President Donald Trump kept his campaign promise to repeal the Trans-Pacific Partnership, ex-president Barack Obama’s signature trade policy.
With the stroke of a pen on Monday, President Trump withdrew the United States from the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal brokered by Obama.
Trump made repealing TPP a key part of his platform in the early days of his campaign.
TPP was a trade agreement between the U.S. and member countries of the European Union (EU) that benefitted the member countries by lowering tariffs and lifting barriers to trade.
Ex-president Obama claimed the trade deal would “promote economic growth” and “support the creation and retention of jobs”.
But President Trump argued that the trade deal would cause job losses in America and increase the outflow of American taxpayer dollars to other countries.
But it wasn’t all good news from the Oval Office.
On Friday, Trump angered homeowners when he signed an Executive Order removing the pending Private Mortgage Insurance rate cut that had been signed by Mr. Obama in the days before he left office.
Last week, Mr. Obama signed an Executive Order reducing the PMI fee by 0.60 percent, a savings of $500 on FHA-backed mortgage loans.
An hour after Trump signed the Executive Order, HUD announced it was suspending the pending mortgage insurance fee cut.
PMI is a monthly insurance premium that is paid in addition to the monthly mortgage. It protects the bank in case home buyers default on their loans.
Homeowners complain that by removing the insurance premium reduction, it will cost an average of $500 more a year for PMI insurance.
But in reality, Trump’s action will only affect home buyers who pay less than 20 percent down on a FHA mortgage loan.
Trump’s action will not affect home buyers who make down payments of 20% or more on homes priced above $419,000.

You can still do it with 3% down FHA loan..your PMI will be 500 more annually…about 42 per month.
and you have paid 80 percent of appraised value or refinance. We got rid of pmi of last year for a rental. YES LAWD but not primary residence.
But it’s a buyers market right now, and homes are staying on the market longer, I’m talking a year or more. If you don’t pay 20% down on your loan (regardless of the price of the home), mortgage insurance comes into play. You can either pay it monthly or you can pay it all up front in your down payment which is usually the cheaper option.
The thing that she forgot to mention is that the insurance has always been added if you don’t pay 20% down.. President Obama was giving some help for the payment of insurance…. Trumps took that away??????

The TPP was a terrible deal. It would have further undercut businesses that actually produce here in the U.S. and hire American workers. Bernie Sanders smartly pointed that out during the campaign, while Wall Street Hillary at one point called it “The gold standard”.
The PMI reversal is an awful move by this administration. Most Americans who still owe a mortgage own homes that average about $200-$300,000 nationwide, and many of these folks paid about 5% down on their homes; that extra money they’ll end up paying to cover insurance could present a hardship for more than a few working class and middle class American homeowners. And that’s a shame.
yeah it’s actually not as expensive to travel anymore if you do it right. with things like air bnb, uber, hailo, rideshare apps etc, the amnt you spend on travel accommodations is drastically reduced. plus there’s so many sites now that have awesome travel package discounts.. i learned the best tactics to travel cheaply and even with all my bills and being broke LOL, i can get a couple trips abroad in each year. just go off season, book on a wed-thurs, and if you can.. do one way flights as those tend to be cheaper. do air BnB or rent out a room using sites like lingobongo or idealista [or other apps/sites for your target country]. this is best too cuz if you have a host [i know it’s a bit weird at first], they can recommend some stuff to do that’s not so touristy and if you travel alone like i do, you have a ready made acquaintance to go out and do stuff with.

The alternative to the TPP is a trade deal that does not include the US. China has already in place deals with Australia, Russia, Japan the Philippians and all the other countries surrounding it. As flawed as the TPP deal was there isn’t going to be better one.

the amount you will owe depends on how much you borrowed. deferring your payments extends the life of the loan and means you may accrue more interest if it doesn’t qualify as a govt subsidized loan. [if it’s a govt loan, the interest rate could be subsidized so it may lower the amnt you’d pay in interest.. either way, this means you’ll pay more over a longer time span]. even if you defer the loan, you can still pay interest so i’d start off doing that if i could to at least pay that down. they will definitely work with you; they have different payment plan options. you can repay on an income based level [a monthly fee that is based on whatever your income is–ie if you have a low income, your monthly fee will be quite low in comparison to someone that makes more than you. you have to submit tax info to validate whatever your income is], graduated repayment plan, or standardized [this is a flat fee for the accumulation of all loans, ie whatever the total amnt comes to and is the highest].
i chose graduated after i had to begin paying them back. this means your amount gradually increases every 3 years or so as it expects your income to rise as you get older. i think my monthly fee started out as 115 a few years ago, but it is about 430 now, however, i also paid off two loans that equaled about 3-5K in a lump sum erratically a few years ago, so i’m sure if i didn’t do that, my monthly fee wld be a bit higher. if you can, my suggestion to you is to make a budget ASAP to accommodate the loan. if you can still live with your parents rent free, DO IT. if not, go live with roommates to free up some of your income [also, this helps with networking for job opportunities!]. it will suck and you may have to cut corners, but it is soooo worth it. also, go talk to a financial manager at a bank… join a credit union and invest in some mutual funds. this will generate some extra income for you that may help you further down the line.
btw, lol these are all my lessons learned from my early twenties [i’m in my late twenties now]. and these are things i wish people would have told me early on.

[if it’s a govt loan, the interest rate could be subsidized so it may lower the amnt you’d pay in interest.. either way, this means you’ll pay more over a longer time span]. even if you defer the loan, you can still pay interest so i’d start off doing that if i could to at least pay that down. they will definitely work with you; they have different payment plan options. you can repay on an income based level [a monthly fee that is based on whatever your income is–ie if you have a low income, your monthly fee will be quite low in comparison to someone that makes more than you. you have to submit tax info to validate whatever your income is], graduated repayment plan, or standardized [this is a flat fee for the accumulation of all loans, ie whatever the total amnt comes to and is the highest].

I remember back in the good ol’ days when the standard down payment was 10%. I had hoped President Trump would reinstate the 10 percent down payment for those of us who have been trying to buy a house for years. ?
But many Americans do not have 20 percent to put down on a mortgage above 419,000. That is about at least 83,000. Therefore, many more Americans will be affected than unaffected.

There are several good down payment assistance programs for first time buyers including the Sapphirre program. Home buyers should research their city website for more information. With good credit and debt to income ratio buying a single family home is fairly easy. Multifamily is a hot mess, I had to put down over $60,000 because Bush cut the programs for multi family down payments. I keep telling people to get the single family NOW, use down payment assistance and covert to duplex. I just know Trump is cutting those assistance programs soon.
OK! I do credit repair for free for friends. I got my friend in California all ready and she is pissed because the homes she is looking at are in the 500k range I think realter said the trump thing will cost her upper $1500 more so I think that 500 figure is a National average.

That was the dumbest statement ever it won’t effect any Americans that pay 20% of the cost of their home over $419,000. That is more than most people can afford so those well off purchase homes for those amounts. Not to mention FHA mortgage are primarily for low income families to have home ownership and in most cases avoid having to come up with the cost of putting down an exorbitant amount of money to purchase a home. This bill benefits white collar not most middle class or lower income Americans as has been of concern this whole election.

i did… it didn’t look as good to me because the interest rate seemed sky high. my interest rates are low right now, and they are fixed at whatever the rate was when i first took the loan out versus the current going rate now. also, in order for that to work, i believe they have to be government loans versus any kind of private ones. but i’d probably have to go talk with my financial advisor. i have a home being built, so in the interim i’m crashing with my parents and just paying a large amnt for the next six months to bring my loan down to only 11K so i’d be able to pay it off within 5 years versus the 10.
