The Republican National Committee dismissed controversy over a Christmas press release that calls Donald Trump a “king”.
After referring to the birth of Jesus Christ, Trump’s new Chief of Staff Reince Priebus says, “this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new king.”.
It’s the part about the “new king” that has Democrats and other critics alarmed.
Some critics say the RNC’s Christmas message was nothing but a cheap publicity stunt designed to leave the leftwing news media foaming at the mouth.
RNC communications director Sean Spicer dismissed the controversy, saying the part about the “new king” is clearly about the birth of Jesus.
“Christ is the King. He was born today so we could be saved. Its sad & disappointing you are politicizing such a holy day,” Spicer tweeted.
