. LaShon let them know that the 10-year-old rapper is allowed to follow his dreams because he has exceeded both of his parents' expectations of him.
LaShon pointed out that her son has perfect attendance at school, is a honor student, respectful, and a talented "illustrator and lyric writer". And I might add that his speech is near perfect. So leave the boy alone! At least he's not in the streets gang bangin'.
Listen to Domani's first track, "Stacks On Deck", after the break!
Last week we told you that T.I.'s 10-year-old son, Domani, was following in his dad's footsteps by becoming a rapper. In this video filmed by MTV News, Domani corrects bloggers who incorrectly called him G-Money -- it's D-Money. Domani gets tripped up in a cute exchange with his playful dad over the spelling of his name.
Then D-Money gets down to the serious business of spitting a few bars for MTV. And what does the son of the King rap about? His money, of course.
Big bank rolls got my pants lookin' silly
Lil Wayne I'm illy and I got that milli
Step up in the building,
You see money flying everywhere,
Wall full of Prada's,
So you know I'm buying every pair
Domani and his older brother Messiah, 11, are the sons of LaShon Dixon (T.I.'s first baby mother).
Jay Z's new artist, Bridget Kelly, is being referred to as an Alicia Keys clone. The artist joins Willow Smith and Alexis Jordan on Jay Z's RocNation Records, and she follows in the footsteps of JZ protege, Rihanna.
Bridget's voice is so reminiscent of Alicia Keys that she replaced Keys during Jay Z's live performances of "Empire State of Mind". But does the music industry need another LSLH Alicia Keys clone?
Kelly's EP, titled Every Girl, dropped online today. The 1st single off the EP is "Seek & Destroy, written by The Dream and produced by Shea Taylor.
The track listing and download link for Every Girl are below.
Rihanna lookalike Miranda Brooke pours out her heart in this music video for her debut single "Hater". Miranda plays a stylist who catches her photographer boyfriend cheating with a fashion model. Miranda was signed to Def Jam Records by Akon's brother Bu Thiam. She is a refreshing young talent, who, we're told, has not an ounce of attitude or drama. That's why we're throwing our full support behind her!
Rihanna look-a-like Miranda Brooke just released her debut single titled "Hater" on Def Jam Records. The Chattanooga, TN native says “Hater” is a song about "ugly feelings. It’s about jealousy, insecurity, and weakness, but it’s honest.”
Signed by Akon's brother, Def Jam A&R Bu Thiam, Miranda counts TLC, Xscape, Aaliyah, and Missy Elliott among her musical influences.
"Hater" is produced by Sham (Sak Pase). A music video is currently in the works.
Bu wants to know what you think about his new artist. We have much love for Bu on Sandrarose.com. So be honest.
This is grown folks music right here. Real R&B! Houston native Mitchelle'l, who is half Eritrean, is an R&B artist signed to Grand Hustle Records, T.I.'s label. He was discovered on Myspace.com and brought to Grand Hustle Records by General Manager Hannah Kang.
Produced by Drumma Boy, "Only A Few" is Mitchelle'l's first official single, and it's hawt!
I already know what's going on
I feel it all in my bones
It don't make much sense trying to fight it, babe
Girl, I think you found the spot
I don't know if you know it or not, but uh
You got me feeling some kinda way inside
Rising Pop Star, E.B. Wright, daughter of the late west coast rap legend, Eazy-E, celebrated the release of her debut single, "What I Wanna Do" and her late father's birthday at Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood, CA today. Eazy-E would have turned 47 years old today.
In addition to the launch of her new single, E.B. Wright will be creating a signature shake in honor of her late father on his birthday. Proceeds from E.B. Wright's signature shake will benefit non-profit organization, A Place Called Home.
"What I Wanna Do" will be available to download on iTunes today at 6PM PDT (9PM EST).
Nicki Minaj's boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, 32, is a rapper now. If you believe the rumors, she dumped Safaree as her road manager so he might be hurting for cash. Samuels, whose rap handle is SB (short for Scaffbeezy), just dropped his first track entitled "My Watch" featuring Gucci Mane.
The track's chorus line goes: "Watch on my wrist cost more than a mansion." You can always tell when an uneducated thug isn't used to having anything.
I didn't listen to the track all the way through. But it's obvious who writes Nicki's boring lyrics.
I'm in the strip club with the big meat salami
And I don't make it rain/It's a SB Tsunami
I'm at the top/Never gone fall off
Handcuff a man cause they know a ni**a ball hard
