Who Cares Why Chris Brown Didn’t Attend The BET Awards?

Now that the 2009 BET Awards is over, the biggest controversy is not the fact that mentally impaired rapper Lil Wayne cursed and performed a track containing inappropriate lyrics while underage children gyrated on stage.

The biggest controversy surrounds convicted woman beater Chris Brown, who is upset because he was disinvited to perform during the telecast.

Word is that Rihanna’s mentor and former lover Jay Z blacklisted Chris from the BET Awards. Supposedly, BET’s head honchos also considered CB’s appearance a bit risky.

First of all, who cares??? And secondly, does Jay Z call the shots at BET now? Chris Brown’s career is over and that’s why he was asked not to perform. This nonsense has even made it into the mainstream media:

One source says Brown’s absence came at the insistence of the Rev. Al Sharpton. “Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris,” says our insider, who adds that Jay-Z also had a hand in the decision. “Jay is a big name in the BET community, and he was very vocal about his displeasure with Chris attending the ceremony. The “source” sounds like an idiot. Jay Z is not a big name anywhere — Beyonce is. If it weren’t for Beyonce no one would be checking for Jay’s old azz.

I also have to add that I will teach my son (if God blesses me with one) that if he ever puts his hands on a woman for any reason he will have to answer to me and I will encourage the woman to get the law on his azz. They had that story back on their site the week before he went to court. This does NOT excuse him and what he did but I am telling u what she coped to in her statement as well that night. I prefer those solutions to excusing a man for hitting a woman. Of course it happens. In addition to hopefully getting the chance to teach my son to have the self esteem not to date a woman who hits, my daughters already have the self esteem not to date a freakin scrub who hits women.

As for the TMZ story, I already disregarded it like I did the other things they reported that came from “sources” without showing proof. I know many many times that when a man and woman are involved in mutual combat both parties are charged. The fact that they went after Chris so hard made me doubt it was purely self defense. I’ve tried to keep my mouth shut, but people keep defending this dude. I ain’t trying to hate the boy for life, but there is no excuse for what he did. And I also want to add in the police report Rihanna said her self that Chris told her to get out his car and she refused and at that point she said he didn’t hit her. So tell me this at what point should we as women take respond for if she saw him in a rage why not get out like he asked call somebody then leave his azz alone? I’m sick of everyone treating Chris like a murderer. He made a mistake, he apologized and he got his consequence. MOVE ON! Everyone is acting like they’re above making mistakes. No one, I repeat NO ONE, knows what happened that night. So many stories are going around about what the both of them did but no one is saying anything about Rihanna. Chris shouldn’t worry about being disinvited to the ceremony because BET is falling off anyway. This is the second year in a row several people are disappointed with how the show came out. This year’s should’ve been one of the best ever since it was dedicated to one of THE biggest musical icons to ever live. So to deny one of MJ’s biggest fans, someone who was influenced by Michael in so many ways the chance to make a make tribute was foul; especially if it was on account of Jay-Z.
