Man Who Started TV Network To Show Muslims in Positive Light, Beheads Wife

A Buffalo, NY man who started a TV network to show Muslims in a positive light, beheaded his wife who provided the inspiration for the network, according to police.

Muzzammil Hassan, 44, is charged with 2nd degree murder in the brutal beheading of his wife Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. The murder took place on Thursday (2/12) in the Orchard Park office of their company, Bridges TV.

The NPR (National Public Radio) profiled the Hassans in 2004. They talked about starting “A new cable network for Muslim-Americans” after 9/11 to “inform and entertain Muslims and, at the same time, give viewers who aren’t Muslims a glimpse into” their culture.

They described traveling from Buffalo to Detroit a few weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks, and came up with the idea for the new network after hearing some “derogatory remarks about Muslims” on the car radio.

The couple separated last year and police say the victim had an order of protection against her estranged husband.

The murder weapon was not recovered.

Wow. That’s insane. kcicero I have to disagree. Regardless of how small the number of these incidents are, and I am not conceding the number is small, it is an accepted practice of the Muslim faith. We hear about the rare cases that occur outside of predominantly Muslim countries, but who knows how often it happens in Muslim nations? I don’t meant the decapitating per se because I don’t think I’ve heard that in a domestic case. All the cases I know of where committed by Muslim terrorists, but the killing of wives or daughters for getting out of line is a common practice from what I’ve read.

It is not an accepted practice in the Muslim faith Bird. How can you state something as fact when you do not know enough about it to even form an opinion. This is an Arab thing that was continued into the Muslim faith. It did not start with Islam and it would still be around whether Islamic terrorist did it or not.

People should learn to differentiate between people and culture and religion. In no way does Allah command that husbands should murder their wives or daughters this is a practice that the Prophet tried to eradicate. There is a muslim judicial system that many of the men fail to follow and instead take matters into their own hands and call this honor killings. You will find that most muslims do not condone this type of behavior.

However this is a problem that needs to be dealt with but it needs to be attacked at the source which is a cultural and not religious phenomenon.
