Jay Z and Snoop pass on Pimp C’s funeral

According to Port Arthur police, rap superstars Jay Z and Snoop Dogg have decided to pass on attending the funeral of the legend Houston rapper Pimp C today.

The rappers had planned to be among the thousands paying their respects to the deceased rapper who influenced both of their careers. Their reasons for not attending are known only to them, but police sources say Jay Z and Snoop were told the city would not provide extra security to them and the rappers may not want to be inconvenienced by the large turnout.

That’s a shame because they would attend a music video shoot or a club grand opening in a heartbeat. But paying respect to a fallen brother is obviously not worth their precious time. There’s no bottle poppin’ or makin’ it rain at a funeral.

Pimp C’s funeral will take place at the Bob Bowers Civic Center at 11 a.m. The rapper will then be buried at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pimp C died last week of natural causes. He was 33.

i am hoping that them not attending his funeral was more than just because of the lack of extra security. if not then they are foul. pimp c has a huge fan base so of course there will be alot of fans paying their respects to a great man . jay and snoop should have expected that .

Jay and Snoop are superstars. International superstars. Do you really think the thousands of fans that will come to Chad’s funeral would allow them to just walk in and pay respects? There would be pandemonium. Ain’t nothing cute about having your clothes ripped off by fans at a funeral or being trampled by frenzied fans. Of course they need additional security and an entry and exit plan.

I checked out the Houston Chronicle who did a blow by blow on the funeral and Chamillionaire was the biggest star there and he is from Texas. It wasn’t a celebrity packed affair. Mostly local artists came.

Snoop was among celebs called(97.9fm..the Box)as soon as the News broke and show some Love and support to Chad Buttler’s family and fans.
I doubt if he had any beef with Pimp……he said Pimp called and left him a voicemail when he was in LA…B4 the House of Blues show.So I believe may be Snoop had personal reasons not to attend…..and not beefing with Pimp.
Rest In Peace Chad Buttler….you will be missed.

I am not surprised that Jay and Snoop came out…it was a fan farewell to Pimp C. Port Arthur is a small town and their police force isn’t big. When Big Moe died earlier this year…people were outside waiting to see who pulled up…screaming and hollaring when people were walking by grieving. It was sad and pathetic because some people don’t respect any situation.

Ok let’s just say that there may be other reasons behind them not attending I don’t think it’s just because they didn’t want to go! They attendended Ms.West funeral of course out of resepect for Kanye. I honestly don’t think it had anything to do with the fans being out of control because me being a huge fan of Jay-z If I saw him going to a funeral there is no way I would be disrepectful & start screaming & yelling or tryin to rip clothes off that’s just tacky!! & Snoop is known not to have beef with anyone so I doubt that either yall have to understand these are busy important people they are not us!! RIP Pimp it’s sad how we losing all of our folks around the holidays!!

I just read all the people that came out & it was more than just Chamillionare It was a lot of people Slim Thug,36 Mafia, Steve Francis, Letoya Luckett, Mike Jones, David Banner!! plus more I read were his mom stood up & spoke & was really strong & telling the crowd “if u say u love him & he was ur friend he got 3 kids out here holla at them, cause he going to be watching” I started crying I don’t know how it is to lose a child & I pray I never do I want my children to bury me not the other way around. It seems when we lose someone we mourn so deeply for them even if we didn’t know them personally. We just feel that connection especially being fans!!

I’ve seen some pics of Pimp C’s funeral and it looked as though all in attendance had to pass through some sort of a metal detector. From what I’ve seen he had a decent turn out, the people who wanted to be there made it dispite having to go through the full cavity search. Maybe Jay Z ans Snoop didn’t was to be bothered with all that shananigans.

I can understand why they didn’t come. Let’s just be for real here. It would have been pandemonium. Why come to a mans funeral and the fans act a fool. I am glad that J & Snoop stayed away. Condolences are sometimes enough.

Well I’m still not convinced that Pimp C died from natural causes. Fact is Pimp died in LA. Another fact is that it goes down in Cali. There was a local rapper where I’m from that was invited to Cali on the notion that he was suppose to be meeting with Snoop Dog and Snoop was suppose to sign him. The guy was set up and killed. This guy wasn’t just any petty little dude either. And I’m for certain that if he went all the way to Cali he would’ve had to have talked to Snoop, period. They took him to some house and kept saying Snoop was on his way. After the guy got tired of waiting he got up t leave. When he went out the door him and his friend were killed.

With that sad, makes me wonder if the game secretly think some people in Cali had something to do with his death. You notice they said he had just did a show with 2 Short. Well 2 Short wouldn’t at the furneral either. So this is probably Snoops reason.

As far as Jay, well… he’s to throwed to be in that kind of situation to someone he possibly just wasn’t cool with like that. Jay is way major than them dudes. Them guys be on drugs and still pretending to be hardcore. Jay’s not like that. Jay about to open up a like 22 floor hotel in NY. He has a successful mainstream clothing line, owns a percentage of a basketball team, has an endorsement with Budweiser, presently the president of Def Jam, has 40/40 clubs in 2 of the biggest cities in the US, and can put out a CD when he deems it necessary. Jay’s on a whole other level than them TX dudes could ever be. They getting money, but not no Jay money.

Oh and the incident you’re talking about with Snoop and those rappers took place in Las Vegas NOT LA!! That was some Bay Area beef!!

You are absolutely right, that did take place in Vegas. Snoop was performing in Vegas at the time. You are also correct on that being some Bay Area beef, but at the end of the day the person that beef was surrounding was respected and a legend to people in Cali, like Pimp is to TX. So even though the murder took place in Vegas, it was intiated in Cali.
