Not that I’m taking up for the hospital, but why did the funeral home wait for 12 days to pick the body up?
Police are searching garbage dumps in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the body of a baby that was apparently thrown out with the trash at Jersey City’s Christ Hospital.
Hospital spokeswoman Barbara Davy said the baby was stillborn on Dec. 21 and the body was placed in the hospital morgue. The body was gone when a funeral home employee came to pick it up on Jan. 2.
The baby’s mother said he was born alive and died after doctors worked to stabilize him for 20 minutes.
Kalynn Moore’s attorney, Michael Anise, said a nurse cleaned up the baby, dressed him in a hat and blanket and gave the baby to the mom to hold.Moore named her son Bashere Davon Moyd Jr.
Whether the child was born is important because Hudson County’s prosecutor said a stillborn is not considered a person under New Jersey law. (LINK)
Good Morning All. What the hell? Who the hell could be so mentally disfunctional that they throw the body of a baby in the trash.
How terrible. Not to seem insentive but why would she name the baby Jr if he had already passed away. I think I would have used the name for a live child.
In tears, my son was born at 3 pounds and he fought like a champ to be here. Seeing him there, in that incubator was hard enough, I cant fathom how she feels. I think the issue may have been monetary as far as the two week thing, because if you have the money they will come the same day. Not right, but the hospital cant store bodies but so long. Its sad when finance gets in the way of something so sacred. This happens everyday, I hope when I do my annual March of Dimes walk the fam will support. (cause I am emailing yall!)
My spirit cannot handle all of this negativity today!!!
That is terrible. I hope they are able to find his body and put him to rest.
I am with Divine!
@Keely..I support the March of Dimes too (thru my employer though). Send me an email and I will do what I can
i went through something similar but i stayed on the morgues azz till the funeral came and got him!
@keely
I am right there with you but most funeral homes at least the ones in Ohio perform babies funerals for free. The hospital needs to be held responsible.
i too gave that baby a name. it was born and is a human.

I know that wendy williams did that twice I believe when she had a baby girl she said that was sooo hard emotional. WOW I just cant fathom all of this negativity first the black guy being shot to death and now this….
@DB: I didnt need all this early in the morning.
@ Yvonne:
Will put you on my email list. Glad your employer supports thats awesome, will send out mid-February.
@Shunda:
Did not know that, if that is the case, then yes both parties the funeral home and the hospital need to be held responsible because that means the funeral home just took their time because it was pro-bono.
i can’t imagine what the mom is going through. first her baby dies and now she can’t even bury him properly. the hospital should have done everything that they could to get the funeral home to pick the baby up , not throw him in the trash.
Yvonne and Mizz Dallas…we need to focus on something more joyous and positive. I’m at the tip of my PMS…I need some joy! LOL Mannnn, I can get this at work. This is too heavy for me today!
*I need to start a countdown for Vegas*
@keely my sister had a stillborn at 7mths. I have a co worker who was 9mths her water broke and the baby died(some rare complication) she is now prg again and we are all holding our breath and praying. My sister got prg again as well and carried the baby to term. I do not have any kids but I will not take anything for granted when the day comes for me to become a mother. I do the march of dimes walk every yr. Babies are indeed miracles and gifts from God.
@pages:
I totally agree. That is her baby, living or not, he was here no matter how short the time was.
this is the most terrible saddest story i have heard in awhile. but then again i have not been to some of my old “normal sites” in 2009. yes he was a human and i think he shoulda been named. this yanks my heart string for the mom and the family.
I can’t take it this story along with the story of Oscar Grant. I just can’t take it! It shows the life of a black male baby boy or a 22 year old man means nothing. Black President or not!
@Daisy:
Thats awesome you dont have kids and still support, because before I never understood what it is that they do. By using all the equipment, support classes, and aftercare nurses I know these people are amazing angels and how important this institution is.
The negativity is reality. I sent Sandra this story this morn’ after I was discussing it w/ co workers. The hospital is down the st from where I work. One of my co-workers actually had a stillborn baby there a few years ago, and she explained that the hospital won’t release the baby until the arrangements are sent in stone.
Sandra you don’t know what financial predicament the young lady is in, it may have taken her 7-10 days to get that aspect of it situated w/ the funeral home. The reason I sent you the story was that I hoped you would discuss the types of laws, classification and treatment of still borns.
This is my only post for today since, we are busy. FAB people hit the email addy.
And good morning everyone else.
@Keely I do a handful of walks every yr and the march of dimes is one of them.
iyonah…I was just saying that both of these stories back to back is a bit much! It was like waking up to it! The ways of the world are negative. Everyday is an uphill struggle to pleasant, positive and on the up and up. On a day like today…I WANNA SEE SOME JUICY GOSSIP OR SOME DOPE SHOES AND HANDBAGS! Damn it…Where is Diamond?
this is a little heavy for me…
@DB I feel ya. Hope you get some juicy gossip sooner than later.
@DB Speaking of gossip did you hear/read the rumor about Nivea being prg by lil wayne? I like them together and on his BET special last yr he did say he loved her. I wonder if she is really knocked up by him?
@Divine….Trying not get emotional over these posts. I am already emotional on my own. With Aunt Flo knocking at the door, the situation is NOT good here. I am trying my damnest to ignore her but more than likely she will kick the door down after a while. lol
For the love of God,This is sad, just sad ,how could a hospital be so inhumane, insensitive..
ROTFLMAO@ YVONNE!! I kneeeeew I was PMS’ing yesterday listening to music getting the blues and sh!T!! *thinkin’ what the hell is wrong with me*
That FLO does me innnnnnn!
Morning fam – this is sad. I can’t take it. keely107 hit me up at msmel0220@gmail.com for some march of dimes support.
Melinla. Thanks! Sure will. Thanks, yall!
No case, if it really was 12 days the hospital has the right to dispose of the body, i dunno if they were in constant contact with the hospital or not but also normally they would cremate the remains not just toss it down garbage shoot, its a terrible situation either way

many women give their still born babies or babies who died at birth names. Its still their child, dead or alive, and they were born. And they gave it a proper burial.
I was in my taxi yesterday when i heard the story, and they were staying that may have to look as far as pennslyvania for remains……truly sad.
licia…lmao!!!!!! I don’t do that, I just like to be left alone! WORK INCLUDED!
YVONNE…I listen to Musiq when I pms’ing! He doesn’t sing about sad shit! lmao

I know womem name their still borns and some have furneral services and burials. I was just wondering why she named the baby after the father knowing it was a still born.
ok, I will have to try that Divine
@Yvonne I really hope and pray my BELOVED Maxy drops something new this yr. He was great in concert last yr. Luvs him!!

^^Sory to hear that, but I guess this sort of proves it could have just been the morgue moving at a slow pace vs the morgue waiting for payment as stated above. If that’s the case then someone needs to be held liable. Even if that’s not the case I feel the hospital should be held liable. We’re looking at a picture of a woman holding her child. Now were being told that same child was thrown away??? Naw. Somebody f**ked up. I don’t care if money was the issue. Maybe hospitals, or insurance carriers or what have you should have specific procedures when dealing with cases like this. And no where in that procedure should it involve infant being tossed out. Born dead or not that’s a baby I see not a fetus…
I’m really hurt by all the people saying that they would not have named him Jr. Rather you are here a short time or a long time he still was somebody to his family. Even though it took him nine months to get in this world why shouldn’t he have a name after his father. I’m truly going to pray for that family she is going to need alot of help until they find his body and can put him to rest.
