Michael Strahan is fed up with co-host Kelly Ripa‘s antics behind the scenes and on the air. Ripa’s hostility toward Strahan turned up a notch during Friday’s taping of “Live With Kelly and Michael”.
Ripa was blindsided when Strahan announced he was leaving “Live” for greener pastures at “Good Morning America” 2 weeks ago. The 45-year-old former soap star threw a hissy fit behind the scenes and refused to show up for work for several days last week.
When she did return to the set, relations between her and “TV husband” Strahan were strained.
Ripa even took an on-air swipe at the 44-year-old, twice-divorced retired NFL star.
“There’s a great article in the paper, and I want to get your take on it ’cause I don’t have a take on it, but I want yours,” Ripa said. “So, um, you’ve gotten divorced…”
Ripa went on to discuss details of his divorce and “bird’s nest” custody arrangements, as Strahan sat stone faced.
For his part, Strahan kept his composure. He stared blankly at the camera before managing to crack a joke.
Earlier in the week — days after Ripa’s rambling speech about “respect in the workplace” — Strahan turned in his 2-week notice. ABC announced he was leaving “Live” four months earlier than he had planned.
The search for Strahan’s replacement is ongoing.
