By now you’ve probably heard about the clandestine shipment of $400 MILLION in cash that Obama sent to Iran for the release of 4 Muslim Americans.
Obama administration spokesman Josh Earnest was grilled by the press corps for 20 minutes about the shipment of $400 million in cash to Iran under the cover of night.
The $400 million was stacked on wooden pallets and loaded onto an unmarked cargo plane for the flight to Iran.
This is the same Obama administration that repeatedly said it was not policy to pay ransom for the release of Americans captured by ISIS.
One can only imagine the pain of American parents whose sons and daughters were beheaded by ISIS. Some of those parents were willing to pay the ransom to save their children. But the Obama administration ordered them not to pay the ransom.
It wasn’t just the fact that Obama sent $400 million in cold cash to Iran — it’s the fact that the $400 million is only the 1st payment!
Obama agreed to pay $1.3 BILLION in American taxpayer money to Iran for the release of the 4 Muslim Americans.
Here’s a transcript of a tense exchange between Josh Earnest and CBS News reporter Margaret Brennen at the press conference today:
MARGARET BRENNAN, CBS NEWS: It would be easy for you to kill the argument [that there is anything suspicious about the payment] by saying this is exactly how it happened and why — not just: Trust us there is nothing shady about a plane arriving in the middle of the night loaded with cash. Which is, you’re saying it is innuendo. Right? You’re saying nothing was done that was not above board. So why not?
JOSH EARNEST: I guess the point that I’m trying to make is, we could not possibly have been more transparent about this arrangement than to have the president of the U.S. announce it to all of you on live national television on the day it took place.
MARGARET BRENNAN: The date the agreement was reached and the intent to pay to $1.7 billion, yes. But the details, you’re saying this is a new detail on an old story. I guess, clarifying the detail is what would help–
JOSH EARNEST: But why is that relevant? Why is that relevant? Particularly when we all know there is no banking relationship between the U.S. and Iran, so again
MARGARET BRENNAN: That is why there was a cash transfer–
JOSH EARNEST: I understand the political attacks that are being made by people who are trying to justify their opposition to the deal–
MARGARET BRENNAN: At a minimum the $1.3 billion is taxpayer money? Don’t people have a right to have an answer to that question?
