Today’s Word of the Day is brought to you by Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé Knowles. The 35-year-old mother-of-3 used “Profundity” in proper context during her prepared Grammy acceptance speech on Sunday night.
Beyoncé won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary album for Lemonade.
Reading from her prepared statement, Beyoncé said, “Thank you to the Grammy voters for this incredible honor, and thank you to everyone who worked so hard to beautifully capture the profundity of deep Southern culture.”
Profundity (pronounced pruh-fuhn-di-tee) means showing deep insight of knowledge or in-depth thought.
Beyoncé, who is pregnant with twins, shut down all critics who said she was unable to read above a 5th grade level. It was a pleasant surprise to hear Beyoncé read so fluently and not mispronounce any words.
