Your income tax refund checks might be a little late this year.
An apparently irate taxpayer climbed into the cockpit of his small single engine plane and flew it right straight into the IRS building in Austin, Texas today.
In a scene reminiscent of 9/11, workers scrambled in terror as thick black smoke billowed from one side of the building and books, papers and desks flew out of shattered windows.
Officials say the pilot intentionally targeted the IRS building and set his own home on fire before taking off. No terrorism link is suspected.
Two IRS workers were rushed to the hospital and one person is still unaccounted for. The toll of injuries is expected to rise. So far there is only confirmed death — the pilot.
One witness said the plane did not look like it was out of control. Fire crews are looking for survivors inside the IRS building, which is located next door to the FBI offices.
SR you know we don’t see eye to eye on many things but you are on top of the news game. Work!!
Isn’t this considered a terrorist attack? Now that it’s a white non-muslim, where’s the rhetoric?
Man I wonder if my IRS bill burned to the ground with the building
OMG……….that’s really all I can say.
This has been a facebook topic all morning. It was being reported as an accident. Thanks Auntie, for letting us know the real deal!
Glen Beck the chickens have come home to roost
Auntie Sandra, I’m guessing he OWED money instead of getting a refund.
That’s all I got.
Republicans will start blaming this on Obama in 5,4,3,2…
This is terrible news and it was reported as an accident in earlier news reports.
it’s not terrorists.
How sad that innocent people are injured and maybe will die because of some idiot. I mean we all got to work somewhere, right? He is a terrorist as far as i am concerned, no matter what color/nationality he is.
Wow…My thoughts and prayers are with the IRS employees in Austin.
that is just crazy!!!
WOW!! I pray he didn’t take anybody else out with him. Sick of this crap. If you are unhappy with your life and the things going on and want to kill urself, don’t take other innocent people with you.
He also burned down his house with his wife & kid inside. They escaped.
Shame. Here in NY they annonced that the Gov was going to withhold our state checks to make sure they have enough money.
Really mother flucker. I don’t remember you asking me if I had enough money to cover my bills before you TOOK the tax now I have to wait to make sure you can pay your bills before you GIVE it back…
Somebody is asking for an ass kicking and he won’t see it coming …..
Thats messed up
but sometimes my utility company makes me want to do the same thing…. #justsaying….I wouldn’t
but sometimes I wish I could DO SOMETHING!
The suicide letter that this man left on his website was very long. Coworkers and I are looking at it now.

@Iscream, they did the same thing in California. They were issuing IOU’s instead of checks. I was mad too. I’m going to pay my taxes with an IOU this year, jk
My prayers go out to the all the families. Such a sad situation.

@LaTech
Good luch with that one, I live in Cali too and they are on me tough about the money I owe them but yet they can send out IOU’s…..I was like where’s the logic in that??
This is horrible, but there probably will not be the same rhetoric as with the Fort Hood shooting or the Kansas Army Center shooting because the perp is probably a white male and not Black or Muslim

Bingo! Sista, you hit the nail on the head.
WOW JUST READ THAT HE SAID ON HIS COMPANY WEBSITE -IT’S CRAZYIn one passage, Stack writes: “That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0. It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie. It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their ‘freedom’ … and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them.”
He also wrote: “Why is it that a handful of thugs and plunderers can commit unthinkable atrocities (and in the case of the GM executives, for scores of years) and when it’s time for their gravy train to crash under the weight of their gluttony and overwhelming stupidity, the force of the full federal government has no difficulty coming to their aid within days if not hours?
Toward the end, he wrote, “I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.”
Is it (owing taxes) really that serious?
This is so sad, he must have had some other issues going on with him because this is just doing too much.
I wish he would have survived so he could be locked up…thankfully no others were killed. Which is AMAZING.
WOW @ Intense Mocha. I’m speechless…. That man… I’m speechless.
i just finished reading the letter and dude was not a crackpot…he was sane, rational and i agree with pretty much everything he said. hubby and i are paying over $15K to the IRS for an error on the part of the preparer but since we signed the return, we are responsible. we were audited a few years back and it’s been hell ever since.
i can’t lie…i’ve thought about doing something drastic to bring attention to this type of ish! while I’m strictly following my grocery list and counting my pennies at the register, Bonquisha is whizzing by with two carts of groceries and swiping her EBT card. I always wanna scream, “Those groceries are mine!” and snatch all that shi.t and load up my car, but i’d be put in jail for that. hubby and i were both unemployed and drained our savings, retirement, etc. and since we don’t have any dependents, we couldn’t even get food stamps, help with a light bill, gas bill – NADA. Bish at the Food Stamp office had the nerve to tell me that we were $15 over the monthly income limit for food stamps…and we were getting UNEMPLOYMENT!!!
i’m done…i’m not saying what he did was right but i understand his desperation, anger and sadness.
WOW
Thanks Intense for the update. Smh the government and their f ucked up ways can make a sane person insane. People losing their homes left & right, their retirement that they’ve worked their whole life for, my fvcking tax return… where are the fund raisers for the people right here!
I can’t on this topic. Too many different opinions and I’m not trying to ruin my day. Goes to lurking on this one & only for updates.
Am I bad for hoping this dude is a republican who voted for Bush & wished it were McCain?
Yeah, the government does all it financ processing in/through Austin. People’s money just might be a little jacked up
That guy was a dumb ass! He set his house on fire with his daughter in it, steal the plane and runs it into an outsourced IRS building. I think it was a personal/intimate crime – he was likely mad at a significant other. I’m wondering if he was that upset, why didn’t he just fly the plane up in the air, then dive bomb? Why get other innocent involved? Dumb ass.
I just saw on the news that his ex-wife and stepdaughter were rescued from a burning house earlier today. They don’t know if he started it or not.
Speakinmymind, my brother and I were talking about how shiftless people jsut skate by in life, on other people’s dime, and seem to have it made.
Bastards!
@ RTB,
i’m thinking he killed the wife and daughter so they wouldn’t be responsible for the debt(s) after his death. Cuz that’s exactly what would happen and i think it’s ridiculous that the surviving spouse and children can be made responsible for someone’s debts after they’re dead. Sheesh – aint’ losing a loved one enough grief for a lifetime!
Cinderella, he did start it, then stole the plane – he’s a dumb ass!
Pay your damn taxes!!!! Had to be Caucasian cause we don’t give a damn about Uncle Sam until he comes after us
Again I say I feel what he’s saying but the people who work there aren’t the problem, it’s the institution….that’s like killing a few bees when there’s a fully functioning hive that you haven’t even scathed…
onlinefan, people like that don’t deserve to survive and be locked up. You’d still have to feed them.
We should stop feeding peoplethat do dumb sh*.
@ Cinderella/RTB
Oh, so the wife and daughter didn’t die?? That’s good. I thought I read somewhere that they were killed in the fire. Well, like I said, the government and any other creditors will definitely be coming after his spouse/children for those debts…
that is crazy.. some people stayed here at my job (G-14 classified) because they didn’t want to move when the jobs went down there to austin tx late last year. positive energy goes out.

We were just talking about that yesterday in another post regarding Section 8 and foodstamps. There are only a lucky few that are strong willed and use it as a stepping stone. Others are born into it and stay on it for the rest of their lives.

NOW THAT SHIAT IS FUNNY!
WELFARE WASN’T DESIGNED TO BECOME A LIFESTYLE BUT AIDE & SUPPORT WHILE YOU ARE GETTING YOUR LIFE TOGETHER
I’M NOT ASHAMED TO SAY BACK IN THE DAY I RECEIVED ASSISTANCE-BUT WHILE RECEIVING IT I ALWAYS WORKED AND WENT TO SCHOOL AND I MANAGED TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE WITH A BACHELORS DEGREE
LIKE RTB SAID YOU BASICALLY HAVE TO HAVE NOTHING TO GET HELP-AND SOON AS YOU GO OVER BY A $1 THEY CUT YOUR AZZ OFF
FOR SOME IT’S LIFESTYLES OF THE FOOD STAMPS/MEDICAID AND FABULOUS
BUT NOT FOR ALL-TRUST AND BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO WORK JUST ENOUGH TO STAY UNDER THE GUIDELINES/THEY ONLY SUPPORT TWO-YEAR DEGREES OR ANY 2YR OR LESS TRAINING PROGRAM-SO YOU HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO CONTINUE YOUR EDUCATION ALL WHILE WORKING AND SURVIVING OFF THE HELP THEY GIVE YOU-
IT’S FAR FROM GLAMOROUS-IF YOU NEED IT-GET THE HELP TO GET AHEAD BUT IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A TEMPORARY FIX AND NOT PERMANENT-
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE HAVING GOOD CREDIT, OWNING A CAR & HOME, THAT YOU PAID FOR WITH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY-THAT’S CALLED SELF RESPECT AND NO GOVERNMENT AID CAN GIVE YOU THAT-ONLY YOU CAN!
that’s how i felt when i first put my info into turbo tax this year….

and there it is…couldn’t have said it better. for those who have never experienced a financial hardship in their life, it’s easy to sit back and say ‘if you work hard and have good credit, everything will be ok’. well, we did just that – worked, saved, lived BELOW our means, contributed to charities and neither of us have kids out of wedlock or have ever received any type of public assistance. so it burns me up that when we needed just a little help, ALL the proverbial doors were slammed in our face. It’s like we’re being punished for doing the right thing and that ish will make you want to do something drastic! Wow I’m in Houston and this is all over the news.
This is beyond crazy!!!
Good afternurn, SR peeps! First, I’m praying for the man and his family, as well as any injured in the crash. I feel like he was a victim, too. It’s a damn shame that anyone living in the so-called “land of the free” feels so encumbered by debt at the hand of our government that they have to go to such extremes. The gov’t has been raping us for scores of years. Yeah, we can assume that he made lots of money because he had to pay taxes, but his plight is just like people who get screwed by not getting enough back. I went to a good college in Texas, and now my hubby and I owe out the wazoo in loans. :crying1: I was trying to do what I thought was the American way, working hard to have a good life. Between the high interest rates and the harassing calls, I have half a mind to drive the Mazda through Sally Mae.>:(
@Ckarn THANKS for my SR laugh for the day
CLASSIC I tell you!
@Speaking I owed about that much now down to about 7K so I feel your paying
FYI Welfare was created for YT women back in the day when their hubbys went to war. They wanted to ensure they would still be allowed to stay home w/the kids while the hubby went off to war.
This man is a coward…end of conversation!!
Yes the system sucks…naw fluck it…the system is broke…too much red tape, politics, and ignorance.
So many people are going through the same damn thing today and don’t do this crazy shyt!! He took out innocent people who had nothing to do with him or his problem!!
Now he left his wife and daughter…with no house, no money, hospital bills, emotional trauma and Lord knows what else; and life insurance policies don’t cover suicide/attempted murder..
I pray for all the families involved in this tragic situation. We all need a hug!

I should pay them back the deflated value of my higher education in this shiddy ass economy, but Imma do them one better… I;m leaving the momofukking country for good, they should send collections after me in Africa.
When I tried to file my taxes w/ Liberty Tax 5 yrs ago, they said I owed the state and gov. I told the lady that was a mistake and I wasn’t paying one cent. I took my tax papers and did it myself online. The IRS hasn’t sent me any notices.
@KaraZ Take me with you! Give us FREE *Amistad voice*! My hubby was joking about skipping to Cairo the other day. Did you hear about the lady whose loans went from 250K to 550K because she deferred and missed payments? Dam.n shame! @AntiheRHOine
I read that, I fell out laughing. If I were her, I’d say duck it! I ain’t paying, come get me then. Really though, it’s a trap. You go to school, spend all that money, study as hard as you can and upon graduation spend over a year looking for gainful employment
IF THEY ENDED WELFARE TODAY-YOUR TAXES YOU PAY AND OWE WILL REMAIN THE SAME
THE SYSTEM IS OBVIOUSLY BROKEN-NOBODY SHOULD GET TO THE POINT THEY FEEL THEY HAVE TO KILL THEMSELVES OR OTHERS
People feel like they should kill because they are broken down, its not right but at the same time people can only take so much. I feel for even those to take their life because they really felt like they had no other way out. People have to understand that the government is against us, chaos is important to them…

Someone file for my daughter the first time I filed my taxes. I had to prove to them that she stay’s with me and that I took care of her that whole year. I file and February didn’t see no money until october. I was told I would have to payback all that money from the previous years or they would garnish my wages. Good Afternoon SR family
Aint this bout a blip. Somebody was behind this………..
people commit suicide (and murder suicides) each year around tax time. this man just took it to another level.
SPEAKING OF SALLIE MAE, i know somebody who defaulted on an approximately $6K student loan. well she’s been paying damn near 10 years on a judgement and nows owe them about $10K! her payroll check is so little but SMAE takes out a certain percentage, sometimes she says it’s like $15 but they make sure they take SOMETHING. but we can bail out high paid executives who get bonuses for their trouble.
When I was in college I worked at Albertsons…I hated to work on the 1st, well to be honesr the 1st-3rd of each month because I hated to deal with the EBT card crowd….No offense…I respected those single women who you could tell just got off of work and where buying proper groceries for their family. I say proper because the other 75% of the welfare baby-mommas rolled in with their 50/11 kids in toe buying up all the chips, frozen pizzas, kool-aid, and all the other un-healthy foods they could get their hands on…They would run up a $500 grocery bill (of course taken care of by the hard-working tax payers) and still have some to spare, all while they where talking on the phone trying to find a baby sitter so that they could hit up the club that night…Why does your arse need to be in the club on a Wednesday night???? Ok that’s all…it used to upset me so much!!!
Krysi J …..I swear I was about to say the same dayum thing about my utility company….they are monopoly’s for real.
“no combination to a locked mind”

@speakyomind: Girl (or guy) you said a mouthful! I remember when I was younger my dad worked TWO jobs one at the post office and the other at FedEx. Well one year when my parents filed their taxes, my dad didn’t claim the FedEx money, not on purpose, but because they didn’t send him a W-2 and it slipped his mind. That happened in 1995, and to this day they still owe. And the cold part is the IRS waited 3 years to do an audit on them, so the interest to accumulate and they say you owe this amount of money. The IRS is a racket. Once you start owing, chances are you’re going to owe until you die. My parents hired a tax lawyer to settle and pay one lump sum over a period of time (i’m from Cali). All I could remember when I was kid was that my parents ALWAYS owed the IRS. For a time my parents were not happy because they couldn’t do things that they wanted because they never received a tax refund.
Anyway, when I was 17 I had a part-time job, and I was going to file my taxes and the preparer told me that I owed the State $300, and that I needed to file. I told her, “No i’m not filling because I never owed the IRS” (Mind you I’ve been working since I was 14). So be careful about the tax preparer as well…
I’m worried about next year because I moved from Cali (Bay Area) to Charlotte, NC to attend UNCC for graduate school (Go Niners!), and I don’t know anyone who does taxes. I might have to learn TurboTax, and do my return myself!
Finally, I so agree with the posters about Sallie Mae! I had a conversation with my best friend (who’s still in Cali) about the bullshit philosophy that people buy into in regards to education. The philosophy that once you graduate that you’ll have job offers overflowing is a bunch of BS. My best friend and I graduated together last June, and she’s still looking for a full-time job…
lol…I worked at a supermarket too and that is so true about the cart being filled w/ nothing but unhealthy mess. I hated working on those days as well.
Funny story is when me and hubby went food shopping the other month and made the mistake of going on a sunday and the first of the month. We had to go to 3 different supermarkets to complete our shopping list. This ebt holders were taking up everything. One chick had fresh pineapple’s, and peaches in her cart mind you we are in the dead of winter. Some have no comprehension on how to buy food and when to buy certain food.
I think I will be doing my own taxes for the first time this year!!!
So does beyonce’s Heat smell good? should i ask Bf to get it for me?
Turbo tax is highly recommended by myself every year I get the maximum refund amount and that is not a gimmick and it’s really easy and user friendly…worth the $50.00 to file and if you are a new user I think you get more a discount.
My gf used to work at Sallie Mae in TX and she told me they received bomb threats on a regular basis. I’m not surprised.
foodstamps is a tremendous help, a friend of mine has 5 kids and was getting 700 a month in them (wow) she spend 300 and sold the rest, her side hustle, i only have 1 kid and get a lil under 200, but its very helpful. i work full time and go to school im not just lounging on the system (if i was unemployed, i would get 367 in FS and 200 cash ass.) how could i live off that! i dont see how they do it….
@ spongebob
It smells like camel breath, lacefront wigs, and sweaty leotards
j/k
but in my opinion it doesn’t smell good. The Macy girl at Lenox was spraying it on every black person that walked past her
I get $376 dollars a month in food stamps for one child, and I can’t cook
what i want is section 8!!!! omg i can live like a king for 40 a month! if i had section 8 and my food stamps i could just stack my money and go to school!!!!!!
sorry im ranting, i always wanted section 8, a housing voucher thats goes towards rent or something
Sorry to interrupt but right now on Centric they are showing a *back in the day* performance from Chaka Khan…back when she had a 24 inch waistline
It just burns me when folks get the EBT and they mis-use it on buying all junk food. This is why we have little 5-year olds running around with muffin tops but I digress…..
My home girls momma works for a tax company and I get the friends and family discount each year…$20 to file federal and state baby!!!! Woooooooooo!!!!
turbotax.com is a very good site to familarize yourself with filing your own taxes. The great thing about is that you can go through the motions in entering in all your information and answering the questions, it will tell you what your refund/amount owed will be and you are NOT obligated to file with them. Then if you want to go to another preparer, the information you got from Turbo Tax should match up. That way you can verify if you did it right or not. If you choose to file with Turbotax online, I believe its free for the simple form but if you e-file its like $14.95.
Now if we could just torch every IRS branch across the country……

It’s not worth it to quit a job or not better one’s self, just to pay $75 a month….that’s why they call it “assistance”….some of the newly rebuilt CHA(used to be “project”)apts that have been rebuilt here require folks to be working, or in school to be eligible to live in one.
Turbo Tax, and H&R Block.com is free if you make under $35,000 or something like that…..
I can’t wait until his wife is on GMA or Oprah

It just burns me when folks get the EBT and they mis-use it on buying all junk food. This is why we have little 5-year olds running around with muffin tops but I digress…..

Hey Cheeks, I think that all parents should have to take a nutriton class. I see ppl buy microwave processed full two carts full, do kids get any veggies or fruit that’s not in a Hot Pocket or a Apple Pie? Nothing but junk food, no juice, just fruit juice, no bottled water, just gallons of red or purple suguary stuff. Kids are fat, I have convinced myself that they rebuilt all our public schools because the kids were too fat to sit their azz’s in the bathroom stalls, you can go to some schools and you don’t know who is the Teacher and who is the student.

what i want is section 8!!!! omg i can live like a king for 40 a month! if i had section 8 and my food stamps i could just stack my money and go to school!!!!!!
Some section 8 housing are very nice, most ppl don’t know that they have them in “White Mans Land”. If ppl really had to pay full price for a section 8 home, it would be more than my mtg. I see ppl living in slum lord rented homes who pay more than I do “buying” a home. Some ppl really don’t know that they too can be a homeowner. I got tired of thowing my money out the window for something that would never be mine. There are ppl where I live in have brand news homes in bad neighborhoods, but they have to live in them for 15 yrs and then can purchase them for $40,000. If their rent for the first 15 yrs. is $300 times 15 yrs, thats $54,000 + after 15 yrs a buy price of an exta $40,000, doesn’t make sense to me. 15 yrs. is along time to wait to buy a house, by then most will be on their feet and won’t like the neighborhood and thew money out the window, waiting for a house to buy that they won’t even want. Ppl save for 20% down to purchase your own home and start building your own equity from day one instead of letting the Gov. profit.
sorry im ranting, i always wanted section 8, a housing voucher thats goes towards rent or something

lol…I worked at a supermarket too and that is so true about the cart being filled w/ nothing but unhealthy mess.

I didn’t see your comment before I made mine. I use to be a cashier at a grocery store and loved the big orders, it makes the day go by faster, but yes, most of the food was just junk.
My bad, no combination to a locked mind! Whoo! Best line ever!

turbotax.com is a very good site to familarize yourself with filing your own taxes.

Yep. I go through the motions and then complete my own return to see if it matches and it does everytime. Turbotax is a good site.
