I’m not a big fan of reality TV shows, but I will watch Monica‘s reality show which is currently taping in Atlanta. Monica sent text messages to her fans letting them in on all the details. Listen to the message below.

So Atlanta is having a real housewives as well. That might be interesting even though Ive never seen the housewives of orange county nor new york. However Atlanta might have a little flavor. I may tune in. I had no clue Monica was married. Congrats to her.

I must say she comes off as being humble, sweet and an inspiration to others AND I’ve always enjoyed her music. HOWEVER, if this show she’s promoting is the Housewives of Atlanta . . she needs to keep it real bc/ she ain’t a housewife, she’s a single mother with two children and an infamous baby daddy that is a thug and won’t acknowledge her in public b/c that is just what thugs do as Sandra has indicated in past blogs. NOW, if she’s doing a reality show exclusively about her life, being a single mother while maintaining her music career, MINUS “Old Boy”, I’ll the show.

Not feeling this one. I know nothing about Monica but I have watched the other housewife shows and I don’t think she should do this.

These women are not put in a good light. In fact that’s what makes the show so good there’s dirt on top of dirt. Being good and sweet is not entertaining. Oh well Whatever.

Also in regards to her not being a housewife. The other shows OC and NY always have one woman that’s not married but they do have a serious relationship going. Not saying anything against Monica but to explain how a non housewife would be on the show.

OK, so forget what you think you know and move the hell on……Now on a POSITIVE note, Congratz to Monica on the new show! I will be watching. I think it is a great way to reintroduce herself to the public. Back in 95, everybody loved and knew Monica. But over time with ALL the new breed of singers, she just kinda got lost in the midst (never in my eyes tho Mo!) of them all. By doing the reality show will help people get a feel for her and the woman she is now vs. the child she was in 95!! And I know Mo will def keep it REAL on the show!!! Unlike allot of these reality show. And come on now, its another great way to sell records!! Its all about the PROMO!! As Ive said before, get that Monica brand BACK together MO!!! You RULED in 98 and 99!! Its a different day, you cant just be a singer, you have to have your hands in everything to be successful. Who explained that the show is not the “Housewives of Atlanta?! Monica was vague on the text tape she didn’t really say what the show was about specifically. .AND Sandra has been wrong on a number of ocassions about information she’s provided, THEREFORE until the show is actually advertised on BRAVO or whatever network is handling the show, NOTHING HAS BEEN EXPLAINED. Whether she’s married or not (with or without children) isn’t the issue for me. My issue is that I have a problem with people, celebrity and/or otherwise, portraying to be something their not. I call them phony people. If the show is about her life as a mom, the pursuit of “re-establishing” her music career, and how she maintains as an individual (spiritually/emotionally) I’ll watch it. HOWEVER, if it turns out to be a bunch of buffoonery and GHETTO MESS. . .I won’t support it because I chose not to allow society to continue to portray (pimp) people of color as a bunch of low class, no moral fiber, tasteless, uneducated group of people (i.e. Flavor of Love, I love NY and all that other mess they show on the idiot box).

AND not everyone one on this post is “young” with multiple children and various sperm donors.

I cant stand reality shows. I wonder when we going to get back to a good ole sitcom. At least we knew they were fake – these reality shows seemed staged – but hey can’t knock the hustle so Monica get that money!

Stop Hating! Loves Monica!! And I love reality shows so I will definitely be tuning in. I don’t understand why she would be on Real Housewives of ATL though. Also thanks for breaking down her outfit…lol There should be a spot on the site where you show comparisons of how to get the look for less. Because I would have never thought that outfit was that expensive! I love her style but give me about 45 mins and I can piece that whole fit together with a very similar outfit for a fraction of the cost!

Just to respond to a few of your inquiries . . .Sandra’s word (unfortunately) ain’t as good as gold, therefore, the fact that she stated that she “KNOWS”, like every place else we get our information (i.e. mostly blogs and entertainment news), we, too, have to take it all with a grain of salt.

I am only hoping that Monica will “not” sell her soul just for TV time (money can make you do strange things). . .you know if she’s not the creative writer and has a “voice” in the production, what other direction can the show go, but “south”. . .”some” folks want to be entertained with drama and nonsense and that’s what reality TV provide. I’ve always thought Monica appeared to be sweet, charming, articulate and loves her momma and dem chilens! Monica seems really sweet and I know she can sing, but she better bring it with the first two episodes, otherwise people won’t stick around for the rest–the market is too flooded with reality shows.

I use to love Monica back in the day she and Aaliyah were my Beyonces of the 90’s. Me and my cousin use to debate over who was better she or Brandy. And I would always say Monica sings much better than Brandy. I use to get so mad at how long Monica use to make us fans wait for her albums. I swear she took forever to release another album after Miss Thang.
