The “charred” body of a 3-year-old boy was found inside an oven in a Greenville, MS apartment by police responding to a disturbance call in the early morning hours on Thursday. The child’s mother, Terrie Robinson, 24, was charged with his murder.

According to Washington County Coroner Methel Johnson, Tristan Robinson sustained head injuries and other trauma that occurred sometime before he was placed inside the hot oven. Police say the body was “Still warm to the touch” when it was removed from the oven just after midnight.

The toddler may have been asleep when he was placed inside the oven. Johnson said an autopsy would be conducted Friday to determine the exact cause of death.

Police also found a little girl who was uninjured inside the Greenville, MS apartment. She was placed in the custody of Mississippi Department of Human Services.

News of the child’s horrific death sent shockwaves through the community. Terrie Robinson’s twin sister, Sherrie Robinson, feared the public was rushing to judgment without hearing all of the facts.

“She was a great parent, a good person. We don’t know what’s wrong,” said Sherrie in an interview with WXVT-TV. “We don’t know what happened. Do not sit there and call her a bad mom cause that’s not what she is.”

Terrie Robinson is being held on $5 million bond.
