Gucci has been named the #1 brand in the world, according to Nielsen research:
In the latest survey, one in five global consumers said they would choose to buy Gucci (over any other luxury brand) if money was no option, making the Italian fashion brand that was revived by Tom Ford in the 1990’s the most coveted and aspirational luxury brand in the world today. I don’t think this means celebrities and socialites will put their Louis Vuitton or Hermes bags up for sale on eBay. It also doesn’t mean you’ll see less “Stars and their LV” posts on Sandrarose.com. LV and Hermes are still a considered status symbols to the elite who can afford them.
Speaking of Hermes: I saw this interesting photo of Pharrell Williams carrying a man-size Hermes handbag on his way out of his hotel in NYC yesterday. I searched other photo sites and there were no other pics of him with this bag. Which leads me to assume the bag isn’t his. Which is a good thing because a Hermes croc half that size would set him back about 17k.
He’s still a fashion plate though with his his LV scarf, and hat and jacket from his Billionaire Boys Club line.
He is such a cutie…mmmmm
His Billionaire Boys Club line is expensive as hell though! I cant justify that pricing…seriously
Why oh Why oh WHY do you continue to provoke me with pictures like this? I’m minding my own business being haved, and here he comes with this smedium….yes I said smedium….jacket and a bag that should be in my closet?
And, Terry W. you are so right. I am so tired of these celebrity clothing lines that are priced so high that they know no one with a normal income can afford.
I swear if Pharell was a few inches taller I would be all on that(lol) I hope & pray that bag is his lady friends judging from the size & color but he is different so you never know he may have used it for storage??? If not he can hand it over I will definitley put it to use(LOL) Anyway I always thought Louis Vuitton was wearing the crown for celeb favorites cause Kanye was about to put him outta business!! doesn’t he refer to himself as the LV Don??
That is a very interesting picture.
No offense, but I hate Gucci. Most of their stuff is overrated, overpriced and they truly pimp our community with.
I appreciate quality like the next person, but Hermes and Gucci use tactics that only up the price on their merchandice. When people at Hermes make you think there’s a long waiting list for a $40,000 purse but they just so happen to be carrying one that you have up for $60,000 and you believe that they are doing YOU the favor, you’ve been had…just like the other 10 who fell for it.
@ bsoul
WTH!!! $60,000 for a freakin bag?!! You can’t be serious. Is it made from special space age cowhide or sometihng? If not the ish is going to tear up in about a year (with regular use) like any other bag.
AreUForReal, Hermes bags are extremely overr-priced when they don’t have to be. Yes they make excetional leather goods (and other things) but they’re still over-priced. I’m not willing to shell out half a year’s salary for an over-priced anything. Everything in their stores is over-priced.
Truth be told, I’m not sure I’d go for the okie-doke even if I could afford it.
I’m gonna vote…”It’s his bag”..
I can’t recall where..But last year I remember seeing a pic of him with the same bag and was like “WTH!!”. I remember him even going on about how fly the color is..Oddly enough..I think it works..FOR HIM.
Start saving up ladies..Won’t be long till your man will be wanting a Croc Birkin…LOL
Can the NAACP help out us with the ‘objects’ these mega giants use to decorate our ‘community’? A grown man with a large purple purse, how is that a proper status symbol for a 10 year in the hood that can barely read? 1K will buy a lot of Hooked on Phonics.
^^^LOL! at your first sentence. You are a mess.
Hellava I see you made it out too, we are the last of a dying breed (lol) I couldn’t help it I had to say something!!
So what do they use black models? Black always worried about these expensive crap rappers run around w/ knowing they can’t keep up with their high interest loan payments. Sorry wealthy people aren’t taking their fashion Q’s from rappers.
Naima, that’s what I mean by them pimping the community.
Pharrell…ok we know you got money..You are two designer items away from looking sweet.
Who cares if they use black models…black folk always want a God that they can see….Don’t tell them to use black models tell them to give that money back to the black community in the form of financing magnet schools and scholarships to college..Just like when Jesse Jackson held Toyota hostage and got them to commit to 100 million dollars in advertising monies…I dont need to see your black azz in a camry. That money should have been used for engineering scholarships to historically black schools or to schools like MIT or GAtech or VAtech…black folk always got the wrong chip on their shoulder…..darn
Plush, for me, it’s not about wanting to see a god. I would like to know that we are being fairly represented since we represent a huge chunk of consumers. Still, I don’t want to see our community pimped; using high-profile Hip-Hop to tell us what we should be wearing, driving and buying. What about them using non-Black celebs sometimes?
I do, feel you on the money being better spent on schools and into the community. Other than Bill Gates and a few others, mainstream isn’t even looking at us like that. Truth be told, some of our more famous celebs, with oodles of money, aren’t even looking at us in America. They’ll run a country mile for Africa (and I’m not mad at that) but there are people here who still want to learn.
I have a Gucci purse, it cute. I wouldn’t have bought it but since it was given…I’ll wear it:)!!!
Pharrell looks like he is flaming with that bag…go put that bag up boo!!!
To each his own, but that bag look’s a little girlie.

Who did they ask in this poll? I’m sure that if they had asked the wealthy, the answer would be very different. Besides, if you are wealthy, you dont want to be seen in the brands that eeeeverybody likes. Most celebs even go for undiscovered names.
