LudaDay Weekend Kicks off in ATL with Ciara, LeToya Luckett, Keshia K Pulliam
Thursday marked the official start of the annual LudaDay Weekend in Atlanta which runs through Sept. 5th. Ludacris kicked things off with a roundtable discussion for Georgia Tech students. He then took 1000 local kids to watch the Braves play at Turner Field. Later that night, Luda hosted a Falcons afterparty at a local nightclub with celebrity friends Ciara, LeToya Luckett (original member of Destiny’s Child), rapper Lil Scrappy and actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, and more!
Keshia Kinight Pulliam, left, and LeToya Luckett (formerly of Destiny’s Child) came out to support Ludacris at the Atlanta Braves game at Turner Field. On Saturday, Ludacris will throw a block party at the AU Center with free food and drinks for neighborhood children. Then on Sunday is the big celebrity basketball game at Morehouse gym between Ludacris’ team, featuring Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, and Justin Bieber’s crew. Doors open at 2pm and tickets are $10.
Check DTPRecords.com for the full schedule of events.
Ludacris says this year’s LudaDay Weekend will be huge (video)

Ludacris stopped by the 11Alive studio to fill 11Alive viewers in on this year’s LudaDay Weekend from Sept. 1-5th. Ludacris says this LudaDay weekend will be the biggest of the past 10 years.
The most anticipated event is probably the celebrity basketball game featuring NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, in addition to other local celebs. Luda’s team will take on Justin Beiber and his crew. Luda jokingly calls Bieber his “mentor” who he goes to for advice on women. Even so, Luda says he’s definitely not going to let Bieber win the game.
Tickets are $10 and the proceeds will benefit the Ludacris Foundation. Visit DTPrecords.com for a full schedule of this weekend’s events.
If you’re planning on attending the LudaDay weekend events, you will have to contend with near gridlock traffic in downtown Atlanta. Not only is this Gay Pride weekend, but there will be other conventions and professional sporting events competing for spectators this weekend as well.
Beyonce opens four night stand in NYC with controversy
Cabaret singer Beyonce’s four night stand at New York’s Roseland Ballroom sold out in 22 seconds — thanks in large part to ticket scalpers.
Bey opened her 4 night stand last night wearing a shimmering gold dress designed by her mother Tina Knowles, and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.
Fans, rather, Stans lined up for hours before the show even though they already had tickets in hand. The delirious Stans packed the 2,500 capacity ballroom to hear Bey belt out lesser known tracks from her ’4′ album.
The concerts were described by one industry insider as “brilliant album listening parties organized for the fans,” which she hopes will spark slumping sales of ’4′.
But Beyonce’s opening night didn’t jump off without some controversy.
Kanye West and Jay Z accused of ticket price gouging

A few of our loyal readers are complaining bitterly about the cost of tickets to Kanye West and Jay Z’s ‘The Throne’ Tour. The tour kicks off at Philips Arena in Atlanta on October 29, and some fans say they can’t afford the outrageous prices that Live Nation is asking for tickets.
Loyal reader Maxie King writes:
The tickets for the Washington DC show are $265/Each in this economy? Talk about tending the throne, these two tired rappers are gouging the pubic, making Jay-Z and Kanye richer, but it won’t be me that’s for sure for two assholes. $265 is half of my car note, but they don’t care. Who do they think they are? Jay-Z’s rap is old and so is he, and Kanye is a Beyonce groupie. F-that Sandra. But the show will probably sell-out nonetheless
Rather than rely on reader quotes of tickets, we did our own checking. We learned that the cheapest ticket to ‘The Throne’ Tour at Philips is only $83. That’s not bad when you consider the magnitude of the talent onstage. I am speaking specifically of Kanye West, of course.
Everyone’s Talking About Alex Gidewon’s Private Bday Bash Tonight at Club Reign

The name on everyone’s lips this past weekend was Alex Gidewon, the uber successful club promoter with a string of lucrative nightclubs in Atlanta. Tonight, Gidewon, who co-owns AG Entertainment with his brothers, will celebrate his 40th birthday at the newest jewel in his crown of nightclubs: Club Reign.
Most holders of invitations to Alex’s private party at Reign believe they will gain admission to the Ultra private bash at Dubai Lounge next door to Reign, but unfortunately, they will not.
Please be clear: there are NO invitations to Alex Gidewon’s Ultra private bash at the exquisitely appointed Dubai Lounge tonight. If you are an A-lister, a baller or a shot caller in Atlanta, your name speaks for itself. Your aura of sophistication is all you will need to get inside Dubai. If the doorman has to ask who you are, you will be pointed down the sidewalk to Club Reign.
But don’t be embarrassed: you won’t be alone — you just won’t be inside Dubai Lounge sipping champagne with the rest of the ballers.
The stunning Moroccan styled Dubai Lounge was designed by Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs, Inc.
Happy birthday, Alex! Have fun tonight!
We corrected this post to reflect the fact that Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs, Inc. designed both nightclubs.
Jay Z, Kanye Announce Official ‘Watch The Throne’ Release Date and Tour
As we told you last week, the official release date of the Watch The Throne collaboration LP by Kanye West and Jay Z might be pushed back. Today it was announced the set will be released on August 8 on iTunes, instead of August 2nd. It now makes sense that the super secret listening party for ‘The Throne’ will be held on August 1st at an undisclosed location.
Of course, yours truly was invited to attend the private listening session by our friends at Def Jam. We were assured that both Hip Hop Kings, Kanye West and Jay Z, would be in attendance (we really want to meet Kanye!).
When we asked (twice) if any other bloggers would be attending the private listening session, we received no response. So it is assumed that other bloggers are invited, and they just don’t want to reveal who. (Not that it matters.)
In addition to the release date, a tour was also announced to support the much-anticipated project, which Def Jam execs are already calling a classic. The 21-city ‘Throne Tour’ kicks off in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 2011, with a stop in Atlanta on October 9 at the Philips Arena.
Watch The Throne is available for pre-order at Watchthethrone.com.

MTV Snubs Rihanna; Judge OK’s Photog’s “S&M” Copyright Suit
If Rihanna didn’t have bad luck, she would have no luck at all.
A Manhattan judge yesterday greenlighted famed photog David LaChapelle’s multi-million dollar copyright suit against the troubled songstress.
According to the NY Post’s Page Six:
In a ruling released yesterday, Manhattan federal Judge Shira Scheindlin said the surrealist shutterbug “successfully alleges” that the songstress, her record label and video director may have copied his provocative images for Rihanna’s “S&M” video.
Scheindlin cited the “hot-pink and white striped walls,” “women wearing frizzy red wigs” and “black tape wrapped around a man.” Source
And yesterday, MTV delivered yet another blow to the 23-year-old pop star when the network released its nominations for the 2011 MTV VMA Awards. Rihanna received only two nominations for guest appearances on Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” and Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie.”
MTV ignored her hits “Only Girl In The World,” “What’s My Name,” “S&M,” “California King Bed,” and “Man Down.”
They say Rihanna’s unrealistic demands and Diva-like behavior is what led MTV to deliver the ultimate snub!
We believe it. We told you that her record label held a top secret meeting earlier this year to discuss their temperamental superstar.
