It looks like the honeymoon is over for rappers in Hollywood. First Jay Z gets the cold shoulder from Hollywood bigwigs, and now 50 cent is feeling the sting of rejection.
According to Wooha.com, 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, was used as bait to sell the movie “Righteous Kill” to a major distributor for national release.
But now that “Righteous Kill” has been picked up by Overture Films – 50 Cent, who stars in the movie along with Robert Dinero and Al Pacino – has been erased from all promotion material.

Can you blame the movie distributor? Who wants to promote a movie with a real-life drug dealer in it? 50 Cent wasn’t even a good drug dealer. He routinely got beat down by neighborhood kids who stole his work and ran. That’s why he went into rap – to join the other posers and wanna-be fake thugs like Rick Ross.
…WoooHa, Inc. sources reveal that the real reason Overture cut Curtis out of the campaign is because their research and exit poll information showed that 50 actually was not the urban or young demographic box office draw they were hoping for. 50 basically can’t draw in the core demographic that used to buy his albums by the millions. The box office let down of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ should have been a hint of things to come. (Source)
A movie with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro wouldn’t need 50 Cent to sell it. It is the highest honor that 50 is even getting the opportunity to work with them. No way does he deserve to receive star billing with them. Whoever wrote this article is taking 50 waaaay too seriously.
LOL I LOVEe “50 Cent wasn’t even a good drug dealer. He routinely got beat down by neighborhood kids who stole his work and ran. That’s why he went into rap – to join the other posers and wanna-be fake thugs like Rick Ross.”

Anyway i highly doubt they need 50 cents “AUDIENCE” to make big box officer numbers……… that being said if hes a “STAR” or a main role in this character its really F**KED up to not include him in it if he actually ahd more than 2 lines he needs his face to be seen at least for a max of 5 seconds. And sandra youa re right hes a wanna be like rick ross but the kids like him i guess and his fake thugness..
I don’t think there’s a huge difference in either of the trailers. He wasn’t focused on in the initial trailer, although his screen time was considerably longer than the latter trailer. And he didn’t receive top billing in the 1st trailer. His name was listed on the top of the list for the additional actors, not the stars. If you look at the list in the first trailer that has 50’s name, you won’t see Al’s or Robert’s names listed there at all. He received top billing of the supporting cast, only. In the 2nd trailer, he is listed after Al and Robert and the title of the movie. I think they just made the promo more exciting. Don’t think 50 will have a major role in the file. I agree with you Sandra on the fact that they initially needed 50 to market to that younger demographic. But all they ever needed was Al and Robert together on screen. In my opinion, those two gets him on their own, young and old, black and white.

I agree. BUT it would make MORE money WITH him.
You’re talking Pacino & DeNiro- they will bring middle age White people (who do most of the movie ticket buying anyway) to the movies, true enough. But these two individuals don’t bring Blacks in.
Put 50 in the mix and you have another population that will come see the movie too- Younger Whites and Blacks. Sure, this population doesn’t bring in as much revenue as the aforementioned, but its MORE money none the less.
Personally, I saw the movie trailer. It looked good. I love Pacino & DeNiro; but not $10 a show enough! That would be a movie I’d wait to come on DVD and watch. However, now that I know 50’s on the bill, I would be more likely to go pay and see it at the theatre.
I like 50. A lot of other people do too. Putting him on the promos would not HURT the movie. It could only draw in MORE.
Yes guys…you all are exactly right! Ummm hmmm, ummmm hmmmm, ummmm hmmmm….
My inquisitiveness (I’m just a nosey ninja) has reached proportionate levels and I still couldn’t act interested in this story.
Somebody…somewhere…needs to do something! So we can talk about it. Ciara needs to fire someone else, Cassie and Diddy need to be spotted somewhere, The Game needs to come back at Bow Wow. Damn…
I noticed that he wasnt in any of the commercials. I figured his part must not be that big, (like TI in Amer. Gangster) so they didnt feel they needed to show him. With headliners like Al & Bobby, who needs 50 to promote a movie. I do plan on seeing though, and hope he does well on his part.
I PAID to see Get Rich or Die trying twice and bought the dvd the day it came out. I love that movie
@ CANDYCANE
I cannot believe you wasted gas money on that foolishness
get rich or die trying was good to me.
Hey! I liked Get Rich or Die Trying too! It’s like- To Each His Own!
I think 50 did a good job in that movie. I was proud of him.
Either way it goes 50 still getting paid!!
Also him and Ciara can’t keep a good movie role for nothing. Both of their movies TANKED!! One went straight to DVD!!
This movie is gonna be good….they could have got Common instead of 50, and it’s still gonna be good….ITA w/Bird….
Anybody remember the old guys from “Heat”
^^^^^^
BKLYNCHICK HAHHAAHHAHAHAH Nice comment
I think Fiddy should just leave the rap game alone and just fux with movies. It’s obvious his rap career is evaporating.
Can someone be so kind to FedEx me an energy drink, please. Thanks!
FTR: Again. Get Rich did not tank! Pacino and Deniro are big enough names to draw $100m for a movie with or w/o 50. Get over yourselves. Sorry, do your research.
Honestly I don’t know why ppl get so caught up in this fake rap thuggery… If ppl really think about it- if a real gangsta was selling all types of street drugs, why in the heck would he rap about it and put it on blast knowing damn well he could get caught up with the police?!?!?!?!?!! And even if these “thugs” were selling, it isn’t on any major level as they claim. Come on! We got to get our kids heads out the gutta and tell them what is fantasy and what is real cus the world ain’t no joke!
Two of my favorite actors together since “Heat” and they are on the same side this time. Really gonna see that with our without 50!!!!
I would have watched it big screen with or without 50, only coz i love Al Pacino and Deniro… Solid actors they are..
