Michelle Obama sparks outrage amongst black designers again

One would think Michelle Obama learned her lesson after the last public outcry from black designers who felt she snubbed them by using “other” designers during the Inauguration.

Well, the angry text messages are once again flying between black designers after Michelle Obama left the states yesterday wearing a jacket by designer Thakoon, and arrived in London wearing a bright lemon dress by Jason Wu.

Thakoon is originally from Thailand. Wu, who designed Michelle’s inaugural gown, is from Taiwan.

Well, maybe Tracy Reese was too busy? The Obama’s are in England for the G20 summit.

Folks will ALWAYS look for something – shame. Do any of us base our wardrobes on designer color or do we wear what we like. Maybe folks should take a closer look at Mrs. O’s style and start planning accordingly if they really what her to support their brand. Let It GO!

1)I have always said that black celebs can do more to support black designers (not everybodys stuff looks like fashion fari) She did wear Kai’s clothes when they honored Steve wonder in Michelles defense. I am sure she will support other black designers as well it has only been 2mths.

Kara Saun and Karto from project runway have some very nice red carpet pieces. There is another black designer whose name escapes me that Vanessa Williams has worn before.

There is enough room for everybody. I have still yet to hear these “black designers” complain.

@kara I gave you 2 Kara Saun and Karto they have some nice classy pieces. Just like she found Jason Wu an UNKNOWN there are talented black designers are out there to be discovered. She can wear whatever she wants I am NOT knocking her. As I said in my earlier post I have been saying this for years. Stop always making others rich all the time. Put some of your own talented people on. We all have different styles but yet only “white” designers seem to only blow up when yall know we are the most stylish people on the block something is not right with that pic.

I would also like to add Rachel Roy as well she had some nice pieces as well. I dont know if she still has her line though. I still can’t think of the guy Vanessa Willimas wears at times.
