Last night, the president of the United States held his first state dinner at the White House. The well-heeled invited guests included a Prime minister, a Nobel prize laureate, millionaire industrialists and entrepreneurs, Katie Couric of CBS News, Robin Roberts of ABC News, actors Alfre Woodard and Blair Underwood, and this odd pair – billionaire movie mogul David Geffen and his 26-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Lingvall.
That’s Jeremy talking to Obama and that’s David Geffen, 2nd from left, in the above picture taken at the dinner last night.
The seating arrangement was designed so as not to bruise some of the biggest egos in the world. So the First Lady had her own table where she broke bread with her distinguished guests and Barack Obama’s special guests were seated at his table. I’m assuming there were other tables in the room as well.
Guess which table Geffen and his boy toy sat at?
Now I wouldn’t be mentioning any of this if the boy, Jeremy, hadn’t dashed home after the dinner to post pics from the dinner on his Facebook page along with little musings about the dinner and Obama in general.
According to Gawker.com, Jeremy and Geffen have been linked since last September when they met at an Obama fundraiser. Did I mention that Geffen is 66?
Anyway, once Gawker.com posted the pics from the kid’s Facebook, the privacy settings on the account were abruptly changed. You’d think that Jeremy would have made his page private before posting the pics — unless he wanted the world to see them?
Call me a prude or whatever, but a 66-year-old man bringing his 26-year-old sex object (what else is he?) to dine at the president’s table in the White House just seems a bit irregular to me.
But I guess no one raised an eyebrow since Geffen is a billionaire who contributed generously to Obama’s campaign?

Does anyone have any pointers for cooking collard greens. I’ve made them one time before and I used FRESH neckbones instead of smoke and my greens tasted like the water they were cooked in.

No, I didn’t change the water. That was my first time cooking them. I didn’t know I had to season the fresh neckbones. Nor did I know to change the water. I just placed them in the pot. This time I know to use smoked neckbones and I may try the chicken broth this time.Thanks! LOL!!

When I cook my greens. I normally buy some ham hock put it in the pot of water im going to cook my greens in. Add a little red peppers for spice, a lil oil, and salt. Bring it to a boil then add the greens. Cook it on low for a couple hours.

@ms.kaylamomma, ham hock is basically a big hunk of meat/fat from a pig. Carries alot of flavor. Pretty much all you need, to flavor your collards with a little salt. Neckbones don’t care much flavor without additive seasoning. at least in my opinion. You dont have to do much except for dump the ham hock in the pot, boil and add your collards to the water with the ham hock still in it. Real good because you’ll have bits of meat in your greens when you go to serve it also.

I live in Ohio, they have liquor stores inside of Kroger and Liquor stores in shopping plaza’s and we have just has many bars on streets as we do churches. It’s a shame. I live by the Michigan border and they are trying to pass a bill that if you get a permit you can sell alochol until 4am. Just what I need more drunks that are not done drinking driving over the state line to drink for 2 more hours, come back over the border and side swipe my cars. LOL.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I invited 10 ppl but it always turns into 40+ It’s ok, it’s only once a year, yea right. Turkey Day, Christmas, Flag Day, Labor Day, 4th Of July, Bdays and just Somedays. If they smell food they will visit. I am just one that appreciates that they appreicate what I do. It is a big deal to cook for a big crew but I would not want it any other way.

I think I am the only one on this earth that is home alone this year..My father passed away in April of Lung Cancer and I just can’t do the holidays this year. My son and fiance went to see his family for awhile and they are going to fix me a plate or two…lol. @Laurnict, my father died of cardiac arrest in 2003 at age 55 right in my brother’s arms. Thanksgiving was his favorite. I didn’t call my grandmother, aunt or uncles. My brother called me to tell me that everyone was asking about me. He called them. I couldn’t. I know what you are through. Grief is something you can’t control. It just hit you suddenly out of no where.

Happy Friday. I came on here to type the same thing. Did the dad not have insurance for his little girl? He was driving around in a BMW. I think something is not right with him. After his first 3 kids mom was killed in a car crash it wasn’t him but his parents who raised those kids. The man can’t admit that he slept with a crackhead and got her pregnant,and the little girl was living with his sister. I think the sister got tired of taking care of her and the dad had a out of town job and the sister did convince him to let the little girl go live with her mother. SMH. Nice of Shaq.

This is something I will never get. A kid is a rider(once you add one kid all kids that are born after are automatically covered) on their parents policy. My oldest is still on mine until she turns 25 next Summer.

I don’t know what it is about my hubby’s offsring, they take the time to call me but we can’t have a conversation. They are too busy talking to their kids. When I talk to my mother-in-law she can’t talk either because she is too busy fussing out grandkids. LOL. I value my time and I don’t want anyone to call me and I can’t get a word in or like you said “I don’t know they are talking to me”.
@attorneymom, My father was young as well, 54. He found out he had Lung Cancer last year and it took him so fast.. I have gone to Hospice and they have some good support groups but I haven’t gone..I guess it’s all still so unreal to me. It’s good to hear that other people know what I am going through though and I’m not alone. This is the first person that I have ever lost that was so close to me..Grief is tough..really tough..
@laureninct, it is going to be hard for the first year. I would say to myself he was here around this time last week, last month, last year. You and my family are in my prayers. Cry if you have to. And give yourself some time. The pain in your heart is still new.

@ J.C., Thank you, I definately realized yesterday how lucky I was to have my fiances family..My mother dosent get along with my fathers sisters so there has been a lot of family drama on my fathers side. I have distanced myself from them because it is just too much. My mother and I visit here and there but I am suprised and a little hurt at how she is dealing with it..Threw away all of his clothes, changing the house around, a new pet..I guess everyone deals with grief differently. The kind words I received here on Sandra Rose means more than posters understand..Love you guys

@Redeemed, all I smell is a pissed off wife because their dirty laundry is being thrown in the public arena by way of tabloids and his sloppy indiscretions (the jump off has text messages she has shown to other people).
I know the speculation is rampant right now but I don’t think that Tiger is squeaky clean, he just has managed to keep all his dirt private as do many.
Tiger has been able to stay “squeaky clean” because of who he is. His dad kept him out of the spot light. He married a Becky and I found that to be ok and normal, being all the white ppl he hangs around. Say it aint so that he is cheating? Before I took my after Turkey Day nap I had my son look up info about Tiger’s crash. When I heard he hit a fire hydrant and a tree I was like “what the heck”. I think I would have been better off knowing he was under the influence and not cheating, being it was a single car accident. Morgan Freeman was with a “Becky while getting a Becky when he crashed her car”. I am a black woman trapped inside a white woman’s body and I was talking earlier with hubby and I still to this day don’t get why a black man can be with a whtie woman, they will call you everything but a child of GOD when they are mad. In my city we had a guy who got clemnacy after serving 12 yrs. for murder and a white woman accused him of the crime. The judge(old white guy) who sent him to jail was dying and wrote a letter to Our Gov. saying he did not believe the man did it and that all the evidence was not presented. The man in question was Pardoned and home for Thankgiving. I don’t have a prob with blacks and whites marrying or procreating(I am a product of such) I just get mad when they don’t know how to fight fairly and racial words are the norm. My white mother never called my dad any name other than her husband and vice versa.

Ok, wifey used his golf club to smash out his window in his/their car. Why was he slipping in and out of conscienceness? How the hell do you whip/beat your hubby with what makes him money?. A golf club? Sorry to say but I may be a black woman but I am not going to “bite the hand that feeds me”. I am a wife of 12+ years but I will never “Smash The Window(s) of hubby’s car. Yes ma’am the person that told me that would certainly know. This is why he is on my “Gets None (no respect or attention that is) List”. To know that this black man( I don’t care what he calls himself) were rather use us for his sexual desires while wife-ing a Nanny disgusts me.
