Thanks to loyal reader Yasmine for bringing this story to our attention. This is a great example of our people taking advantage of the system. This is why there is no more Welfare for needy families. The widespread systemic abuse by hoodrats claiming other people’s kids for government benefits killed all that.
I am from Maryland and read the Baltimore Sun every morning. This morning there was a rather disturbing article and I guess it bothered me so much because the family is Black. Sgt. David Battle, who is a triple amputee, and his wife Lakeisa seemed to have committed some kind of fraud! I am unsure if it’s fraud but this is what it smells like. A nonprofit group that builds homes for wounded veterans built them an $800,000 home in Pasadena, designed to accommodate his needs.
They were set to have a ceremony today and unfortunately that will not be happening because they already own, not one but 2 homes in Georgia. Mrs. Battle took an Army payment of $100,000 to acquire the properties and failed to disclose that they were the owners—she said on record that her cousin owned one of the homes, which was a bold faced LIE! So, the misdeeds were disclosed and confirmed when media from Georgia were confused about the ceremony and contacted officials in Maryland—this is where it was found out that the battles were going to have a ceremony in Georgia on Saturday for a home that was built for them there.
I am grateful for servicemen like Sgt. Battle, who fight on the frontline, to defend our freedom. I think it is honorable that companies (big and small), organizations, and volunteers are donating countless money, time, and energy to building homes for wounded troops. What I do not agree with is, what appears to be, someone trying to work the system and take advantage of people’s generosity. For Mrs. Battle to say that she was unaware that she needed to disclose that she owned 2 other properties because they were investment opportunities is complete FOOLISHNESS. Its just disheartening because this family, who some see as committing fraud, will probably be a poster child for why people do not give. They’re misdeeds may make it hard for another veteran whose family is truly deserving. Why did they have to be Black?!? Ugh…
Thank you for reading this Sandra!!!

Below is a link to the article in today’s Baltimore Sun.
Way to much to read for a Friday I need the cliffnotes..lol
I’m at a lost for words on this story (SMH) …
Whatever, I’m never mad at anybody who tries to get over on the government. They rob us everyday. They have this country designed that if you aren’t flithy rich or dirt poor they don’t give .02 about you.
& if he is a war Vet I say even more power to them. This country has no real love for people who risk their life day n and out when they return home. How many times have a saw a hopeless Vet. 2 many 2 count.
The only problem I see is they got caught.
Disabled vet and wife own two homes and then they are given a third home but before the ribbon cutting ceremony someone snitched that they already had a home and now it’s a controversy…that’s it in a nutshell.
@ Daisy…First laugh of the day. Thx!!
agreed iscream…
On one hand, I don’t want to believe it because Sgt. Battles is a veteran … and a triple amputee at that …
On the other hand … still shaking my head …
KC Thanks girl..lol
* how many times have I saw a war vet.
I don’t know why I typed hopeless. I sure as heck didn’t mean to.
I saw a war vet on the expressway the other day with a will work sign. A lot of them serve this country and then get treated like shis, I say if you can game, do it just don’t get caught, lol.
@ Daisy ya welcome!
Sorry yall. Its early I know what I meant to say.
*how many times have I saw a HOME LESS war vet 2 many 2 count.
I knew I wouldn’t have called them hopeless.
That means he got a house for each limb he lost…
And I have NO problem with that…
y’all right vets get no love, my daddy was a marine in vietnam, he had nightmares to the day he died. After he died I looked in his platoon yearbook( not sure if thats what its called) but out of the few hundred guys in there under the pictures he had wrote KIA or MIA or WHW(went home wounded) or a star( went home ok) There were not a lot of stars and I just thought about what a hell that must of been.
It may not have been an issue if the wife hadn’t lied about owning the investment properties…or, even one of them. That makes it look like fraud.
What were the investment properties worth?? Whatever the income from those properties, may not have been enough to afford an $800,000 special needs house. In which they are still deserving of the property.
For Mrs. Battle to say that she was unaware that she needed to disclose that she owned 2 other properties because they were investment opportunities is complete FOOLISHNESS.

Maybe she really didnt know she needed to disclose her other homes. seems like they were just rental properties anyway.
SMH
And wagging my finger.
Is that all the house you get for $800,000? Who said he got a house for each limb he lost? SMH and LOL. You aint right.
true SunnyPA or they might not even be rentals, could be just a cosign type situation esp considering family stays in them. Also does not mean they are worth much.. The further away from Atlanta and other cities in Ga you go the propery value decreases tremendously. My inlaws have a home large older home not fancy but nice 3 fireplaces hardwood floors on 2 acres that they rent out for $185 in Stewart County. There are house there I kid you not for $9 K . They are small older houses built in the 40 and 50s no ac, 1 bath etc but well built and on large lots. I saw a sign down there selling 5 acres of land for $5K! There are many factors to consider in this story
damn…i’M WITH ISCREAM on this one….a three time amputee..they should give him 10 houses..10 million dollars…he should never have to buy food water or clothing…he risked his life obviously for this country
OK so are the other two homes they own being rented out to someone else or liveable for his condition? They are so quick the throw them under the bus but I’m not sure the entire situation is being taken into consideration.
Also, if having the 2 properties in GA was an issue beforehand, why didn’t GA organization already know that the couple owned 2 properties? They had to ask them something about their finances. Investment properties in GA may not be enough to take care of a triple amputee. I’m not on the fraud bandwagon.
@iscream…..I feel you on this one. I feel like the government (not Obama, Sandra) have taken advantage of me since the day I started working at 16. My birthday is coming up, so I got that little statement that tells how much you would get if you are disable and all of that jazz. I almost died reading that crap. I been working since 16 and if I needed diability now, it would be mere peanuts.
i know dmn well THAT house aint cost no 800k. As cheap as bmore is..300k the most!
all i can say is wow. when we people learn that if you gone commit the crime, it can’t be an ongoing thing; get in and get out.
***will people learn
So two things.
1) the man is a triple amputee. He has lost limbs for the country. I say so the hell what if he owns 2 other homes give him another one he deserves it.
2) Today we have no welfare cause of hoodrats and tomorrow it’ll be Obamas fault. LMAO!!
