The self-proclaimed King of the South, rapper T.I., graces VIBE magazine‘s year end Dec. 2011 issue. It’s a good thing this is a holiday weekend or T.I.’s publicists would be working overtime trying to put out the fires that his mouth ignited.
T.I. had a lot to say about The Gays who currently wield the balance of power in the entertainment industry. Most of what the rubber band man had to say about The Gays was selectively edited by VIBE magazine.
T.I. on all Americans having equal rights:
“Man, I will say this, the funniest joke I ever heard [comedian] Tracy [Morgan] say during a stand-up was, ‘C’mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a dick, you can take a joke.’ [Cracks up laughing.] That shit was funny to me. And it’s kind of true. They’re like,‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.’ … That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace.’
But T.I., 31, did have some strong words for rapper 50 Cent and others who criticized his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, 36, for not taking the drug charge that sent her man back to federal prison for 11 months.
T.I.: “I’ma tell you, 50 Cent and anybody else, we not gonn’a have no discussion about what my ole lady should’a, would’a, couda done for anything as it pertains to me,” begins his rant. “We ain’t gonn’a do that. I’m the only one in my family that’s gonna take a lick when it pertains to the legal system. Since me, none of my other family members have seen a jail cell. Nobody. I’m the last one. The buck stops here. I feel that a person that stands behind [his woman for a criminal charge] is a coward anyway.”
VIBE: I doubt she would have gotten any time.
“T.I.: She wasn’t gonna catch it period, ’cause I’m there. That wasn’t even a consideration. Even if she asked me to I would’ve been like, “Nah, you trippin’. “So you didn’t feel you were more valuable to your family, employees and business partners on the street?
T.I.: “That’s a discussion between me and another man. Not with the mother of my children. Not with the nurturer of my household.”

I agree with TI on the drug charge. What man would let a women, especially the mother of his children, get a charge for his garbage? If it was her drugs, then yes throw her to the system, but I don’t know who started this foolishness. If you’re facing three strikes, keep your ass clean. Only a low self-esteem idiot would go to jail for her man. It’s not like he’s going to be sitting a home being faithful waiting for you.

Hewett and Mori Molina were both indicted in Miami for driving dirty with a kilo of coke in the trunk of his Benz. But Howard hurried up and married Mori, and she took the rap for him and served federal time. All charges against him were dropped. As soon as Mori was safely behind bars, Howard was photographed out & about with other LSLH women. His career went south shortly afterwards.

I was prepared to be offended by anything T.I. Says, but sadly I agree: people today are too sensitive. You should be able to say what you want without some entire group demanding an apology. I think if individual gays choose not to support that person, fine – but I think it’s stupid of people to allow a group of people to polarize them by TELLING them to be offended.
As far as 50’s response, he made sense too. If she was getting probation, who cares, particularly if Tip was looking at natural life because he’s been to jail more times than he’s been to college. He gets props for taking care of his woman… But I see both sides here.

T.I looks different in that pic but in a good way. All I will say is that I admire how he defends his wife but I disagree with his actions. You can’t treat a prison as a revolving door but then try to convince your fans that your trying to do better.
By the way, I saw Takers for the first time this weekend. He was a terrible actor in that movie

Wow… I actually agree with what TI and RoseBud83 said. I don’t get why it’s “funny” to make fun of obesity, stereotype jokes and all that, but one thing said about somebody being gay is “hate speech”. I see both sides of the argument. I get what 50 is saying. TI is the breadwinner of the family, Tiny doesn’t have money coming in. When TI not making money, no one is. TI ALSO JUST got out of jail on a serious, serious charge where anyone else would have still been trying not to drop the soap. He got out of jail and riding dirty with a known felon-when he was not supposed to, AND riding dirty. Another no no.
What people fail to realize is, TI still would have went to jail whether Tiny would have copped to the charges or not. TI did what a man would do that cares about the mother of some of his children.

I’m coming in late but while I agree that he was right to take the charge because she is his wife and the mother of his children at the same time he’s still wrong for putting him and her in that situation in the first place. A man would’ve never been riding dirty and high through Hollywood knowing he just got out on a fed charge, a man would’ve never put his wife and family in the position where taking a charge is even on the table and a man would never be caught in a magazine defending his decision to take the charge and stating that makes him a man because a man wouldn’t have been there in the first place
T.I. stick to music, stop trying to educate folks with hood bs and just do right for once. A man doesn’t need to talk about what makes him a man cause his actions alone should be testament to that.
