A family cat is being hailed as a hero after she saved a toddler who was being viciously attacked by a dog. The boy was riding his tricycle in the driveway of his Southwest Bakersfield home on Tuesday when he was attacked by a neighborhood mongrel.
The dog chomped down on the boy’s leg and began dragging him down the driveway. That’s when the family cat Tara lunged herself at the dog and chased it off the property.
The boy suffered puncture wounds to his right leg that required stitches. He was treated and released from a local hospital.
Surveillance video was uploaded to YouTube by the boy’s father, who titled the video “My Cat Saved My Son.”
The dog is currently under observation, most likely to determine if it has rabies.
