StereoHyped‘s editorial director, David Hauslaib, was vacationing in France last week where some of our more popular shows are broadcast in English with French subtitles. To David’s surprise, MTV’s “Run’s House” is titled “Ghetto Pastor” by the French and the words “ghetto pasteur” are displayed on the screen throughout the broadcast.
Maybe there’s no clear translation for the words “Run’s House” in France? Or maybe the word “ghetto” has a different connotation over there than over here. I’m just guessing. (Source)
Doesn’t surprise me at all!
LMAO! Ghetto Pastor!!! there is alot of Ghetto Pastors running around the Dallas!
Ghetto ? ? wow … That’s those European’s yall supporting with the purchases of Louis’s and the like …
I guess he doesn’t care as long as he is getting paid.
I doubt they’d be able to do it if MTV didn’t let them.
I have yet to see the Rev in a episode, where he is actually in church. When and where does he pastor? He is always kicking it somewhere adn goign on tour rapping. What type of pastor is he supposed to be. I swear, so many wear that Rev. label as if it’s an everyday shirt. He’s no different than the rest of the money hungry pastors! His show erks me to no end!
Precious, relax… He doesnt allow cameras inside the church. He had money before he became a reverend and thats what his family lives off of. U are forgetting that he is Russell Simmons baby brother, so he’s never gonna be hungry. I, personally, like the fact that they dont saturate the show with their religion and they just show that they’re a regular family

Amen.
That is too funny even in France a word we choose to highlight is used. Not a word that White people ever used openly, but a word we thought was “cute” now look. lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol. Too funny we’re not the brightest, that could never be denied. Just like “baby Mama” took a life of it’s own we didn’t think. Even if I had a child out of wedlock(though I don’t) you couldn’t call me a “baby mama” you would have to say “the mother of my children”.
this show’s done anyways. i love his family, but i can’t get with him being a reverend one minute, then rocking the mic later that night. when he does that, i just stare at the screen in shock; preacher collar and all. i’m so confused by that. my grandmother used to always say you can’t serve two masters.
now that the show is poorly scripted, i’m no longer interested.

His lyrics dont talk about suckin this or pokin that. They’re the 80’s lyrics that we grew up to when fun was fun and sex didnt need to be a factor in lyrics. If his music was like, say TI, and he was claiming to be a reverend, then yes that would draw a red flag. I believe some of his new music is gospel… with that being said, what makes him different from Yolanda Adams or Marvin Sapp? Because they’re jumpin around the stage and he’s rapping?
**I agree about the show being poorly scripted. But thats better than watchin new york or flavor flav**

Run doesn’t actually pastor a church. The pastor that prayed with them when they lost the baby is the pastor of the church they attend. So Run is not making money from the church. He is an entertainer and that is how he makes his money. Run and his family are as far from ghetto as a rapper can get so I don’t know why the French station is calling him that. I guess ghetto is synonmous with black people in their minds. That’s if this story is even true.
I pray that Run and DMC mend their rift. I think it is totally insane that they are not on speaking terms. You’d think Jay’s death would have brought them back together.
I don’t think so, I think someone had edit this themselves. The powerful tool computer have.
In slight defense- they always change the titles of stuff to something way different from what we call it here. That’s why they speak French and we speak English! Who knows, maybe Ghetto has a different meaning in France.
newsflash! ghetto does NOT have a different meaning in france…try again
La Maison de Run……is all they need to say.
I’m pretty sure French people run and live in houses, so how can they not be able to translate? Maybe they think they’re being hip?? Who knowssssssssss
They probably think black people thinks saying Ghetto is cool and would appreciate that. When in fact it is not. I remember seeing a picture of a person in Africa selling hip/hop clothes and the name of the store was ni&&er, because that’s what they think American black people think that’s cool.

ghetto is a word originated in Italy to first describe a section of the city where Jews were forced to live… white Europeans have used this word as part of their vernacular since the time of the holocaust. It usually describes an area of town where minorities (racial, economic) live. Urban America has somewhat bastardized the word to describe a “lifestyle” of sorts.
As for why they’re being allowed to call this show ghetto pastor… I can’t say much, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the show’s producers were fully aware of it.

Whatup Hune
Why not show the whole side of the family, he is Rev Run. It’s fine for us to see him roccking on stage, the girls shopping and the wife doign whatever she does, the boys doing what they do, but not a rev actually seen pastoring in church or anywhere for that matter? They can keep it real, but not in church? I don’t if they will sway someone’s religious beliefs. if he is hown in church!
I swear HunE916 …you always have something ignorant and purely stupid to say!
Geesh, you must have a brain the size of a pea.
