Laverne Cox continues to push the tranny and cross-dressing agenda in a new scripted television series, Deadline reports.
Cox, who was born Roderick Laverne Cox in Mobile, Alabama, will play a transvestite/cross-dresser in upcoming CBS legal drama Doubt, it was announced on Saturday.
The 31-year-old Orange Is the New Black star who has a fetish for stereotypical feminine attire, will be a regular character on the show, making him the first tranny to star as a regular cast member on a mainstream TV series.
Cox is the first tranny to be nominated for an Emmy Award.
Doubt features Katherine Heigl as a “smart, chic, successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm [who] starts to fall for her charismatic client, who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime,” according to Deadline.
Doubt is produced by Grey’s Anatomy‘s Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, and also stars Steven Pasquale.
