Talk Diva Oprah Winfrey’s exclusive interview with Katherine Jackson aired yesterday after weeks of hype and build up.
The interview drops a few gems, such as clips from private home movies, Katherine’s recollection of the day Michael decided to get a nose job, and when she forces Joe Jackson to admit he whipped Michael with a belt.
Michael Jackson’s adopted children, Prince Michael I, Paris Katherine and Prince Michael II (Blanket), joined Katherine and Oprah later on in the segment (Part 3). Oprah even interviews Jermaine’s baby mama and their 3 offspring.
I was hoping Paris and Prince would mention how Michael dyed their hair blond when they were younger to make them appear more Aryan. Or whether they thought he was really their biological father. But I guess that would have been too much to ask.
The interview was pre-recorded at the beautiful, sprawling Encino family compound where young Michael and his brothers and sisters grew up after the family moved to the west coast from Gary, Indiana.
The mansion is now home to Michael’s adopted children and Jermaine Jackson’s baby mama and 3 sons. I remember when Michael paid the mansion off for Katherine after Joe Jackson left his mother for another woman. Joe and Katherine eventually reunited.
Critics say Michael would have strenuously objected to his children’s appearance on Oprah — especially since she practically labeled him a child molester while he was still alive.

I watched the full interview yesterday and while I really don’t like Oprah I really enjoyed the interview. Mama Jackson seemed to be honest with her responses and there is such a quietness about her that was really touching. Those children may not have been Michael’s biologically, but he was the only dad they knew and obviously they were happy with him.

Other than a short clip that I saw on T M Z, I refused to watch this yesterday and I won’t watch it now. MJ dedicated a lot of energy into keeping his kids out of the spotlight, and I think that was one thing he did right with them.
Joe Jackson is a lying bastard and Katherine isn’t much better these days. Let these kids be. Give them a chance to come out of their childhood a little less flucked up than the ones you raised. Please and thanks.

I never hear the media referring to Tom Cruise’s black child as his adopted son! He raised him from a baby and that is his child. Please Sandra stop with the adopted business. Those were Michael’s children and he loved them dearly as they loved him as well! Michael was a great entertainer, humanitarian and father! We should all strive for greatness! Joe is funny to me and his kids love him w/o Joe there would be no Jacksons. I think he did the best he could but clearly missed the mark at times.

i enjoyed the interview. i liked how katherine was honest with her answers and how joe kept it real. yeah he beat his kids but his kids aint been to jail and thats saying a lot coming from gary. also the mjs kids while they seem to understand why they were treated how they were by their father, they seem to be enjoying having a more normal life being with other kids and the such.

I too am not a Oprah fan but what I saw from the interview the kids look happy.

I watched the interview yesterday and loved it. Katherine was much more honest than Mike’s azz ever would have been and Big O did a good job.
I also see star quality in that little Paris and think she’s going to be quite beautiful the older she gets. She’s already pretty to me but just imaging those piercing blue eyes at about 25! She’s going to be gorgeous!

I don’t like or dislike Joe. I think he just really did what he thought was thhe best to keep his kids out of trouble. It’s just like he said in the interview. Each kid just takes to things differently. Some kids are more sensitive than others and some just think, “Hey, I got my a** whipped but maybe that’s why I’m so successful today.” I don’t know.
I actually think his intentions were good but his kids may not have been the types that needed those kinds of a** whippin’s. My mama apologizes to me all the time for spanking me as much as she did. She says she was young and that’s what she knew so that’s what she did but she also says that I really wasn’t a child that needed that. The funny thing is I don’t even remember half of the whippings I got and I could care less. I always tell her, “Well maybe that’s why I’m not cracked out, with a bunch of kids, broke as he!! somewhere.” Hahaha! It obviously worked for me.

I was raised in a family that used whoopings as a form of discipline. They also used verbal and emotional abuse to keep us in line. That was worse than any hits I might have taken.
In fact, I only remember two really bad azz whoopings I got as a child, one from my my and one from my grandmother. I deserved them in both cases. But I haven’t forgotten any of the mean, hurtful things that I was told to my face.
Some kids do need a hand laid on them; I have a problem when that sort of discipline turns into regular physical abuse. That’s what I believe Joe Jackson did and what Katherine Jackson allowed and I can’t co-sign those type of methods.

And I get it from my madre. She is the exact same way. Thing is though, I know its wrong! Like @Yso just said, when I was coming up as a child, all my madre did was walk around ranting and raving and cussing and saying evil things. Cant tell you how many times I was called a “little bit.ch”. My pops would always say “If you act like your mother, you’ll never be able to keep a man.” And I’ve been doing better. I pray more and started back going to church regularly. But yesterday I just had a meltdown. I’ve been dealing with so much stress from this job, and our big boss (he’s very unhappy with me right now and he’s not making it easy for me transitioning to this new dept.) and I just kinda lost it

I’ma have to disagree with you on this one. For one, it’s common knowledge that most white children are born with platinum blonde hair and it may remain that way for up to two years and then that person end up being a brunette.
My second issue is that you keep referring to those children as Michael’s “adopted children” and I think crossing the lines in terms of adults is fine – do what you do, but to suggest that those children are adopted without knowing whether THEY know that they are adopted (or even IF they are) is more than irresponsible.
You can f*ck with a lot of people, but I think their KIDS should be off limits! I think Mike would have more of an issue with people with a voice (read: a google search away) not being more responsible in reporting news about his children’s “biological parents”.
WHY is it not OK for people to report to “other” adopted children that they are in fact, adopted, but it’s OK to do it to Michael Jackson’s children?
Sooo not cool.
How do you know that those kids don’t believe that Michael Jackson was indeed their dad? Do you know what FURTHER damage it could do to them to find out through people like you that he may, or may not be? “They” did enough to tear Michael apart, please don’t YOU be the one to start the trend of helping create further issues for his kids. Because the first time one of them smokes a joint or gets high, you’ll be one of the first to post, “See?!? I told you!” while forgetting that you contributed to their “issues”.
Lastly, I’m almost sure that Michael wouldn’t have approved of them being on TV, but he also wouldn’t have approved of them going out to the movies with their cousins, or going to public school.
I think the general consensus is that Michael claims that he was effed up BECAUSE he didn’t have friends, BECAUSE he didn’t go to school, BECAUSE he didn’t have a sense of “normalcy” outside of the family, so, it’s clear to me that raising his children the EXACT same way wasn’t necessarily the smartest thing to do.
@Flo…I just been doing some major business deals and other life changing crap. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t such an honest businesswoman…then I would have gotten my Bentley last week. Now, I’ll just have to wait for God to bless me with what He wants me to have.
And I totally agree @ ALBoy, and be putting him down and degrading him is NOT what I should be doing, when all he does is try his hardest to make me happy. His precise words: “The more I do to make you happy, the more you give me your a$$ to kiss”.

Often times it’s difficult to deprogram certain behavior especially if it’s something we’ve seen all our lives. Although our parents may have displayed certain behavior and habits, us re-enacting certain behavior doesn’t make it right. You are on the right track because you recognize they way you fly off is an issue. Understand that this is a process and it’s gonna stop overnight. Talk to your man and try to explain to him the reason why you fly off. Let him know that you understand he’s tired of it but you are working to change. Last but not least, ask for his patience while you’re in transition. We here at Sandrarose know you love your man and recognize that he is good to you however if you continue to “fly off the handle” or “lose it”, you are gonna send that man running for the hills. Now be a big girl and tighten up!!!

@Flo its good to apologize but evetually you will have to really deal with your issues. Holding everything in is not working. I am sure if you talk to him before the pressures of life build up then it will help the situation. What i learned about me is that for me not to fall into the same trends as My dad was to pray and ask for Gods help because i know that i can’t do everything on my on. I always mess it up but the more i tend to depend on him the easier that part of my life is.

Katherine looked beautiful, I caught the second airing of the show late last night. She is aging gracefully. I was cracking up when she said she did not believe it was lisa marie on the phone when mike put her on the phone after he explained that he had eloped. She thought that Lisa marie sounded like a black girl
. Also, it was funny when she was like, “black folks believe in whipping thier kids”. I totally understand where Joe was coming from when he said he did not “beat” michael, he did not want it to seem like he was just straight up abusing the kid, there is a diffrence between discipline and abuse. I think he was very strict and whipped his kids, he made a good point…None of his kids ended up in jail and they were all successful in some form or fashion. He is just old school…Even mike admitted that if it werent for his father he would not be who he was. It broke my heart when Kathrine kept apologizing for crying, poor lady

do i think joe emotionally abused them kids? nope and who knows what he did in his home besides him and his kids. realistically the majority of the kids lead normal lives and out of 9 kids to have only a few slightly off the rocker is a pretty good feat. and most of that u can attribute to being in the business. mj more or less had his childhood taken away and thats more of the root of his problem than anything joe personally did to him. jermaine is slightly off but some chalk that up to him having a jealousy of his brothers spotlight. latoya just a lost cause but the rest of them are pretty normal. joe might have not had textbook methods of rearing your children but he came from an era were it was the norm and that era as a whole was a whole lot safer than it is now. also the world would not know MJ and the genius that he had had it not been for Joe

do i think joe emotionally abused them kids? nope and who knows what he did in his home besides him and his kids. realistically the majority of the kids lead normal lives and out of 9 kids to have only a few slightly off the rocker is a pretty good feat. and most of that u can attribute to being in the business. mj more or less had his childhood taken away and thats more of the root of his problem than anything joe personally did to him. jermaine is slightly off but some chalk that up to him having a jealousy of his brothers spotlight. latoya just a lost cause but the rest of them are pretty normal. joe might have not had textbook methods of rearing your children but he came from an era were it was the norm and that era as a whole was a whole lot safer than it is now. also the world would not know MJ and the genius that he had had it not been for Joe

Two brothers married the same woman and had kids w/her. Grown men living at home w/their wife and kids is not an option unless they are taking care of mama, not her financially taking care of them. We didn’t know Janet was married for 10 yrs. until she filed for divorce. Laytoya has had many plastic Surgerys but is the first sibling to air the families “dirty laundry”. Michael thought he was Peter Pan. Joe Jackson is a old azz pimp. Wasn’t one of the Brothers working at a Gas Station a couple of Summers ago? This is normal behavior if you like in Hickville US of A. LOL. They are “The Jackson’s”. This is not normal living.

I watched this yesterday and it was a great interview. HIS children looked healthy and happy. I don’t know why I would have never thought that Michael Jackson cooked, since a lot of famous people do.
I heard so much about this, I have to watch it when I get a chance.

What the worst part about this is when Katherine said it was time for her to go home @the hospital, when Paris said “Gramma where are we gonna go”?… That was so sad.. MJ raised some great kids!!!
