As you know, actor Morgan Freeman was seriously injured late last night when a 1997 Maxima he was driving flipped several times and landed in a ditch.

We now know from TMZ.com that Freeman was lucid and “joking” with his rescuers at the scene of the accident.

So now all attention is focused on the passenger in the car, a woman named Demaris Meyer. We don’t know the extent of Meyer’s injuries, but we know this much about her from TMZ:

48-year-old Meyer is from Memphis, works as an executive assistant at Fed-Ex and is an avid gardener. One source tells us that Meyer is a very close friend of Morgan’s wife Myrna and is often seen at their house for get-togethers.

Freeman, 71, has been married to his wife Myrna Colley-Lee since 1984.

The jokes are flying all over the Internet, and most of them are not funny at all. But why was Freeman driving her car? Surely that’s not a good sign.

Women don’t usually give up the keys to their cars that easily unless there’s some type of emotional bond between the two of them. When a woman lets a man drive her car, she’s saying she’s more than comfortable with giving him complete control.
