I don’t think I’ve ever seen a stranger invite than the one trumpeting 106 & Park‘s Terrence J‘s birthday party next week. First of all, I had to read it three times to make sure I was getting it right. This is the part that stuck in my craw:

This year Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has passed the Entertainer of NY crown… So, you can only imagine how big this one is going to be.

The trouble is, the invite doesn’t say WHO Sean Combs passed the Entertainer of NY crown to. And furthermore, we didn’t even know Sean Combs was the Entertainer of NY.

Anyway, Terrence J is throwing himself a massive birthday bash fit for a King. His boys in waiting will be clothed in princely robes and he will adorn himself in majesty and splendor. His subjects will come by air and by sea to lavish gifts upon him.

You know how superficial industry folks are: to them you’re only as important as your latest achievement. And certainly Mr. J. has achieved much since his humble beginnings as, um, whatever he was before becoming co-host of 106 & Park.
