According to media Guru, Jawn Murray, Oprah’s struggling OWN Network has ordered up 10 more episodes of its #1 rated show ‘Welcome To Sweetie Pies’.
According to STLToday.com, ‘Sweeties’ averages 388,000 viewers per episode, up 73 percent from a year earlier.
The show follows owner Robbie Montgomery — a former original back-up singer for Ike & Tina Turner — as she serves her mother’s soul food recipes at her popular St Louis-based “Sweetie Pie’s restaurant.
Miss Robbie, who at age 72 has never been married, was in Atlanta yesterday attending the 2011 Soul Train Awards with her family. Her oldest son, Tim, who helps run the business, told blogger Tami of Talkingwithtami.com that he was incarcerated for 10 years and turned his life around when he got out. Tim and his girlfriend, Jenae, have a son who was born prematurely during taping of the show [Thanks, iscream].

There’s black people on the OWN network?
“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers,” the president wrote in a letter, which the Rev. Al Sharpton read at the service, The Associated Press reported.

Isn’t it funny how spunky and cute single women are in their 70’s- marriage is not all that, makes you old and tired trying to deal with men.

Anyone watch that short-film, Something About the Johnson’s? Don’t. Tortured my soul.
I love the show!
Just watched a episode on YouTube it seems like a pretty good show
Never seen it.
@ lovezoe I watched it :/
@EB what did you think?
@lovezoe, I watched it twice and it left me scratching my head. It was different.
I an still thinking about it! So many unanswered questions. Definitely leaves you thinking. The director talking about a comedy. Didnt find one part funny.
@La I had to skip through parts, no way could I have watched it twice. Did you think the dad was mentally challenged or something?
@lovezoe, I just had to watch it twice to see if I missed something the first time around because it was so bizarre. I didn’t understand why the father allowed his son’s behavior to continue from prom night into adulthood. I definitely thought there was something mentally wrong with the father. He was deathly afraid of his own son and he acted like an abused spouse. I couldn’t believe that the mother kept silent until the father’s death. The son’s wife had to know that there was something off about his relationship with his father. This definitely wasn’t a comedy unless the director has a warped sense of humor.
The mom said something about realizing it was before prom. It was toyally weird. On your wedding day though?! I just don’t think dad was all there, even from the first scene. It left me speechless and NOTHING makes me speechless.
@ lovezoe I thought it was good. Don’t get me wrong I was disturbed and the bathroom scene left me 0_o but it was shot nice and had good acting. The father almost had me in tears. The son looked like Tyler perry. I have so many questions. Did the dad start raping the son first, and did the son grow up and overpower his molester? What happened on prom night? I don’t understand why the director called it a dark comedy. I cringed the whole time. I wonder if SR will post it
@latech & lovezoe the sons wife had to know that dude was batshyt. The mom pissed me off. She heard him screaming and just kept turning up the tv. I was pissed. The scene of the son physically coming out of the bathtub, soaking wet, and pulling his pants up was very disturbing. I think the boy got the wrong impression when his dad talked to him after he was masturbating. The father didn’t know he was doing it to his picture, and the father said “it’s okay everybody does it, including me” I think the son thought that his dad was doing the same with his picture and his dad had the same feelings he had.
I don’t think the father started it, the son’s wife knew he was bonkers. She seemed to be a very good girl who never wants to rock the boat. When he said she was staying instead of coming home, did you see her face? The movie just leaves you thinking and talking. Mom gets a MAJOR MAJOR side-eye. The scene at the wedding, she fix her face and keep moving like she saw the help sneaking food or something.
I watched that video earlier and I felt like I was about to have a nervous breakdown. I was like “What the hell did I just watch?” I hate I watched it. What I couldn’t understand is why the dad didn’t just fight him off? I think the dad felt like he was responsible in some way. That wedding scene had me like this
like why the hell didn’t she bust through that damn gate. Like you all, that short film left me with so many questions.
Thank you Auntie for the shoutout about Sweetie Pies…I didn’t know about it and will be tuning in Thanksgiving Day to watch the marathon!
And I want to thank everyone that shouted out about the “Johnson” movie…I just watched it…great cinematography…magnificent acting…compelling script…tight and fluid direction and a story that will have my mind tripping for YEARS to come…
And for me…that’s what a good movie is all about!!!

I concur
Great! Just as long as it doesn’t get as ghetto as all of the other reality shows, I will continue to watch. The moment, it gets overly scripted or people start acting like hot ghetto garbage, I will never watch it ever again!!
Otherwise, I love this show!!!
I watched the show for the first time this weekend and loved it!
Robbie does not play and has so much personality. I will be tuning in from now on.
i love that show
