I had one word when I watched this video after loyal reader Debra emailed it to me last week: shocked!
The video was filmed during a dance competition in California on April 10. It shows 5 scantily clad 8 and 9-year-old girls dancing to Beyonce’s hit song “Single Ladies.”
Now that the video has gone viral all over the Internet, two of the parents have come forward to defend their lack of parenting skills. The two parents appeared on Good Morning America today (I guess the other parents were too embarrassed to show their faces on TV).
Cory Miller, the father one of the dancers, said the video was “taken completely out of context,” and the performance was “completely normal for dancing.” Sure it is — completely normal for dancing in a strip club! I’ve seen strip moves that are tamer than the dance steps these children performed.
Another parent, Melissa Presch, defended the children’s skimpy outfits, which she claimed were necessary for flexibility.
“The costumes are designed for movement, unrestricted movement and to show body lines,” she said. What body lines???
“We’re very proud of our daughters and their accomplishments,” she added.
Well, I hope that in a few years these two idiot parents will be equally as proud when their daughters come home knocked up and make them instant grandparents.
Thanks, Sandra I just asked about this in the TI post
I saw this on GMA. Wow, and that’s not a good Wow.
No words for this mess.
I can’t even comment on this f*ckery right here. >:(
Over sexualization of kids…that’s one reason you have pedophiles molesting kids left and right. Like dangling a juicy steak in front of a rabid dog.
A friend of mine and I were talking about this yesterday.
Far from appropriate, IMO.
That couldn’t be my daughter. Once I saw the outfits and routine, my child would have been pulled out and I would have found a dance studio that teaches age appropriate choreography.
Somewhere there’s a pedophile getting off to this viral video.
Are these parents okay with that too???????

What the f*ck happened to letting kids be friggin kids??? At 8 and 09 years old, I was outside running, playing, and acting like a damn kid. SMH.
How long has this tour been around? Do we HONESTLY believe this is the first young group to “gyrate” on stage??????????
I wonder why “THIS” group is getting so much attention?
Um…. yeah….
This is a
on so many levels. The young girls are holding their legs up and spinning like a stripper.
If my child’s dance studio were going to do this in a competition she would have been removed.
Beyonce is a grown woman this are children big difference.
I blame Beyonce for this shyt
This mess right here, is part of the problem with nation…pimping their daughters out for their pleasure.
And they look older than 8 or 9 years old.
This reminds of the child model that was on Tyra and she can walk better than the many of the contestants on ANTM…some man commented on a video of her that she was very sexy. This disturbed me, wouldn’t only a pedophile find a 9 year old sexy?
CivilEngineer says:

~~~~~~~
It’s are job as parents to keep Beyonce’ and Rih out of the home. Little boys are also imitating this mess. Parents monitor what your kids watch. If you don’t know what goes on in someones home don’t send your kids.
I blame Beyonce for this shyt
If I had a daughter, her dancing abilities would never be the question. But if some of these dance moves and outfits were put into the routine, she would not be participating. And it’s as simple as that. The line has to be drawn somewhere. And my stand on “No” comes waaay before the perversion issue. It is NOT okay for a little girl to p-pop and booty pop on stage in Vickies(or something similar). It is NOT okay for a little girl to wear breast enhancements. It is NOT okay for a little girl to wear more makeup than a drag queen. It is NOT okay for little girls to sell the “image” of their bodies.
Okay I guess I have to go to another site to watch video…brb that’s abbreviation for be right back- I crack myself up ; )
The parents HAD to be ok with this; the kids are only 8 or 9. Its not like they drove themselves to rehearsals and bought their own outfits. I blame the parents in this case. If I was a father I wouldn’t want to see my kids gyrating on stage and definately not in scantidly clad attire. Also I’m glad that this was a white group of kids because if young black girls were dancing ppl would assume that it was “expected for them to imulate what they are exposed to!”
@Queen cute pic!
@topic
The dancing was on POINT YES but the outfits and some of the moves were way to grown. I would have had to have a new uniform and a few dance moves removed before I signed off on my child partcipating.
@Man just cause we may have seen it before doesnt make it right esp. at such a young age IMO
Now Beyonce can’t make music for grown people? I can’t believe people are blaming her. Now I guess all artist should make music that not only appeals to adults, but children as well
please. Everybody likes to blame someone else. If their parents agreed to it, which they did, then put the blame where it belongs.
I saw that much. I was trying to see how many years it has been around. I saw info dating back to 2008 but couldn’t find anything more than that before I got lazy and gave up.
Still, I think this is an overreaction. I seriously doubt this was the most “sexual” (I don’t find it to be sexual) routine in history for 8 year olds.
Nah Sandra they will just be Video H*e’s opps I mean models.
They dance better than strippers. The parents should let the give lessons to the clubs every tuesday @8pm. In the ballroom Gucci threw his out of jail dinner party. Give them a head start.
OMG girls…
yeah, I guess. I just think it’s an overreaction IMO. Could they have toned it down, sure. Are they being “pimped” or “exploited?” No. Just some kids doin a routine from a video.
I have 1 sister and 3 cousins that were all in dance up until they were 18 and every one of them has done a choreographed dance from a popular video of the time. Maybe it’s just me.
@Man The website does not say, only the above is there.
Hello All. Just watched this video and what can we say? It’s just another sign of the times. I often watch young girls in my hood dance and they be just a popping and snapping their coochies, you know, just like Beyaki. (They can only imitate what they see.) Back in the day, we watched Soul Train, that’s about as risque as you got back then. Now we have Beyaki, RiRi, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, etc that our girls adore and emulate. Again, just the sign of the times. Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
@iscream did you watch the video? OMG girlz are NOT that bad IMO
@Man I danced and cheered for years (have a cousin that still does) this was NOT normal back in my day but hey I guess times have changed. Are you saying you would let your little girl perform such a routine? You say its not sexual would it be sexual if they were developed? #justasking
The claim the routine was from the Alvin and Chipmunks 2 movie.
You are not alone.
When I watch old (Pre-teen, teen) footage of Beyonce she is not half dressed. She is not dancing like a stripper.
“Go Tay Tay” dancing has been around before Beyonce and will be around after Beyonce.
I can’t see the video to say if the dancing is over the top or not. If this is a professional atmosphere then what’s really the problem?
will we start blaming Solonge for cheerleaders flipping showing their under garments.
@ Anna, Thats the parents claim….. they say its our sick minds that has us thinking something wrong with the routine.
Some of it I dont remember Bey doing spinning around wit her leg up n the air.
Going to Google single ladies vid, some of the things could have been taken out to make it age appropriate. Just cause you see it done does not make it right.
Those parents need to be
that was TOTALLY unacceptable in this day in age….kids being raped, molested..we need to learn to prtect our children… my child takes dancing lessons, but NOT like that
I read somewhere that some pervert molested an 18 month old child and gave her a sexual transmitted disease.. gotta save our kids from monsters and teach them about loving themselves and respecting them
@DAISY
____________________________________________________________________________________
I wouldn’t have a problem with this routine. I don’t know, maybe I’ve just seen worse. I mean, back in the day one of those routines did one after the song “Moulin Rouge.”
That’s a good point about whether I would change my opinion based on them being “more developed.” I would probably be more concerned if my daughter was more developed than less so. The fact is more nasty men would pay attention to her being developed than her not being developed. I know they got child molestors and stuff but I think there are MORE of them after the young developed girls than the undeveloped girls. I don’t know.
I still think people are going way overboard on this one tho.
Can we please use another word for gyrate!? Everytime I read that I get a flashback to Cicely Tyson in that Tyler Perry movie
YOU CANT BLAME BEYONCE FOR THIS. YOU MUST BLAME THE CHOREGRAPHER FOR PUTTING SUCH SEXUAL EXPLICT MOVES IN A ROUNTINE FOR 8-9 YR OLD GIRLS. I HAVE BEEN A CHEERLEADER COACH/CHOREGRAPHER FOR 11 YRS AND WE HAVE RULES THAT WE MUST ABIDE BY IN THE CHEERING/DANCE ORGANIZATION OR YOU WILL BE FINED. MY DAUGHTER WAS CHEERING AND HER COACH TRIED TO PULL SOME BS FROM UNDER THE HAT AND I STEPPED AWAY FROM MY TEAM TO LET HER KNOW HONEY WE WILL BE FINED AND MY CHILD WILL NOT DO THAT. WHEN IN COMPETION YOU ARE JUDGED ON NUMEROUS THINGS AND TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT THE JUDGES DEDUCTED FOR VULGARITY AND BECAUSE THE UNIFORM WASNT AGE APPROPRIATE. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR THE TECHINCAL ASPECT (MEANING BODY LINES) IN CHEERING/DANCING BUT THEY STILL WANT THEM IN THE IMAGINE OF A MINOR.
Yeah, i just saw where you said you’ve seen worse. I have too. Like I said, they could have “toned it down” some but all in all it was a recreation of **KANYE VOICE** “…one of the greatest videos of all time.”
It was a hip hop dance contest, they did a very popular and often cited dance routine.
I swear, the ONLY reason this is getting the attention it does is because the kids were yt.
**googling past dance routines**
Where can I began? As a proud mother of my daugther who has been dancing since the age of four, I am not in shock. I go to six to eight competitions a year and this is the norm for alot of dance studios. This is not the case at my daugthers dance studio. The director and teachers all have degree’s in dance and have danced professionally for years. Our dance team wears all over body tights under everything. Our costumes are parent friendly and by this, a parent has to approve the costume beofre writing the check. Booty popping is a no-no. Bra tops , nope. Our dance director samples all music but you will never see our girls looking like strippers even if meant not taking first place. This dance competition should have taken off points for the outfits. I am sure after this , they will change the rules so they can continue to profit.
You can tell from the dancing that they are skilled dancers. So I don’t have a huge issue with the dancing. I do have a problem with the clothes. They were barely dress.. Side Note: I was watching Anderson Cooper talk to Dr. Phil about this and something I didn’t like that Anderson Cooper said is that it’s clear that he girls were at an URBAN dance competition.. WTH????? It was only a matter of time, before someone would try to link their actions to being Urban…. I did agree with Dr. Phil when he said something about pedophiles lurking and watching the video. My first thought that this video is a pedophiles dream come true.. SMH…
@ Choco
Yeah I’ve seen worse. I don’t agree with the outfits but IMO they can dance. I remember kids being called in the room to show mama’s company her new dance move.
the outfits are awful and then they get jiggy wit it at the end. i guess if it’s white, it’s right tho. body lines…smh.
Just watched the Good morning interview. The parents were definately a little off. To say the outfit shows contours and body lines is crazy. They make all over bodytights to go under costumes.
Pretty pic @gyps!
I just hope that everyone who has watched the dance routine.. all over the world or where ever its has been broadcasted, that those people are not child molesters and did not view those provocative dance moves as sexy.. thats all
I was a P popper as well growing up. Hell most times then not a molester is someone the child knows. Again, I don’t agree with the outfits but besides from maybe one move I don’t see anything wrong with the video.
The parents are living through their kids. They think it’s cute because it’s something they want for themselves. My daughters are 4 and 13 and both of them still have to wear 1pc bathing suits and my 13 y/o has to wear swimming shorts too cause she filling out back there. I will do whatever it takes to protect them, even when we are having fun. I won’t have them hanging all out for the sake of dance or nothing else. All it takes is one time for someone to rub against them inappropriately or graze them in some seemingly innocent gesture and it can never be taken back. I never want them to feel like they have a dress a certain way to get attention, be popular for being witty and smart, too many young women self worth is tied up in their looks. Its too many pervs running around and unfortunately we have to be guarded, these parents are slipping.
Too young, too grown, too damn much……
Big big fan of Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain. But I love me some Gretchen and Carrie Norwood. Back in the day Leann Rymes was so good and I love Leann Womack and ok I’ll stop now.
The outfits are the worst part. Adult women look skank in them so you know it’s not appropriate for children. The booty shaking wasn’t good but this is unfortunately the kind of music videos young people are watching just like back in the 80’s we had Madonna but she was only one woman dressed revealing unlike these days where 80% of the young women singers are acting like skanks. They are good dancers though.
As many of you may already know, I have a ten year old daughter. Thankfully, she’s still somewhat a tomboy and isn’t into cheering and dancing much. Praise God! He knows I have my hands full enough with her hair, clothes and basketball. Anyway, I viewed the video and to be honest, the dancing wasn’t that bad to me. As someone mentioned above, there were definitely a few questionable moves but when pairing those moves with the costume; it’s definitely not a good look! My daughter would not be on that stage dry humping the air talking about “put a ring on it”. But hey, what does my opinion matter? These aren’t my kids
PS This Sunday, one of my letters may be published in the WashingtonTimes.(It may be Sat) It’s about the murder of Alonte Sutton, an 18 yr old who got killed in DC recently. He was an intern to DC councilman Michael Brown and an A student at Ballou High. (They say he was never late for work.) I wrote that I hate to play that nasty ole race card but if Alonte had been an outgoing, academic-minded, young white American, it would have made natl news, like the LaCrosse player who was killed by her boyfriend. She made natl news 10 days in a row, including all the major tv stations yet Alonte’s murder has been covered in only 2 local papers. “Don’t let Alonte be just another n-word dead.” Let’s see if they have the balls go print this line! They always seem to edit my stuff, often leaving out the most important part of my message. (Hell, I gots so much to say and so much love and wisdom to share with mankind, and a lot of ideas to make things better, especially for my peeps!) America, Make me the new black Ann Landers! I’m outta here. Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Toddlers and Tiara’s is worse than this..well at least I think it is, can’t watch the video.
@ crza & OTB I love the Dixie Chicks and Tim McGraw! They said that Natalie was focusing on her family right now. The two sisters said they felt like something was missing since they have sung all their life so thats why they went back in the studio.
THIS is exactly how I’m feeling right now. I just want to drive somewhere, anywhere!
I haven’t read all the comments yet, so forgive any duplicate comments, but I am APPAULED! I just saw the interview on GMA of the parents, and couldn’t believe they were justifying this nonsense. The parents stated that the routine was for the judges eyes only What? Then if the outfits and routine were appropriate, why would it be an issue if the public viewed your girls “innocently” dancing? Why must be continue to sexualize our girls. I wish I would have mine out there looking like a mini-stripper. This in INSANITY TO THE 100TH POWER! The girls didn’t think anything was wrong with the route. OF COURSE NOT, THEY ARE CHILDREN. They don’t know any better. It’s the stupid parents that are supposed to make these judgement calls.
On another blog yesterday, some were blaming Beyonce for this mess. She had nothing to do with this. I wish people would stop allowing artists to raise their children and teach their children right from wrong!
80% of their dance routine was actually quite good, showing flexibility and technical dance skills but then here comes the Royce-like puzzy popping and attempt at azz shaking… a pedophile’s wet dream.
There’s something wrong with the parents if they don’t have a problem with the outfits, looking like burlesque dancers, the sexual portions of their dance routines and the song choice… WTF does a 9yr old need to be singing along with or even hearing single ladies for?
@Anna… And Happy Friday to YOU !!!
@Yvonne… Yeah I here that The ATL is just a BLACK Hole Abyss as far as finding Some Real Dudes to socialize with (Sad but True…) Have a safe trip and ENJOY yourself (Real…)
NOLA,
Cute baby!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone! I rarely comment on here, but I’m an everday lurker.
Anywoo… I couldn’t watch the entire video when I saw it a few days ago. It was just too much for me… I have two daughters (6 and 2); I work in law enforcement and attend many trainings involving crimes against children. As someone stated earlier.. there’s a pedophile somewhere enjoying the HAIL out of this video. Sad to say or think, but it is true. As parents we are our children’s FIRST line of defense. We have to defend them in such a way that wasn’t as necessary when we were kids. Times change and our approach to defending our children must change as well… for the better. I sincerely pray that not only these children in this video, but all children that are placed in more mature roles than what is necessary will remain protected from the ill wills of sick people.
Off topic… but umm how do you all do the emoticons?
lol yall are funny, I think you all like picking apart things that don’t need to be over annualized. If any of you are familiar with jazz routines alot of the costumes are quit similar to this. I don’t agree with there outfits but the routine is cute, if the girls were black would yall be so outraged?
Raven says:
The parents are living through their kids. They think it’s cute because it’s something they want for themselves. My daughters are 4 and 13 and both of them still have to wear 1pc bathing suits and my 13 y/o has to wear swimming shorts too cause she filling out back there. I will do whatever it takes to protect them, even when we are having fun. I won’t have them hanging all out for the sake of dance or nothing else. All it takes is one time for someone to rub against them inappropriately or graze them in some seemingly innocent gesture and it can never be taken back. I never want them to feel like they have a dress a certain way to get attention, be popular for being witty and smart, too many young women self worth is tied up in their looks. Its too many pervs running around and unfortunately we have to be guarded, these parents are slipping.
And thank’s to cupcake! Very well stated…
I really don’t think this has anything to do with color…They are 7-8- and 9 years old!!!!! WTH is wrong with these parents? Anything for fame I guess..smh..
@Nola- What a cutie!!! Who is that baby in your (gavatar) lol ???
@ TheRealAshland… i cant’ speak for anyone else, but it would bother me just as much as it bothers me now regardless of the race of the children. Of course us regular folks can see it as a “dance routine”; unfortunatley there are sooo many crazies out there that think otherwise.
We must defend and protect our children from both known and UNKNOWN threats!
@TheRealAshland – if we’re picking it apart, the whole country and those abroad are too. Most are insensed by this. Children this age should not be dressing and doing such a grown dance routine. What’s next? In 5 to 10 years, they’ll have kids on poles and people will be saying, “Ah, must ado about nothing.”
If they were black girls, I believe there would be MORE comments. You know how black girls/women are oversexualized. Children are being attacked, raped, murdered and used for sick people’s pleasure, so why put it out there for someone to get off on? That’s why child porno is outlawed. These children are innocent and don’t need to be acting like grown arse women. JMO.
@Cupcake, excellent comment and very true. Times have changed.
There is an emoticon link right above the comment box in purple.
Thanks April Rain and co-sign with krayZKat
I’d just like to add that children should stay in their lanes as children, and adults should not widen the highway for them before their time. Again, God’s grace be with these and other children. For real.
Thanks kraZycat! i get to use emoticons now!!
..sorry i messed up your name
lol @ cupcake!!!!
When my daughter was that age and asked to get a bikini, I told her it was against the law for parents to allow girls under 18 to wear that. Anytime she tried to wear something risque, I’d say “do you want me to go to jail?” She was about 16 before she found out it was a lie.
Thanks everyone. This is my baby, I don’t know if I told you guys my story. But I was unable to have children or so I had been told. My husband and I adopted 5 children through foster care and then BAMM I got pregnant at 41. So this little one is our latest blessing.
@Ashland…yup! Before this I was outraged at the Jonesboro GA girls hoochie dancing at ball games and they black and they from around the way. Don’t twist it into a color thing, it’s about little girls not knowing what they are doing and their parents not protecting them. There is no need for anyone to see LITTLE GIRLS bootyshake and p-popping –TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE. They are imitating women, but they are not women.
@ SunnyPA.. now that is a GOOD one! @ NOLA.. so precious!
Congrats. I think many can’t conceive because they are too consumed with the idea and don’ relax. When we are not trying is when things happen. Just like if you are not looking for a man a good one comes along.
look at lil whoadie, lol! that’s an AMAZING story.
MANY GIRLS PERFORM ROUTINES LIKE THIS IN DANCE/CHEERLEADING COMPETITIONS
IT’S NOT LIKE THERE OUT ON THE CORNER PARADING AROUND AND MORE THAN LIKELY THEIR PARENTS ARE IN THE AUDIENCE WATCHING
I SWEAR THE MEDIA CAN TURN VIRGIN MARY INTO A HOE AND HAVE PEOPLE BELIEVING THE NONSENSE
THE GIRLS ANYBODY SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH IS NOT THE ONES WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS DANCE, PERFORMING OR SIMILATING DANCE ROUTINES THAT ENTERTAINERS PERFORM IN VIDEOS ON TV ETC.
THE GIRLS THEY “NEED” TO BE CONCERNED WITH IS THE ONES WHO ARE DOING MORE THAN POPPING THEIR COOCHIE ON A STAGE BUT ACTUALLY ARE UNSUPERVISED AND HAVING SEX AND MAKING BABIES
THESE YOUNG LADIES I HIGHLY DOUBT ARE WHORES, THEIR MIMICKING A VIDEO I GUESS THE BABY WHO WAS MIMICKING BEYONCE VIDEO IS A HOE IN TRAINING ALSO??GTFOH
IT’S EASIER TO MAKE A MOUNTAIN OUT OF A MOLE HILL AND PRETEND TO BE DOING A WHOLE LOT A SOMETHING BY YAPPING ABOUT AN ISSUE THAT IS REALLY NOT ONE TO BEGIN WITH
THAN IT IS TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT A REAL ISSUE-LIKE RAPE, TEEN AGE PREGNANCY, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ETC.
LOL-PEOPLE SLAY ME
P.S. CHEARLEEDERS PERFORM SIMILAR MOVES AND WEAR LESS CLOTHES THAN THAT, ICESKATERS, AND GYMASTS AS WELL-DOESN’T SEEM TO OFFEND ANYONE THEN
AND HOW MANY OF YOU WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET GROWING UP TALKING ABOUT ROCK STEADY
CHANTING YOUR NAME, SIGN, ETC. AND WIGGLING YOUR AZZEZ, PREFERABLY WHILE THE NEIGHBORHOOD BOYS WALKED BY OR WATCHED-WHATEVA
WHY IS IT PEOPLE GROW UP AND FORGET WHAT THEY DID ALL OF A SUDDEN
IT’S LIKE SAYING IF YOU DRESS PROVACTIVELY YOU DESERVE TO BE RAPED, WELL HOW ABOUT THE OLD WOMEN WHO AREN’T DRESSED THAT WAY THAT GET RAPED
A RAPIST, PEDOPHILE, IS JUST THAT-IF THEY WANT TO COMMIT A CRIME AGAINST A WOMAN OR CHILD WHAT THEIR WEARING AND WHAT THEIR DOING HAS VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH THEM BECOMING A TARGET
Just when I think I’ve figured it out…
HOW MANY CASES OF THE YOUNG GIRLS WHO’VE RECENTLY WERE ABDUCTED AND OR KILLED AND IT WAS DUE TO THEY WERE GYRATING OR SHAKING THEIR BEHIND OR DRESSED IN DANCE GEAR
C’MON FOLKS-SERIOUSLY ONE DON’T HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER
IT’S SIMPLE LOGIC-CAUSE AND EFFECT, IF THIS IS TRULY THE CASE THERE SHOULD BE INCIDENTS CASES ETC. THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY LITTLE GIRLS THAT HAVE BEEN HURT THAT DIDN’T EVEN PARTICIPATE IN CHEERLEADING AND DANCE
IT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING ON THIS BLOG FOR A WHILE AMERICA, MORESO AND SPECIFICALLY WOMEN ARE CONDITIONED TO BELIEVE THAT IF THEY ARE A VICTIM THAT MORE THAN LIKELY “THEY” DID SOMETHING TO CAUSE IT THEREFORE IT’S THEIR FAULT
DON’T DANCE THAT WAY, DRESS THAT WAY, ETC. OR SOME MAN WILL HURT YOU, WELL WHAT DO YOU TELL THE LITTLE GIRL WHO DIDN’T DO ANY OF THESE THINGS WHO WAS RAPED, KILLED, ETC. WHY IT HAPPENED TO HER???
@Intense…you dont think this type of dancing can lead to kids thinking they are ready for sex?
When I was 8 honey, I hunched. I remember being aroused and scared shi.tless because I didnt understand the feeling. What if I hadnt been scared?!?!
I know plenty who werent scared. You going on and on about teenage pregnancy and whatnot but you cant see the correlation??
Late as usual lol but i finally saw the video…and I’m sorry…it was inappropriate. The girls have skills, but they could of come up with a more age appropriate routine. They lookedl ike they could of been working at a club in Vegas…thats nto what they were going for.
AND HOW MANY OF YOU WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET GROWING UP TALKING ABOUT ROCK STEADY
…whoever did knew that sh!t stayed in the street, moms would knock my teeth out if she saw me doing it. If the parents don’t teach appropriate behavior them girls won’t have no reservations about jumping on a pole thinking its cute. The outfits were too skimpy and to many them moves were inappropriate for little girls.
Damn I waited all day for you to post this Sandra and fell.asleep before I saw it. This right here was pure ignorance. I saw it on another site and was posting about it and it was a clear generational gap. The younger kids felt it was okay, common for dance while the older posters felt that there was nothing routine about it, that regardless of how good the dancing was there was no excuse gor the outfits and adult moves. I’m about to read the comments and what you said Sandra to see if the same things are being said here. My 9 year old dances and actually has a competition this month. They are wearing black leggings with black tops that fully cover the stomach area and there dances are nowhere near as adult as these ones but they are just as talented. The choreographer of this routine shamelessly gave into the sex sells movement and the parents either didn’t know or didn’t care. There are two city cheerleading squads where I live that cheer for the local youth ball leagues. My older daughters both wanted to join since their school doesn’t off cheerleading but I wouldn’t allow it because there’s been a massive movement in the city, people are pulling their kids out, several coaches have been fired because the dance moves they were teaching the youth were the same moves you’ll see in the club Saturday night. Even with the new “cleaner” cheers, I don’t trust them to lead my girls because until parents started fighting back, the city got involved and they felt reprecussions for what they were teaching the youth the advisors leading it thought it was okay. Parents need to be involved with every activity their child does, many use extracuricculars as after school/weekend care and don’t realize the kids what the kids are doing until they see the competitions or whatever. Smh its a damn shame
@Ms.Everything – Yes, it is a shame. What you just described is what I would call responsible parenting. I’m shocked at the adults that felt there was nothing wrong with the dress and dance routine. I know we all have our own points of view, but where does it stop? The stripper pole? I wonder how many people would cosign this mess if they saw this children on the stage simulating oral sex? It wouldn’t surprise me if someone would pop up and say, “Ah, people are making too much of a deal about it, blah, blah blah.” It’s scary! This is the world our children are growing up in, and some parents don’t have the sense God gave a Billy goat.
Okay I just finished reading all the comments and I’m at a loss so I don’t care if its so late no one will see this I’m still gonna say it. After reading and commenting on this last night on the other site I thought that the differences between those agreeing wuth the parents and those who felt it was inappropriate was the result of a clear generational gap which is why I wanted you to post this so bad Sandra cause I just knew that the older more mature readers would see the real problem here so I’m shocked to see so many on here approving this fluckery. It has nothing to do with race religion or whatever and everything to do with parental incompetence and lack of morals within this country if this can be looked at by adults and thought to be normal, only slightly obscene, or tame compared to what other kids are doing or have done. My three daughters don’t dance like this, the younger ones think dancing is jumping up and down and twirling, my oldest doesn’t know how to pop anything and when she comes home doing the latest ghetto dance she learned from school she is immediately popped. She knows how to praise dance, she knows the little jazz/ballet mix dance that she’s taking in school none of them know moves like these or how some of you are describing. I’ve said it before MY kids don’t watch music videos or listen to none of these songs and they don’t go to anyones house who allows children to watch or listen to that garbage. My oldest although she is developed she has a childs mind and she thinks most of these dances look “stupid and gross” and that’s exactly what I want her to think. Growing up my mother wasn’t strict on music like I am but she didn’t play when it came to children doing hoochie mama dances and she would be quick to smack the shit out of her child or niece and send any fast tailed girl dancing like that in her house straight home with instructions not to come back. I didn’t grow up in the type of family where they thought it was cute for little girls to dance like grown women and they never encouraged that kind of mess so maybe that’s why I am like I am and see the problems with this “routine” that others seemingly are missing. Someone said that people grow up and forget that they used to be kids too and do some of this ish and I haven’t forgotten at all. I remember school dances and the girls who would be freaking on the floors and in the corners. That was never me and most of those girls had babies before we graduated high school. @Ms. Truth, I remember the majorettes and dance squads in high school and yeah they did all kinds of stuff but they weren’t wearing lingerie while doing it and they were at least high schoolers. These kids aren’t even in the double digits yet. I was a cheerleader at this age and we wore a sweater with pleated skirts and shorts underneath. We did our cheers, minimal dancing and that was it. I remember a lot of the shit I did as a young girl and even though nasty ghetto dancing wasn’t one of them, most of what I did ill be damned if my children do. That’s part of being a good parent, teaching and guiding your children so they don’t make the mistakes you made growing up. Just because these girls are dancing like this in a professional competition and are non black doesn’t make it right that they are under 10 dressed in ruffle bras and panties dancing period. They’re doing spins, kicks, popping body parts in lingerie for judges with men and women in the audience and now men and women worldwide watching. There’s no way you can excuse this. If it was just the dance then maybe, maybe I could say risque but whatever but even Beyonce wears more than this at her concerts and she’s a grown ass woman and she wore more in the video they got a lot of the routine from. Yeah I wrote a book again but I can’t believe how many are cosigning this nonsense or just writing it off as a sign of the times. When will people start standing up for the children in this country and put an end to this madness? Have we become that desensitized by the constant sex sex sex in the media that nothing fazes us anymore? Or is it because they’re not “our” kids that makes it okay to simply write off. These same kids will one day be in high school or college with your sons and daughters. These same kids will one day be leading this country so we should care what they do just the same as with our own and if these kids were black it’d be a different story and different comments. Its not just dancing. There’s a way to dance, have fun and be appropriate and there is a way to dance and look like a skank. This is skank regardless of talent. Smdh
@ KrayZ you are one of the few today making perfect sense. And next it will be a child simulating sex because practically all that can be done to shock and disturb has already been done. I’m so sick and tired of this nonsense being labeled as okay. The world is going to hell in a handbasket and me and mine will not be going. I don’t care if it kills me but I’m doing everythubg in my power to ensure that my kids and those kids that I do have influence over do not grow into adulthood thinking the way of the world is okay. I wish more were like you and I but I have had it, something must change and soon because enough is enough and if these so called parents, educators and leaders aren’t going to step up and do something about it then I guess I have to figure out how starting with my own family
Hey ELove,
Have a great week!!!
