Jada Pinkett Smith to be honored by Essence magazine

Jada Pinkett Smith will be honored during Essence magazine’s 1st Annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon during Oscar Week on February 21 in Los Angeles.

The event will honor three of Hollywood’s finest who have helped to change and inspire positive images of Black women in television and film — both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes.

Jada Pinkett Smith, will be one of the three African-American women honored during the event, and will receive an award in the Film category.

The other honorees will be announced at a later date. (Source)

I love me some Jada. Lawd knows I do, but she is not among the most accomplished black actresses in Hollywood. Even Vivica’s resume is more impressive than hers. I think she is getting this for being married to the biggest star in Hollywood.

yeah I feel you on Woo..but i’ll give her a pass..she’s said before she was offered that role when Pac died and just wanted to work to keep her mind off her friend..she wouldn’t have done it otherwise..all of our fave actresses have done some questionable movies..hell Angela Bassett did Critters 4..enough said

I think the man is guilty. Proof of this would be the abnormal relationships of said singer and his stylist and now wife or the rumored relationship of a young artist and his manager. How could it be any different with a male mentor? When you look at some of the photos of these guys when they were growing up. The subliminal signs were there. Boys laying in bed together in their boxers?

There was sincerity in Raz B’s initial statement. Also, what heterosexual male would openly admit to be molested and then take it back. That’s an implication of being your gay yourself (in the eye’s of some) in this society.

Congrats Jada. Will and Jada are very giving without making a big deal out of it. I like they don’t call news camera’s in when they’re making donations.

If I hadn’t know the guy for “A Place Called Home” I would probably not know how generous Will and Jada are. If but for nothing more, they get props. Oh, Jada was good in “Collateral” and The Matrix3…or was that 2? Hmmm.

Something is really weird about Jada and Will. I’m convinced after watching I am Legend that Will Smith is on the DL. Then whenever you see them at events Jada always has this sucked in masculine persona she gives off. Something is really weird going on with them.

I hafta agree with you..Jada & Will are as creepy as their BFC (best friend couple) Tom & Katie. I truly respect the Black family and how they’ve held it down, but they don’t look cute together to me. He’s about 6ft tall & she’s a dwarf @ 4 ft nothing. They just creep me out…Please God…don’t let there be a sex tape out there on these two. That would be disturbing. One more thing…Jada look just about as nutty as she really is in that photo. ewww

hmmm..if u know anyone in the hollywierd circle their secrets are anything but..however, on the surface they are a strong foundation of black love and unity and that’s all that matters..what they do in the dark is really their business. It shouldn’t overshadow what they do for the community..They are a respected and powerful couple for a reason and the things I do “know” aren’t “hurting” anyone..so let it go
