Joshua Thomas, son of NBA legend Isiah Thomas, is speaking out about a crime that has gone underreported in the gay community for too long: forcible rape.
Thomas, who goes by the nom de guerre DJ Zeke, spoke out in a sexual prevention PSA video about his experience at the hands of another man.
He also spoke in graphic detail to NYmag.com.
Thomas, 28, said he was raped in his Chicago apartment by a man he met on the gay dating app Grindr last year.
“Nothing against Grindr. I’ve met great people on Grindr I’ve had sex with great people on Grindr. I can’t blame an app. But you don’t know sh-t about people you meet on it.” he said.
Thomas said he hung out with the man in a recording studio, then several days later, he hooked up again with the man for a drink at a bar in Boys Town, a gay neighborhood in Chicago.
He said the man slipped a date rape drug in his drink. “All I remember is… getting in the cab. I know that I got drugged… It was literally like with Bill Cosby. When those women were like: I woke up and he was fixing me breakfast or whatever.”
Thomas described what happened next:
“My ass was destroyed. Destroyed. I’m bleeding. And I’m just like–terrified. I can’t move. I didn’t move from my apartment for two days. I didn’t move. I didn’t talk to anybody. I froze.”
Thomas is the latest in a long line of celebrity children who have come out as gay, bisexual or transgender, because their famous parents weren’t there for them.
