It was a shocking sight more common in European football than American high school football. 2 Texas high school football players coordinated a blindside attack on a referee during a high school football game.
Police in Marble Falls, Texas, are considering what, if any, charges to file against the John Jay High School football players.
The 2 football players were suspended from the team and from school.
"It is not the good sportsmanlike behavior that we teach students," said Pascual Gonzalez, chief spokesman for Northside schools. "Northside ISD will not tolerate this kind of behavior."
Gonzalez said the district will review the film and interview coaches and other players before addressing the incident further.
Some observers speculate whether the coach instructed the boys to attack the referee after he made a bad call that went against John Jay High School.
