Thank you to loyal reader Ateyaa for sending this video. Ateyaa is a hair stylist who took the time to make a video about taking proper care of our own hair rather than throwing dollars at expensive salon treatments.
Well, the “ladies” of the Long Hair Care Forum took offense and gathered their forces to attack Ateyaa! They hounded and harassed her until she felt the need to make a second video telling them to back off.
I don’t have anything else to say about those “ladies” of the LHCF. But clearly they think they are the end all be all of black hair care and they cannot tolerate any independent thinkers in their midst. I apologize if I have offended any of my loyal readers who are members of that forum.
I stopped the video when I saw she spelled “tutorial” incorrectly.

Damn that girl got some beautiful hair. Still I don’t miss going through all that mess to keep my hair healthy. With my dreads I don’t have to worry about anything. It still breaks when I color it as I have extremely coarse yet weak hair, but with the dreads the breakage is not noticable. I use the tea tree shampoo and conditioner exclusively because I was told it’s good for penetrating the dreads. Before my daughter switched to sista locks I used Aphogee products on her and I loved it because she has very tangly hair and those products really helped with that.
LOL seems like I am getting some backlash as well. A friend of mine who is a member of the board said Ive been put on blast on LHCF because of my post on the previous LHCF thread. I dont see how or for what..who cares. Not that serious..get a life. But I will retract and say I dont know how the “new” ladies are.. I just know some friends who still frequent the board tell me the newbies are a bit off..but hey I dont go on the board. I will clarify and say the insane were not in the hair board, but just the standard off topic post.
Anywho..Sandra you have started some cyber wars talking about these ladies.

Love Ateeya!Them chicks over at the forum are militant as hell.I didn’t even know what that was until Sandra mention it.I use Frederic Fekkai Protein Rx when I colored it and still using it because I love that stuff.At first I was using the Glossing system by him and my hair felt really good.Anyways, if you take care of your hair you should have no problem.Long hair, short hair it don’t matter and like I said before just because your hair long don’t mean it’s healthy.I can spot split ends from afar.

@ shhhh… you should really watch the video before you comment because if you did you would know that she uses a cap and then places the “rag” ONTOP of that just to secure it… Ateyaa has beautiful hair and if this is what works for her, then I can appreciate her spreading her knowledge. You sound like one of those chicks from LHCF that Sandra and Ateyaa are talking about!!!
IMO – They’re mad at her because the products she’s using are not organic.
But they have no right to attack her.
I’m trying to get away from non-organic products, and shampoos with laurel sulfates in them; but if that works for the next person – more power to them. The options are there, everyone can make their own choice. The more organic products give my hair more moisture.
There are some natural hair, coily heads, that use some of those products, too, on their hair in its natural state. So… Whatever works for you. Them chicks should know that.
Additionally, she’s going to promote hair remedies specific to how she was trained professionally, and what she thinks a healthy hair regimen is (hence her professional training). This is how she makes her living, and most Black beauticians think as she does. They are going to hustle, promote, what they know and benefit from. They are dispositioned to support and feed into the current black hair care industry structure, where the non-blacks are profiting the most from our hair care product purchases.
The hair care solutions promoted on lhcf.com and other sites like nappturality.com, and even naturallycurly.com, promote products produced by African-descendant owned hair product companies that have lest harmful, more organic, ingredients.
And it is true that not everyone has to purchase high end or expensive products for their hair. I have to, but not everyone does.
I understand she’s promoting her own type of hair regimen that works for her…but is she anti-nappy?
Is she anti-organic.
Does she understand how the hair care industry works, and how it’s raping Black folks out of profits?

I watch a lot of youtube beauty tutorials, and even if the person says/or is licensed – all advice taken and applied is at my own discretion. lol. Even so called professional can give bad advise.

I like ateya’s make up videos alot. I’m sur eher hair tips are good too, but I can’t be bothered with doing it myself.
You don’t have to be a “licensed beautician” to know what you talking about.Really it isn’t that hard.I know chicks who are not even licensed and have better sense then most who are licensed.She don’t even have to be organic because being all organic don’t mean it’s good.

I feel what you are saying chill out!!! I was simply stating that you didn’t watch the video and judged it off an inaccurate assumption!!! I know that you have your own opinion and you are most definitely entitled to that but the point that I was trying to make was watch the video before you comment on it. If you watch the entire video and THEN have a negative opinion thats all well and good. I wasnt trying to tell you what to think or say… I can understand that you may not like her personality! Never heard of this place…I cut off 11 inches of hair in October to donate to locks of love (they need some black folk hair there too) and now am in the process of growing it back…dern I miss it!

I agree with you…. I was thinking the same thing when she said she uses a cotton cap, for a factcotton caps do dry your hair out.
As I state in ALL MY VIDEOS….this is what works for ME.

Karaz…no when you watch the movie the guy named CHIGOZIE has 3 more clips of his work on is page. He is out of Houston Texas and he is only on youtube right now but he is DOING BIG things in H-Town.He was at film festival in LA and they are interested in some of his work so you will see him soon..he is great!
