@ Anna…also women do it (especially hispanics) because they want to keep their family name…some may not have any other siblings, therefore keep their maiden name…but most likely in her case…hispanic and she had a “career” before being a basketball wife

I added my husband last name to my last name a yr after we were married. It’s easier to drop one last name when you have two vs, trying to get your old last name back. LOL.

I understand that, but a name change is a name change..it can change as far as your career as well. I think divorse rate is up because we don’t go back to biblical values when it comes to marriage. Marriage is a gift from God and it should be structure the way God designed it..Career is great, but when you are married you are a wife first. If you aren’t ready to submit and be a wife first then a career women, then you aren’t ready for marriage. That is the way God designed marriage and when we get away from that, it is just starting off on the wrong foot…. just my opinion, but Im glad you responded.

It’s just a name. I have been at my job for over a decade. One lady has had three diff last names. It cost $10,000 for a new sign. I don’t think a new husband is going to get mad if a woman decides to keep her maiden name because that’s what ppl know her by in her field of work. If I got divorced I would keep my married name because that’s how ppl know me in my line of work.

That’s true but if the parents ONLY have one female child does she just let the name die once she gets married? Some choose to keep it around.

I understand how people would want to pay homeage to their earthly father, but what about your TRUE CREATOR? Your Abbba! I think paying homage and respect for him will go way further. There is nothing new under the sun. God knew there would be situations where people and family names may cease to exist, but obedience was not designed to be comfortable. Luke 9:23 Deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow Me (Jesus). When he said deny yourself…u know it is going to things you think is best for yourself, but you will have to follow Christ and be obedient.

Things are changing. Even the Pope says it’s ok to give out condoms. Are we not to attend a wedding because folks have their bio kids as their ring barrier and flower girl. Women don’t get married at 15 and their only purpose in life is to be a housewife. Women are building a name for themselves long before they get a husband, are they to throw that away for the sake of a husband and getting a new last name. How many times has Elizabeth Taylor been married, yet she’s still Elizabeth Taylor? No shade. i dont think the magnitude of your career means anything. marriage was instituted a certain way. no matter how society changes and what they start to accept the principle on which it was founded doesnt. same with the bible no matter how much society accepts lesbians and gays the bible views on it are there in black and white. we live in an information age it would be as simple as informing everybody hey im no longer ms jackson im now mrs johnson and that be that.

It does if your maiden name was used to build your career. Like I stated earlier, one chick has had there diff last names in a decade.(I lied about the decade This is my 12th yr. My first 4 yrs she had 3 diff last names.(maiden name, married and then married again)each sign cost &10,000 If your name is on the door w/a Neon sign and you built your business around your(maiden) name, how they gonna find you if you have not only moved your business to a different location but changed your last name. What I do for a living ppl come and go. I can have a customer for 5 yrs. customer can leave for a yr but decide to come back. If they can’t find me because I not only moved but am not using the name I started my business with they will never know I am still in business, if they are looking me up in the phone book or may drive by the office and not recgonize the last name on the sign and never put two and two together that it’s me. Unless you are bad at your job and have not built a reputation in your business your name is not going to matter if you change it. I am not going to keep spenidng $10,000 because my last name keeps changing. I say keep the name you started your business with. I understand what GOD intended but who is really going to mess up their money over a name change if ppl already know who you are by your business name. Demi Moore is still Demi Moore, that’s her business name/money maker. Demi was never called Demi Willis or Demi Kutcher. Just making my point. Most woman will change their legal documents, but if they start a catering business under Molly Browns Bakery, do you think when they get married they are going to change the name to their new husbands? LOL. I typed all that and I only needed to mention “advertising”.
