The passing of tragic political wife Elizabeth Edwards bumped Celine Dion and her twins off the cover of the current People magazine — and rightfully so.

I’m sure Angelina Jolie will go after The National Enquirer with guns blazing after this cover hit newsstands yesterday. Why do they keep trying her? The National Enquirer should know that Angie doesn’t play when it comes to her kids. Not for one second do we believe she raises a hand to those adorable children. Angie is no Kate Gosselin!

The cover also features the National Enquirer‘s exclusive report on Aretha Franklin’s cancer diagnosis — which no one believed until her family confirmed it today.

The gorgeous Kerry Washington – who stars in this month’s ‘Night Catches Us’ – tells L.A. Times magazine she fell in love with political theatre during the 2008 presidential election (Obama has appointed her a member on his Committee on the Arts and Humanities) and how an interest in the arts saved her as a kid growing up in New York City.

“I come from a socially aware family,” Washington says. “Affirmative action or a woman’s right to choose or gentrification—these were things that were talked about all the time at the dinner table.” – Cover Awards

Celine Dion joins the inconsiderate group of celebrity moms who shoot cover photos with their newborn trophies – and not the children who came before them. I will never understand why they do that. They don’t consider the feelings of their other children, who are equally as important as the new arrivals. Celine introduced her twin boys, Nelson and Eddy, to the world with a cover and exclusive feature in Hello! Canada.

Actress and philanthropist Jane Fonda is furious about her recent V cover. “I hate it. They airbrushed all of my character. I look like a monster. I always say don’t retouch, it looks foolish. I’ve had some plastic surgery but I didn’t take away my crow’s feet, for heaven’s sake.” Wonderwall.com
