President Obama on Thursday apologized to Americans for lying to them about keeping their insurance policies when his problem-plagued Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, launched.
“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” Obama told NBC News in an exclusive interview at the White House.
Approximately 3.5 million Americans received letters from their insurance companies informing them that their policies would be canceled. Some Americans had the same policies for decades. Now they face higher premiums for coverage they don’t need, such as maternity coverage for men.
“We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this,” said Obama whose approval rating plunged to 39 percent this week.
