For whatever reason you won’t see the story of this missing 12-year-old on any of the major television networks tonight. Thanks to loyal reader Kenesha for bringing this story to my attention.
Taken from the San Francisco Chronicle:
- Police are searching for a 12-year-old San Francisco girl who has been missing since Monday morning when she told her mother she was headed to school on the bus.
Billie McGee never arrived at S.R. Martin College Preparatory School, where she is in the seventh grade and on the honor roll.
On Tuesday, San Francisco police Sgt. Steve Mannina said investigators are treating the disappearance as a missing persons case.
“No one’s heard from her,” he said.
Her mother, Tina Brown, said Billie has never run away. She fears the worst.
“Someone took her,” Brown said.
Brown worked a graveyard shift at San Francisco General Hospital on Sunday night and said she called her daughter first thing Monday morning to let her know she would be working late and could not drive her to school.
Billie agreed to catch a city bus on Geneva Avenue, as she has done before, and to head to her school near Candlestick Park on her own, her mother said.
“She was like, ‘OK, Mommy, but I gotta hurry,’ ” her mother said.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, Brown said. The day before, the family had gone to church and to the movies.
- Billie said goodbye to an aunt who lives with the family and left for the bus, her mother said. She carried her book bag and was wearing her school uniform: a black-and-white jacket with a white collared shirt and black pants.
Brown said she called the school, a small, private school that reaches out to low-income children and pushes them to pursue higher education, to make sure her daughter had arrived safely. But by 9 a.m., school officials told Brown that Billie still had not shown up.
“She’s a slow mover, like me, so I gave her another 30 minutes and called back. At 9 they said she still wasn’t there,” Brown said.
She said police have searched Billie’s belongings and have spoken with classmates and friends, hoping to find leads. She said they also confiscated the cell phones of some of Billie’s friends to make sure the girl had not called them unbeknownst to authorities.
“They’re checking everything, talking to her classmates, and no one knows anything,” Brown said.
She said inspectors also have checked the neighborhood for registered sex offenders.
In the meantime, the family covered the neighborhood with flyers Tuesday.
Billie recently made the honor roll, her mother said. She plays volleyball, participates in drama and is active in her church.
“She just made (honor roll) two weeks ago,” Brown said. “Her reward was to get a cell phone today.”
Billie is 5-foot-5, African American and weighs 140 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

So far MSNBC has aired this story this morning, and a local San Francisco station. I have been looking into any progress being made. Hope she is okay.
oh god..i hope she is found safe.
This is sad I sincerely hope that she is okay.
WOW…..I hope she is ok.
NOT ONLY WILL YOU NOT SEE IT ON CNN it’s not in the damn SF newspaper. Well it may be today – I havent checked, but it sure as hell wasnt in there yesterday. I searched for the article in the SF chronincle and it wasnt there. I am so worried about this girl. I dont know her, but her school is just a few blocks from where I live. I’ve been looking for her. I just pray that she is ok. I am so worried.
I hope eveything turns out ok. I dont let my daughter walk to the corner ( she 14) this is the reason why..this world is not like it use to be, back in the day.
CHILLS, CHILLS, CHILLS, up and down my arms. My heart is racing to no end. This sounds so close to home.
I drive my daughter to her bus EVERY day for fear of things like this. Her stop is two streets over and it’s dark at 630 in the morning. I would be no good if this were my child and my heart and prayers go out to this family. My daughter just turned 13. Is an honor student, in the 7th grade, plays volleyball and softball, has braces, wears the headbands, wants a cell phone all of the above. Hell I work at a hospital as well. She is damn near the same complexion. I cant finish typing this b/c I keep scrolling up and looking at her and wondering where could this child be. Who has her and WHY? I am truly saddened by this. I truly am. Oh Almighty return her safely to her home. Please!
Beautiful baby. My heart is truly aching and I want to cry. I pray for her family’s strength and for her safe return. God be with them all.
I live in Dallas and have not heard about this and have not seen it on CNN or anthing. I am just so tired of no one not caring when OUR children go missing. Things like this are why I am afraid to have children – I know I can’t protect them from the world.
This is sad. San Francisco and Oakland are pretty rough. She could be anywhere in the Bay Area by now. I just sure hope that more than a few people care to ask questions and search for her.
Our local news station KTVU Channel 2 has been giving this story a lot of coverage (so far). My prayers go out to the family. I could not even begin to imagine what they are going through
I pray she is okay…the world is just filled with so many sick, ruthless people. It is so sad…
my heart goes out to the family. please keep us updated on this since the news stations wont.
Since she’s not blonde with blue eyes, the national media is not going to pay her any attention. It’s so sad. I just pray that she’s found safe.
OMG… I can just imagine how Billie’s mom feel, I lost my daughter in a amusement park for 2min and that was not a cool feeling. I hope she is safely found now a days people are crazy. This is a very scary situation I don’t know what to say.
I hope she is ok. You are absolutely right, we will not hear about this story on most of the large networks and if you do it will just be a 15 second announcement. If she is not found safely by Saturday hopefully America’s Most Wanted will show her story.
Please get this babygirl home safe..we just started picking the jury for a little girl named Amber Harris that was abducted from her bus stop and I wish I get called for jury duty! This man raped and had children with his stepdaughters and the mother wouldn’t believe her kids, because of this he never got convicted, which allowed him to roam the streets..if she had only cared more about her kids then some deadbeat man, Amber would be alive now.. all of this hurts my heart
Her and her family are in my prayers…
Why is the world so crazy and evil??
What happened to this baby?..
shes a runaway its been confirmed
