A Charlotte area nightclub that came under fire for allegedly discriminating against black people was destroyed by rioters Wednesday night.
News footage shows protesters breaking into the Kandy Bar, smashing out windows and throwing furniture around the club.
The riots started as a peaceful protest to the fatal police shooting of an armed black man on Tuesday in Charlotte, NC.
The Kandy Bar, a private all-white nightclub located in the upscale EpiCentre, has a members only policy. But critics argue that the club admits white people without a membership.
After the story broke this week, the club’s management strenuously denied discriminating against black people.
“We take these allegations very seriously,” management said in an email sent to Qcitymetro.
“As a member of the Charlotte community, we have zero tolerance for discrimination and harassment.”
In an interview with Fox News, the Rev. Jesse Jackson defended the looters by saying banks are the biggest looters in America.
UPDATE: The man wounded by gunfire during Charlotte’s riots last night has died. Apparently his life doesn’t matter since he wasn’t shot by a cop.
