A great photograph captures a moment in time that is ingrained in our memories forever. When we look at a great photo, such as the above picture of Notre Dame junior running back Cam McDaniel, we don’t take into account the lighting, angle, exposure, quality of the lens glass, camera aperture, shutter speed, etc. But all of those factors can (and do) affect what we see. Scores of women (and gay men) are swooning over this photo of McDaniel running through a defensive line, with a movie star smile, after his helmet was knocked off.
This photo of the Ridiculously Photogenic Running Back has already inspired Internet memes and marriage proposals. What women (and gay men) see is a gorgeous, dreamy hunk of a man similar to the one in their dreams. Then they Google what he really looks like and they snap out of their blissful, dreamlike state and smell the coffee.
