Embattled U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice abruptly canceled a planned speech and Q&A in New York on Saturday.
Rice is under fire for her role in helping the Obama administration spy on incoming President Donald Trump’s transition team. She is accused of lying about having no knowledge of the surveillance and the unmasking of transition team members.
Rice, who was Obama’s National Security Advisor, was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a women’s conference on Saturday in Rochester, NY.
“An Evening With Susan Rice” included a VIP reception followed by a speech given by Rice and a moderated discussion and Q&A with the audience.
Tickets were selling briskly at $25 a pop until hours before the event when the organizers announced Rice’s appearance was canceled.
The organizer cited a vague “ticketing error” for the cancellation.
On Saturday, Rice once again denied ordering spreadsheets containing transcripts of legal phone conversations between Trump and his aides.
But former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova said Tuesday that Rice’s denials “would come as quite a surprise to the government officials who have reviewed dozens of those spreadsheets.”
