On Saturday, I accompanied AG Entertainment’s Alex Gidewon to the Sprite Step Off Challenge at the Civic Center. The best part of the evening for me was the car ride there and back. We pulled up to the Civic Center in a CL65 AMG with a turbocharged V12 engine that reached top speeds in 6 seconds. The car took my breath away. All I can say is I want one!
Anyway, step show host Ryan Cameron (WVEE) said “Steppin’ is for erybody.” Well, it’s not for me. I was bored out of my skull for the 50+ minutes that we were there. Back in my college days, steppin’ was an entirely different art form than what you see today. Now it’s more lights, cameras and action than fancy footwork mixed with military precision.
So is it any wonder that an all white girl crew from Arkansas took 1st place in the majority black competition? The women from Zeta Tau Alpha’s Epsilon chapter electrified the crowd with a dazzling step routine that clocked in at just under 9 minutes. They won cash scholarships and other prizes. MTV2 will air the step show at 3 pm on February 28 and March 7.
were having a step show here next week. i sooooo wanna go, but im too old to be hanging around a bunch of college and higshcool kids. lol
We cant neva have shyt! lol Get it white girls! Make your black boyfriends proud.. :lolol: They did a good job.
I’m so over step shows, I’ve been going to them since before I could talk. But congrats to the winners although I’ve never heard of them.
No one is orginal any more. I see “signature” steps from other fraternities and sororities in their routine. I guess that’s the new way now. Not something you would so boldly do back in the day! Times they are a’changing.
sandra, i’m with you. that is all!
I am in a sorority and I am so over step shows it not even funny. I don’t even go to them anymore. They have become so boring
They didn’t do bad at all. But if this is first place, everyone else was half-stepping for real.
@Khunfuzion – Yes the “signature” steps were a
So I decided to go and watch the video, no wonder I’ve never heard of them, there are a NPC organization. Hmm, that’s different. YAY for diversity, I guess.
I’m trying out for a grad chapter, but I can’t step to save my sad soul. I’m extra embarrassed that the sisters snow can work it better than me! LOL, no shade, they were good. VI, dude, why did you leave Facebook? You were so fun to talk to, then you just bounced. Dead @ you for “make your Black boyfriends proud”!
I am an AKA and I can’t step at all. But those white girls did the darn thing. Stepping ain’t easy. I was really upset that some white girls could step better than the Black Sororities until ATLien sent me a video of my Sorors winning the step show at Chicago Sprite Stepoff. Click my screen name to see do Sorors do their thing. I see now that the white girls of Tau Zeta Alpha stole their look and just added a jackets. Hmmm.
I meant Zeta Tau Alpha or whoever the hell they are.
Good job
@ryand
when I was in H.S. @ the age 16 my high school held college step-shows plus my lil azz was going to step-shows in different cities and while I was in college.. And now my younger sister is into that ish and she wants me to attend a step-show with her but I just cant anymore Im so over that ish!
Ahhhh, I remember my days of stepping in high school.. I will say this though, its a lot harder then it looks.
They were ok but I’m not impressed when people steal almost the whole routine
I swear I’ve seen most of this routine before from a Delta, AKA and Zeta step team up north, even the matrix inspired theme…
And if they won with this routine… well everyone must have really sucked or the “white girl” novelty factor really helped them out. I mean the lack of precision is evident. Who judged this show? Or how bad were the other teams?
@ mizzdallas yeah they were so much fun for me until this year when I came to college and then I was like wow, it’s all the same stuff year after year. Now I realize it’s almost an exclusively Greek thing, and I’m not Greek, so I’m like whatever..
I agree with everybody else! Step shows have lost it originality. The last step show I went to I thought I was at a dance competition b/c that’s all the groups did (dance). I was soo upset that I wasted my money! Me and my Sorors left that mess. Now, they be having mini step shows called Stroll Off. Those suck too!
@ KaraZ Says
Maybe the step team won to make a better MTV special. MTV has aired a “step show” before. One of the stepper groups were Hispanic and they highlighted them winning a bid to nationals. This is not far fetched for MTV. Just sayin’
Sandra, as much as you SAY you are going out to events and parties, I can’t believe no one has snapped a current picture of you? Do you disguise yourself?
AM – Thanks for the links. Passing them along to others that haven’t seen a decent step in a while.
Not impressed!
They looked good and even their matrix outfits were sexy…

I think you’re right… because these chicks were all over the place and I can’t fathom that there wasn’t a team that was more put together. It could be the video quality, but you can barely hear them, but you do hear a bunch of feet hitting the floor at different times and two people always clappint after everyone else is done. I haven’t been to a step show since 04 or so, but damn if they’ve deteriorated to this, no wonder nobody bothers me with them.
@ MKM ppl are scared to photograph Sandra, you know she put a VPO on FreddyO. Can’t veiw the video at work so no comment on the post.
Ha. This is a joke. Whole routine jacked!
A case of “When white folks do it”?
This reminds me of a quote from Paul Mooney about white people stealing everything. He said, “don’t like me too much, because white folks might steal me.” So now they are winning step shows? GTFOHWTBS!!!! And I’m gone.
Damn, I can’t c the video!!!!!! At work, ugh!!!
I watched 2 episodes on this from MTV and I remember all of the other sororities saying that the above girls were mostly previous members of the other fraternities and they join, steal their moves then pledge at the above fraternity. I thought they were joking but I guess they weren’t. Congrats for being unoriginal…
Morning everybody. A friend of mine went to the step show and said that Zeta Tau Alpha was alright. They were coached by the AKA’s at their school. He said the TAU chapter of AKA should have won.
Hello All. White folks seem to emulate everything we do.
@ Cinderella I wonder why those AKA’s didn’t step, all that work and not even a scrap from the check.
I agree with everyone; I noticed the change in step shows when I was in college. We would step our Azz off and that wasn’t enough b/c folks wanted dancing and a production. The good old days of greek life has bypassed us!
This was done for TV purposes. Even stepping has become commercial.
I must say that I have not been to a step show in many years, but one of my former co-workers went to the show one year during the CIAA tournament here in Charlotte and she said that the frats and sorors had fallen off big time. Like you she said she was bored. I wonder what’s up with that. Maybe they need to look at some old tape or something because step shows used to be OFF THE CHAIN. Or maybe they can just study these white girls because they’ve obviously done their homework. We can’t be mad when others beat us at our own game when we are not willing to leave it all out there. Just being cute and wearing cute outfits will not suffice.

Can’t wait to hear Ryan Cameron talk about this today on his show. I remember at the last show he forgot to mention one of the groups names and tried to go off him but he turned it into the biggest joke of the night. Hillarious!!
ANYTHING POSITIVE FOR THE YOUNG FOLKS-THERE SHOULD BE NO COMPLAINTS
AKAtastrophy1908 You’re so right. It’s all commercial. Why do we let commercialism override tradition, and dilute it?
Black Folks need to learn how to keep secrets better. LOL!

They actually won the show…the whole show…they where the best?!!
Okay I am going to have to tune in to see what the hell the rest of the commpetition was doing!!
I also heard that the TAU chapter of AKA were robbed all because of the novelty effect of white girls getting out there and emulating black girls. I have seen the youtube video of the AKA performance from that night and I have to say that they were alot better than these girls. They did come in 2nd place, but you know how that goes…it was sponsored by sprite and will air on MTV.

we can’t have our men, our music, our lips, our arses, our food, our sons, our history, OR our culture.LOL…but sadly, we are partially to blame, black people as a whole are too trusting and we want so bad to be accepted, that we SHARE alot of trade secrets about ourselves and our culture, it is not that it is stolen per se’, but we give away a lot of our culture in order to be accepted. We get so happy that the “white” man is approving and validating something about us that we hand it RIGHT over too them and tell them EVERYTHING and TEACH them everything we know about it when nine times out of ten all they [big business] do with it is take it, and rape it for finacial profit in which we never see the benefit or the finacial gain in the black community; on the CONTRARY they make us PAY for what is historically ours… so yes, while some things are actually STOLEN we GIVE alot of ourselves away as well, case in point, I am sure these girls that won probably were coached and trained by a black step team or black people. That’s one thing I admire about the Asians, they don’t give up shyt to NOBODY…they ain’t telling you the ingredients too their hot and sour soup, they ain’t telling you their distributors/connects so you can pay 10.00 for a lace wig like they do instead of 500.00, these asian women ain’t sharing their freaky deaky trade secrets [and TRUST they got some]… and we black people as a culture need to start being the same way. I am not saying to be racist etc., but we need to stop being so eager to SHARE EVERYTHING..especially those things that make us the unique people that we are like stepping.

Leapyear – YOU TOLD IT LIKE IT T-I-S!
I knew when “Stomp the Yard” came out, it was officially over for tradition. It’s the same with “Drumline”. When that movie was released, all types of schools were at the Battle of the Bands all of a sudden. Even that isn’t entertaining anymore.
Thanks, RTB. It’s just that with me being in the South, a lot of black still have this “Yessah Massah” mentality and even though I like to think of myself as a forward thinking , open minded person, that shyt gets annoying to be honest. Half the BBQ joints in NC [especially eastern NC] are founded off of recipes of old black people who are either dead and gone OR who are working in the back as cooks in white owned establishments and it’s their DAMN family recipe!!! SMH.
I watched the video and I wasnt impressed. As a HBCU alumn, I’ve seen better. Perhaps it was the Sprite/MTV effect that caused them to win.
I did attend FVSU’s 2009 step show and liked it. However, I sat in the nose-bleed section AWAY from the kiddies.
I remember seeing the MTV show where the lone hispanics won the step show too. It is MTV though…remember that awards show year where J LO won the best hip hop video award, Eminem won the best rap, Justin R&B male and hell if Britney or Christina would’ve been in the running for female it probably would’ve been a clean sweep. 1 black person won an award in 4 or 5 categories for urban music.
They also have a show on now called Taking the Stage where last year the black dance sensation leaves his black ballerina girlfriend for the slightly heavyset white singer/songwriter. I read that there was a big debate on their boards where girls were complaining about MTV showcasing a black guy cheating/dumping his girlfriend for the white girl. This year he’s going straight in on the white chicks. My baby says she wont even bother to watch it this year…lol
So I had to watch it with the sound off, if they were the best I don’t wanna know what the competition was doing. Those girls were sloppy and had no groove. They performed the moves but…. where’s the feeling.
@ leapYearPices
well said
@Shauny I graduated from the school where taking the stage is filmed and yes sometimes it was like that. There really aren’t that many black guys that go there now. But wheneever a cute guy made it to the school everyone was on him.
I heard that those young ladies won for the females but the Alphas from Central State University (also my alma mater) won for the men. I could be wrong but that’s what I heard.
P.S How do I change my pic?
No offense but I think the crowd was more into them because they were white stepping like that..people just seemed amazed. I admit they did do good and had a high energy performance for that long (i would have been so out of breath) however maybe its just me and I saw those moves b4 performed at my high school. You can see at certain points people were just screaming when they did the matrix, wined, etc

Yes, I saw the episode with the lone hispanics. I was floored that they won because their whole routine was sloppy and all over the place. I think all of this is to prove that whites and others are just as good or better than blacks in areas that we created. I ain’t buying it. We always cheering them on like we are so happy that they are joining in on our events. Those chicks in that video were not even tight with their routine and if they were on my old step team they would have gotten the boot.

dag! yes you are right Me and some friends were jst talking about this, this weekend.
How we really dont know the ‘secrets’ to other cultures but they know alllll about us
Go on. @leapyear! Those were some well written points. You know the white man’s ice is ALWAYS colder to many African Americans. That being said, I haven’t been to a stepshow in years.

My brother-in-law is a chef and former restaurant owner (he lives in Salisbury, NC) and he said the same thing. I’m sick of this shit too, and black people (not the just the South either) are so apathetic that we sit back and praise them for copying our style because we want to be politically correct. We can’t put Massah on blast.
White folks talk about us, mock us, and tell us how inferior we are, yet we are steadily a topic in their lives while they steal everything from us and claim it as their own. The sad part is black people sit back and are still licking the white man and woman’s boots. I’m so through!
If I were GREEK…I’d feel some kind of way right now. but to echo the sentiment of a fellow poster. Let’s hear it for diversity.
@Leap Year Picses: You hit the nail on the head!
At least we still have the presidency….for now.
Ryan,
Yes, I’ve heard about Ralph’s. I am originally from Greenville, NC. I live in RTP now. Saw your other post. I will be in Charlotte this weekend for CIAA and we are having a college renunion [UNC-Charlotte].
@ Leapyear, I’m from Greenville also. I lived there for 17 years. Now I live in Raleigh. I work out in RTP. Small world!
They where alright…I’ve seen better at some of the step shows here in OKC…:coffee:
Hey all! *waves*

so I say this respectfully, that I am all for diversity, but why is it whenever we as black people talk honestly about the way things are and what has been done to us, and the wrongs that have been done to us, we do not beleive in diversity or we are labeled “reverse racists’? Why is it whenever we stand up and say “no, things are not still equal” we are looked as the enemy even within our own race? I am not prejudiced or racist, I got love for ALL people who got love for me, but IT IS WHAT IT IS…just cause I am pro my people, don’t mean I am anti everything else, HOWEVER when given a forum to voice my opinion about things such as this, I am not going to be quiet and act like there are not differences and that it’s all good because we still have a long way to go, I believe in diversity, but I believe in the preservation of my people-ESPECIALLY the BLACK WOMAN first. We are becoming an extinct species sistas, pretty soon they are going to have to put our arses on the list with the other extinct species, oh but I forgot they won’t do that, because that’s the plan. Get rid of the black woman, get rid of the backbone and structure of the race, then TOTAL contol can happen and it starts with little subliminal shyt like this…and even though I can’t see the video, I don’t need to, ain’t nothing cute about that shyt…doing what has been done for eons..taking something culturally and historically from the african culture and imitiating it and oh guess what and I quote from the orginal paragraph Sandra posted:
Ggouch, you know you and I are esisters
“They won cash scholarships and other prizes”…
Do y’all see a theme here? LOL
That’s what’s wrong with the world today, John Mayer can openly and freely state that his dyck is a “white supremicist” and everyone gives him a pass, but whenever we as blacks start speaking on the “silent truths” that most us “see” and “feel” on a daily bais, people say that we don’t believe in diversity or we are reverse racists, and that is not true.
I am through with my ranting today y’all…LOL
I get my Black Panther hat on about once a month [and it’s my birthday week and Black history month sooo…LOL still love all my SR Rose fam regardless of race, color or creed…REAL talk.
Nekita:
We need to hook up for lunch one day. What in the WORLD made you moved to Greenville?
leapyearpisces,
You speak with wisdom. The white man has done a job on us. We are so desperate to be accepted. Look up the Stockholm syndrome. It’s so hard to find Afrocentric peope who are in touch with reality. We will never, ever see a black homecoming queen/king at all white school (if I’m wrong, please correct me). Every other race sticks together except us. Black people have self-hatred. People with self-hatred pump up races other than their own; therefore, many of us see these white girls as better. It’s subconscious. That’s why we don’t stand up for ourselves and excuse their behavior. Does it dawn on people why Asians, Latinos, gays, Jews, and other don’t get attacked the way we do? Why? Because they would never tolerate it.
they bit of delta sigma theta so hard. i guess. they were ok. it started to look like cheerleading to me after a while, i couldn’t finish watching it.
it’s like they had a sigma or something give them a routine. gooooooooooooooooooo spirit fingers.
Yeah, they (white women) want our men, azz, lips, hair weaves and now our steps. Imitation is the highest from of flattery. Black women from this day forward do not walk with your head down. Pick it up right now. Selah.
I cna’t see the video but if they’re anything like the ZTA’s I went to undergrad with I’m not missing much. For me though I am on the fence because usually when a sorority not from NPHC arrives they get no love, let alone entry into the step show. I went to UNCC and I pledged a black female business & prefessional sorority by the name of Gamma Phi Delta, Sorority, Inc(1943!!!!) and you wouldn’t believe all the hate we got from the regular divine 9 sororities & fraternities. I was on the step team and we wanted to enter the step competition, they told us no because and I quote “yall aren’t NPHC and we would have to see how yall step” as if because we weren’t a member of the NPHC we weren’t capable of stepping OR in their words a REAL SORORITY….that cracks me up, they let us go on as an exhibition performance and we still did better, strolled better, stepped harder than them because we had heart. And btw for any memner of the divine 9 who throws that mess out about Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Inc, please do your research, NPHC offered us membership in 1988 and we respectfully declined because we were founded at a 2yr Business/Professional college and that would mean inactivating many of our founding members and those who continue to join our organization upon such campuses. Anywho I said all that to say, they let them enter but at other school’s and campuses won’t let their own enter simply because of ignorance, so maybe the problem isn’t with the “others” it’s whith us.

AM, there’s a step show that the AKA’s actually won? remember the pic of the line of guys who formed their own something, chapter, etc? they were the male aka’s i suppose? pink, green, all-a-dat.
I have read a lot of these comments. The white girls learned to step several years back from the AKA’s at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. They were pretty tight. I have been a step master and put togethera dozen shows. You can only do so much … I even find step shows boring. However the goal is to be tight and get the crowd participation (that is what the judges will give you big points on – I judge too). The probably got the “wow factor” but give them credit – they brought it.

ohpretty1, some black people can’t help but attack another black person. The roots of inferiority grow very deep and have carried us throughout many centuries. Some black people will never wake up and figure it out. Check out the Stolkholm Syndrome and check out Tim Wise. He explains it perfectly.
@ Leapyear. I was born and raised in G-Vegas. I’ve been here since 91. Oh we definitely need to do lunch. You going to CIAA?
@ pointhimout, you trying to crack on AKA(s)? Blank stare. If Sandra approves my comments, you will see a step show where my Sorors won.
Anyways, those mentally ill young men who wanted to be AKA(s)called themselves MIAKA(s). They were very disrespectful although their vests were slamming.
Skee Wee to all my sorors!!!
I pledged AKA my sophomore year in school…I stepped in my probate and I did one step show. These girls were good imo…but…It seems like they had some help from some Alphas and maybe a couple DSTs.
I know how some people feel about the situation. It’s like you work hard and pledge to be apart of something full of prestige and history and now “they” gotta be apart of it too….I remember people getting mad cause the Sigma’s pledged a white guy. I understand feeling that way. Minorities had to fight so hard to be accepted into colleges and universities, and when we did, we formed these groups as a way to distinguish ourselves. I’ve always said this about white americans…they don’t have a culture themselves (i’m not talking about italians etc). I mean really, think about it. They took our music, dancing, fashion…and the list goes on. So should it really be that surprising that a white sorority won a step show?
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR I am from Salisbury, NC what resturant your ppl own????
Skee Wee to Soror renegadesince1985!!!!
Since when is setting somebodys clothes on fire basic domestic stuff? I missed that memo
If somebody was in the clothes that were set on fire then attempted murder sounds right to me!
It ain’t a black or white issue … they are a greek letter organization, they went through the regional competitions, the judges were not all white, they competed and WON!! Get over it … I love my letters to death, I love the history behind them etc., heck my chapter has a white Kappa the first in our province. Guess what he got it the smae way I did and I respect him for that. They got to the finals the same way any other group did and won. If we don’t won’t other groups to compete then set the guidelines for entry. The playing field was level and they brought it!!
@Shuany I do NOT watch Taking to the stage anymore. I do still watch ABDC
I have a confession to make. I was mad as hell when I saw a white Soror at step show at Ramapo College in NJ in the early 90s. And I am still mad about it. Pray for me.

Now, on the flip side, I haven’t heard about the situation you are talking about, but growing up as a child in a home with domestic abuse, given I find out more info about the situation at hand, I am sure I will be JUST as passionate about that topic as well.
Meant form, not from. Sorry.
@Nupe they brought it to you to others NOT so much it seems so no need to stroke out on us
we need all the men to stay healthy around here. I did not watch but I would say I wonder if they brought it in general or did they bring it for some YT girls. I will watch the tape and decide when I get home.

Hey Civil *waves*
@leap you going to CIAA as well I see!!
Hey Daisy!!
It is getting hot in here between Civil and Miss Daisy. Civil, you know Daisy is claiming that she hasn’t had any sex in awhile. Can you help her out?
@nupe4life
Not trying to discredit their win. They were pretty good imo…but their steps were signature DST and Alpha moves. I understand why some people feel the way they do about yts in the divine 9. They can’t possibly identify with some of the principles our frats and sororities were founded on. It can’t mean as much to them as it does to a black person. The history behind these organizations doesn’t really apply to them. This is just my opinion….
Now…go head and get your e-stroll on…I dated a Nupe once..he made me a pink and green cane. I still have it to this day…taught me how to get my shimmy on….
Ok, I watched the video and they were ok but not on point. I’ve been to alot of step show in my days and seen alot better….high school step team are better..
I see alot of people going to CIAA this weekend.
Hey Civil, you kind of look like Mr. Goss in that pic
should be gross
@Daisy, it’s a small world, huh?
Well my brother-in-law doesn’t own a restaurant in Salisbury. He used to be a restaurant owner in New Orleans years ago, but he’s been a professional chef for decades. He lives in Salisbury now and has been there for about 5 years. My sister used to live there as well, but now lives in my hometown. She loves Salisbury and wants to move back.
Nupe4Life sound gay as hell. Everyone in here has a legitimate reason as to why our GREEK LETTERED tradition and cultures shoud be preserved, and shim ass in here talking about some ‘Get Over It’ sh*t.
Ain’t nobody but a faggot gonna say some sh8t like that. :homoswitch:
Civil is that you in your gravatar? O.K I see you looking all handsome and stuff…lol You looked like a lil baby in you last pic.
When was a set clothes on fire/being charged with attempted murder for it posted on SR? I didn’t see it today
LOL – I am not spazzing out seriously. I just know they won on an equal playing field, They learned to step from the AKA’s several years ago. You tube them they have many shows posted … @attorneymom – my fiance is black (lol). I love my sisters; At my college we would not show the non black Greeks how to step because they saw it as entertainment versus history. It’s all good obviously they won over the judges (who are usually greek affiliated – at least some of them). It’s all good … these girls won the 2008 homecoming step show @ the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) – wearing the same costumes and matrix concept – only they had 20 people stepping! You tube them and give ’em props. LMBO!!
@ReadTheBlog – open your mouth …
I got something to put in it!

but, I will have to take it easy since I am still epregnant with Bird’s future nephew or niece….LMAO :lolol:
After watching the other sororities Zeta Tau Alpha was not the best. I never did get why members of D9 organizations would teach other councils how to step when they generally have no knowledge of the history and tradition of stepping. ZTA won because the judges were celebrities (Chilli, Monique, & NeNe) who don’t have the knowledge to properly judge a stepshow. I think people’s main issue with this is that Sprite marketed the Step Off to be about honoring BGLO traditions through stepping. It seems most people didn’t even know that non-D9 orgs were going to be involved.

Nupe – for some reason, that did not offend me

Sandra won’t ban you, she know it’s all love. But that some “We are the world” sh*t. Man, for real. Go back and read the rest of this thread, ponder tonight, write me a shor essay (5 paragraps, 5 sentences each) on the preservation of African American Culture and Tradition and why we should preserve. It’s bigger than the Divine 9.
I dont’ even know you, but based on your comment, I would not trust you with any of my secrets

Like seriously! There was a time when men who were part of HBGLO were known to be the cream of the crop, real gentlemen; now they let any ole dude with a check join, then you get comments from e-thugs and e-hoodlums like this.
It’s bigger than the Divine 9.

Yep. Exactly. Those of us that are having this healthy discussion are NOT even talking about stepping and the black frats and sororities….
But I am gonna leave it alone because people are gonna eat and drink what they want. That is one thing I love about this country you can believe what you want, however my two are seven and they HAVE to eat and drink what I feed them and I am making damn sure I am not feeding them any junk.

@Shauny…I’m all “growed” up now and thanks. The color theme of my dad’s 50th bday party was red, black and white…I felt like covering all the bases
@shauny – comment 111 had nothing to do with the topic; just addressing the individual that tired me like a was “the one to come at sideways”.
@KaraZ – no thug here – actually I am quite successful; just did not appreciate the comment made toward me see #107.
If I offended you accept my apology. Go back and read #107 and you’ll understand.
I am not upset in anyway about this thread … we are all just trying to impose our opinions … LOL! Enjoy yourselves – I am out.
@the Kappa brother
umm if you act like and e-thug and debase yourself by using such euphemisms, don’t be surprised if I reach the conclusion that you’re an e-thug *shrugs*.
No need to apologize to me though, its yourself you should feel sorry for; after all you’re the one who has no other way to express your displeasure than to turn to rude sexual innuendo.
@KaraZ –
… you don’t make much sense. “I feel sorry for myself” … :rofl:.

Sandra must got lost today.
Is it just me or when you all watched the video did you get bored…To me it all seemed a bit 1 and 2 and…very cheerleadery ya know. Just my opinion…At the 2-3 minute mark I was like…dang, this goes on for 9 minutes…I just appriciate the swag my sistas put it their step my WHAT!!! I’m sorry, just an observation…I did not pledge but alot of my family are Deltas and they know how to get down…Again like I stated earlier I’ve seen better here in OK.

So should it really be that surprising that a white sorority won a step sho

ummm I think #111 was said because of what RTB calling him a faggot!! Nupe dude was “normal” up until that comment #108. Hell I would’ve responded too. Maybe not like that but still.
Renegade, My jaw dropped when I went to a conference in DC and saw a white and Asian soror. I was like ‘Say Whaaaaaa?” but it’s like it was said earlier, wehave a tendency to want to share what is accepted by others, when we should just keep it to ourselves.
Won’t be long before it’s turned into somthing perverted, or accused of being too sexual, or jungle-esque. DON’T BE SURPRISED WHEN IT HAPPENES. Birds fly, snakes slither, it’s what they were born to do and it isn’t questioned. Same goes for the enemy.
@Nupe
I think you made the best sense on here….smh imitation is the best form of flattery and anyone on here who doesn’t know or own their culture, history or past need to get closer to their relatives who can teach them more about it like I said and will say again can’t no white man or any man take anything from me GOD is ALMIGHTY in my world I don’t give folks power over me like that.
@Read
In today’s age where most people are trying to promote unity and not division amongst our race why is it so bad to see an asian or white soro-that’s reverse racism imo….and I’m from the DC area I think it’s a good thing to not only have blacks on a sorority – make it a universal thing-more cultures more enlightenment
Dang after watching the video I think they did great!! I’ve been to step shows all my life and after awhile they all started looking alike. My husband is an Alpha and he even liked these girls. And not because they’re white.

Isn’t this what our people fought AGAINST during the Civil Rights Movement? Segregation? Are you serious with the “keep it to ourselves” mentality??
@crzasallgetout
Unfortunately it seems that some black folks have not evolved or truly don’t understand what MLK’Jr’s dream was…I grew up in the 70’s and racism was just starting to dwindle but now I’m so annoyed at seeing how certain generations who know nothing of the real struggle have the nerve to promote more ignorance!
I think Rasheeda and her girls might have put hands on Sandra in retaliation for the previous post. That would explain her being MIA since the morning.
@choco,
I just hate when blacks does this “us against them” movement. This is 2010. Yes racism still exist but we have come along way from riding in the back of the bus, separate water fountains, and picking cotton in massa’s field. We don’t want other races to have what we have but pitch a fit if they were to have the same thought process. People would be calling Al Sharpton. I’m 32 years old and can honestly say I’ve never been discriminated against by another race but have had my own people treat me like crap. I tried to do the HBCU but that just wasn’t my cup of tea because they were stealing my SHIAT!! LOL
@Nupe4Life, would you like for some man to tell your fiancee to open her month so you can put something in it? I am just asking. Blank stare.
I am not Greek. But I know enough Black Greeks to know that they are protective of their tradtions. So with respect I must ask the question to those who felt some kind away about this non-black sorrority stepping in a “BLACK” (if you will) fashion: Why couldn’t this be looked at as something of a good thing, that something so beautiful and historical as stepping would want to be immulated by another sorrority? Didn’t they do it justice? the first 5 minutes I thought Iwas looking at black women in lace fronts..and I’m notkidding.
How can we DEMAND equality and still be of the attitude of “NO you can’t do that”?
Sorry, Nupe4Life. I just saw your apology. I think that was an apology. That was an apology, right?
So wait? Now there’s a problem with other races pledging Divine 9 sororities? I mean I get the tradition of it all but times have changed and we are not in the slave days. That has me feeling some kind of way and it furhter perpetrates the stereotypes that are out here about these organizations. I had a friend who was hispanic who pledged Alpha and all I can say is it wasn’t pretty, that disgusted me about the entire organization because let’s be real, if you’re gonna take the check don’t punsih the person for not “looking like the rest of you.” I swear I don’t get this at all and I come from a legacy of divine 9ers however the attitudes that people display who are apart of these groups is what made me turn away from legacy and do what everyone said I was crazy to do….idk, this just all strikes a nerve…for various reasons, but I know it will start an argument so I’ll digress…
Amen #142 GG!! I can’t believe some are offended/mad about this. Almost everybody I’ve dated has been Greek and all of my female friends are/were. Those girls did it better than some chicks I’ve seen step. At least they weren’t tired.
I see some ppl still painting with very broad brushes
“We will never, ever see a black homecoming queen/king at all white school (if I’m wrong, please correct me).”
@KrayZKat: I was crowned homecoming queen at Mississippi State University in 2001. I was nominated and elected by my peers (not that pageant way). MSU is a white SEC university and yep, I’m a black chick!
@pointhimout, I see you tryin to go in on AKAs. That thing with the gay guys is so 2005…every (ok maybe NOT every) sorority has it’s imitators if it’s worth imitating….just sayin
@attorneymom and renegadesince1985: SKEE-WEE MY SORORS!!
I hope those people were only kidding about other races joining. Hell I can’t recall the last time I so a LSLH AKA!! That stereotype is long gone. At least in Alabama.

If it’s all white how could you?? j/k
Skee Wee to Soror renegadesince1985, Soror AKAtastrophy1908 and Soror MsG!

“If it’s all white how could you?? j/k”
@ crzasallgetout: I actually originally had the same thought but then I thought “this is not the time to be a smart azz. You have a point to share.” LOL
Sorry Sorors MsG and SouthernPrincess for leaving yall out! Skeeeeeeeeeeeeee-wee! Pinkies up ladies! Love it- and you!
@Southern Thanks! I have alot of friends in my head as well on her and on the flip side folks who get on my last nerve on reserve just like a real family
I have numerous friends who are KD’s and DZ’s, etc.. who frequently mingled with the NPHC, not because they were groupies or white girls trying to be black, but because they were honestly trying to promote unity amongst the organizations and the student body as a whole.
I may be preaching to the choir but I don’t have a problem with it. Our goal should be to teach ppl to be color blind, so how is it okay that we do the exact opposite of everything ppl fought generations to accomplish. As long as they were not making a mockery of stepping then I have no qualms with these girls.
Also I think Daisy said she was in Salisbury—I’m in Winston. What up girl?
Where is Sandra?
@Aidan I am in the A but I am from the bury and I went to WSSU use to be a cheerleader and have my skirt popping like we are known for!
@AKAtastrophy1908, Skee Wee, my Soror.
Sidebar: Why folks who are not apart of the Divine Nine always got so much to say about the Divine 9? Blank stare.
I am not surprise to see other races in BGLOs at all. My LS (my back) is white! We were roommates before we joined too! One of my “Big Sisters” was white. Shoot, there was even an Asian (I think she was Asian) AKA.
Oh, and my other LS (my front), who is black, was crowned homecoming queen, and we went to a white school!

@Attorneymom
That’s why. Why the attitude? I mean I get the pride and whatnot, but this is my point, I’m sure in alot of people’s heads they assume that if you aren’t divine 9 you’re not good enough, real enough, whatever may be the case and what I’m saying is that is not always the case and I’ve heard it due to the organization I chose to pledge because most divine 9 don’t know their NPHC history. If in the end we are promoting unity and service in out communities then does it really matter what you are a member of? And I mean that as far as the negativity towards other organizations, including those within the divine 9.
Aw hell nawl, SouthernPrincess is a Soror. You knew I was a Soror and you came after me? Blank stare and sideeye. Don’t think you are hurting me by not acknowledging me because I am still your Soror provided you are not perpetrating a fraud.
Whooo chile! @aidansmom, there is no such thing as being colorblind. We were created in different colors for a reason. I respect other races, but I refuse to not acknowledge our differences for the sake of making others comfortable. I am proud of my “blackness”. Why can’t we ever have an honest conversation anymore?
What’s with the Divine 9 vs the “other orgs”? I have no beef with people belonging to other organizations. I myself am a Zeta and was a part of an “international honors society in education” fraternity. You are my brothers and sisters and I love you all, even if you don’t love me back.
I saw the video and all I could think of was popcorn. Many of the steps lacked precision.
@Walking, Divine Nine was about college educated Black folks uplifting their OWN community. We Black folks have a lot of things we still need to work on.
@downsouthzeta
with your colorblind comment. I dont listen to M.Baisden anymore but when I did I believe he started an org. called Iseecolor.org! I am black and proud *power to the people* I dont have a problem with other races but I wont pretend to be color blind either esp. not to make them feel more comfy. I can see very well
Also, ppl love to bring up Dr Kings dream but on the flip side alot of ppl feel it was a nightmare all the same #justsaying
Hey daisy!! I didn’t recognize you with your new pic… I am about tired of this house…ughhhh!!!
@Attymom
I can get with that, the org I joined was founded at a 2yr black business/professional school, that’s really why I think there is so much more to do amongst “US”, they expanded to 4yr colleges/universities as the need expanded but most were already professional women when they joined and that also has alot to do with why they declined NPHC membership, but they serve the community and youth the same.
I’m not colorblind either Daisy, I’ve seen too much, but at the same time I still don’t like that to be the first thing others look at when they see me, but I’m sure that will never change….first they see black, then they see a woman, then they see a short woman, lol!
Sandra….
puh’leeeeeeeeeezzze
@Rene hey girl *waves* When do u come back to the A?
@Walking We see what we see I dont want them to see black and scratch me off the list per say but I dont care if they see a short black woman cause that is what I am at 1st glance (5’3 on a good day so I say
)
Ummmmm I can’t see the video….but from the comments……it’s somr deep shyt going on in here

Hey @Renegade! No new interviews? Hate to hear you going stir crazy……
I need to come through the A and hang with you and Daisy….
Check out the CottonFieldMovement dot com.
@Daisy I keep thinking your gravi is CE
@AttorneyMom….We are Sorors. No fraud here sweetie.
Also you started the E-Beef (for a lack of better words). You made some very disheartening and offensive statements about blacks that attended Ivy League schools. I addressed as a Soror then asked you what about Sorors like myself that attended Ivy League schools. You never addressed me as a Soror however you went on to say I had self hate because of my choice of schools and I had been brainwashed LOL
So needless to say I loved youfrom a distance,,,hell I didn’t even attend your e-funeral. That has to count for something….No harm no foul Skee Wee!Soror
Lol, @ Daisy, I’m 5’3 & 1/2, although I have to fight for that 1/2, lol…..
lol @Walkin Bless your heart….you hold on to your half girl.
@VI
Hey!…No new interviews as yet unfortunately
@SouthernPrincess
@southernprincess I remember that post…..

And that e-funeral was only about three people deep
@renegadesince1985, thanks. LOL
Ebony put that popcorn up LOL
ViBaby, All I know is when I entered that post they were recruiting singers. I didn’t even stay in it, so I honestly don’t know who was involved
Is anyone watching intervention? This esp is crazy!
@leapyear I went to JH Rose. North Pitt was out by my neighborhood. I l ive in Greenfield Terrace. We definitely need to link up.
@attorneymom – My fiancewould not call anyone a fag out of the blue (she has class). I did apologize to those I offended, but I did not apologize to RTB.
As for the homecoming queen … I went to Vanderbilt (you can’t get any whiter) we have had black HC queens and a king. Vandy had a white Delta recently, a white Nupe in the early 90’s (Old Skool Pledging). When black folks get together we can make anything happy – U-N-I-T-Y!!
my bad happen not happy
@ southernprincess
I have been to a couple of step shows. I like watching the male steppers
What up PM crew *waves*
Celeb fit club time was watching Forest Gump he really loved Jenny
Reppin NC today, I am in raleigh! I was bored after two minutes. I saw alot of Delta, Alpha, AKA, and Q steps in this show, the line formations were not tight or the transitions smooth (note big gap between person 2 and 3 in the line). My comments have nothing to with them being white, it’s just true. Stepping takes alot of work and at a real stepshow judged by sorors and frats, not Monique, Ludacris and NeNe. They would have picked up on that. There was alot of hooping and hollering at the beginning BECAUSE they were white. I have no problem with diversity but bring your own stuff to the table and then you get my respect. Which is exactly what they expect of us on the job daily. That was scholarship money taken on the back of others work. I am greek,DST, and know how hard it is to step and the work it takes to teach new members.
@Southern
@VI A girl can dream cant she :lolol:
@Rene Let me add you back to my
list
@Indesign I am a wannabe
DST didnt know how to act and were always off the yard while I was in collge and I am to cheap to go grad as of yet. I may break down in the next few yrs.
@Indesign … every show has mistakes, but did they really take away from the show that much? I saw the one chick on the right totally mess up and forget where she was, but it was still tight overall … I’ve been on this thread all day; some people are not keeping it real with themselves. It was not the best show ever, but it was good. However I respect your opinion; we all have one right.
Hey SR after dark crew *waves*
@Daisy, you watching celebrity fit club? Why is Bobby Brown lips ashy, like he was sucking on Gary Coleman’s nipples? K-Fed Baby Momma doesn’t look like she needs to be on there imo

Joel, Joel, Joel. @ Daisy, just to let you know, he told me that when he licks his lips, he’s sending me a signal
@MsKay Eric addressed the sex addict label that is something he said he went along with to try and save his marriage but there was only one woman (one to much he knows) but he really wanted his marriage to work so he was willing to do anything. I never believe the sex addict story anyway. Halle said on Oprah thats something her mama threw out there.
@Nika he looks good period to me!
I see you! @ VI
Your kids are ADORABLE!!!!
They did their thing so I give props where props is do. I highly doubt i could step for 9 minutes. Haven’t seen a step show in quite some time…and I doubt i will any time soon!!On to the next one….

Is Jackie reading our comments under his posts?
You should always search a possible beau’s FB page…and Google them and run their name thru the state database!
Did he check out Pep’s man hands too?
Why is Jackie going to tell him she saw his facebook page???? All types of wrong…
Awww thanks @Renegade
@VI I need to go look at your kids on FB
@mskay I just had that FB/dating convo today. My gfriend asked me do I think its ok to look at somebodys page you are dating I said I dont know
I told her ppl do it all the time more than likely.
Jesus let me be a glass of wine so Joel can swallow me.
@ Daisy, I would. You never know these days. But I wouldn’t say anything like Jacque is.
I like Tom…this guy is
MSKAYLA!! What did I tell you?!?!?
Not feeling Pepas date
@Mskay I barely check my own fake FB page so I dont have time to keep up w/somebody elses
Sorry VIBaby. I was just sayin’… Sorry!
I’m not feeling Pepa’s date either.
Joel is stuttering when talking about Maya. Red flag??
This guy AINT for Kittie.
@Daisy- you right girl! I too am not feeling this guy Pep is with, I think Pep is bored with Tom! LOL Kittie not feeling this guy when her dates are usually sucking toes and going to strip clubs and he is Krass~ sideye~
Jackie for somebody is rushing to have babies tomorrow, she is getting her FB PI on. LOL!
Jacque could have handled it better but I sorta see where she was coming from
@indesign I think thats what turned Jacque off she is ready to be settled down and married within 6mths-1yr so she aint playing no games she isnt trying to waste time she doesnt have bless her heart lol
So Jacque is giving up on Joel because what?? She said they will be friends only basically.
Tom isn’t cute to me
Kitties toe sucker stay sniffing around her
@MsKay cause he came off as a player to her and she is ready to settle down and be his/somebodys one and only. Not sure how long they had been kicking it but she wasnt happy with all the women posting on his page is what I gathered
@daisy you are right she doesn’t have time but she handled that all wrong tho, LOL. She should have kept those cards close til it was at least official.
But that makes me wonder if you are in a rush to get married in 6 months to a year can you be as picky???? HMMM SR family!
Ok you go ahead do that grad chapter, now, cause sound SR is full of AKA’s. It all love though!
I know this so wrong but Pep’s date lips was black and Tom’s lips look like two little red balloons http://sandrarose.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_shrug.gif
@Indesign I guess she cant be picky but then she doesnt want to waste time either she is in a catch 22 again bless her heart. I pray I am not in her shoes later on down the road with wanting a baby with no man in sight YIKES!
Super late but Skeewee my sorors.we are deep lol
Hey guys, thanks for being so patient while I handle technical difficulties with my computer. When they tell you to back up your files, do not keep putting it off. Back up your files! I’ll try to update in the morning. But if not, I should be back online by noon tomorrow.

I addressed as a Soror then asked you what about Sorors like myself that attended Ivy League schools. You never addressed me as a Soror however you went on to say I had self hate because of my choice of schools and I had been brainwashed LOL
*********************************************************
I don’t remember you ever asking me this question; otherwise, I would have answered. You may have been one of the few Blacks (like my hero Van Jones) who survived the damage that is done to Black folks who attend predominantly white schools. If you are honest, you would tell the truth about classism and how the Black elite look down the non-Black elite. You can’t tell me that folks with Ivy League degrees don’t think they are better off or more privileged than those that graduate from HBCU(s). Perhaps I may have struck a chord in you that you are not ready to deal with at this time. Thus, I have created the Cotton Field Movement to help the Black elite and the “hoodrat” understand that we are in the same color boat and we need each other. Like Muhammad Ali said to me, “[In some folks’ eyes,] you still a nigga.” Selah.

So needless to say I loved youfrom a distance,,,hell I didn’t even attend your e-funeral. That has to count for something….

Soror, you better not have attended my e-funeral.
Sidebar: The e-funeral did make me laugh.

Okay, you are officially off my s*** list. Skee Wee to you, my Soror.
Skee Wee to Sorors ohpretty1 and commonswife.
@Sandra, we are going to need an emoticons for AKA(s) that says “Skee Wee!” And, don’t forget about my FRAUD ALERT emoticon.

Hey guys, thanks for being so patient while I handle technical difficulties with my computer.

It’s called pay your bill.
I see people are still haters! Steppin has been around sooooooooooo long that the only choices that competitors have is to copy styles from others. Just like oveerated R&B artists (Beyonce) today that cant sing a lick but can copy styles and sounds, and shake their behinds and call it entertainment. This is not the first time an all white group won a step show and it wont be the last. I give props to them because it was creative.
Gravi check
Good Morning SR Fam. I hope you all have a great day
i wouldn’t have given them prize even if they were the best. i would have sent their *sses home empty handed.
If they won then everyone else mus have sucked really bad…they were boring and I couldn’t watch the whole vid. and it looked like they weren’t even into the routine but just going through the motion..
