I live in what has become the hood. i bought my main house and a rental before the area went completely to hell. I hear gun shots 1-2 times a week. I hear police sirens different hours of the day or night typically.

Because I’ve lived in other parts of metro ATL that weren’t highly populated with black folks, I can say there’s a huge difference. Nope, I didn’t hear ANY gunshots ever. I didn’t hear sirens all the time. Also, my car wasn’t stolen from my driveway (or homes constantly broken into) while living there. Crime happens everywhere but you better know there’s a drastic difference in insurance premiums we pay when living in black areas vs white areas. It has nothing to do with race, but everything to do with crime.

I’m ashamed to say this but I’m black and I’m afraid of hood black men and women. When I see them, I go the opposite way and grab my purse. Some of them have made their way into my community and have decided they like to shop there. The other day, I spent 35 minutes behind an unorganized young grandma (whose wild ass grandkid was running everywhere) who was paying for groceries in five different ways using debit and Wic cards. Sigh. I pay too much money to be exposed to such ghettoism.

It first starts in the home and how kids are being raised which molds them into the adults they become. Well last year the dumbazz stabbed someone and as usual his mother and father got some money together and paid off the victim.

To stay out of jail all this idiot had to do was show up for court ( on time) for a couple of the hearings but his pot head behind couldn’t do that and the judge threw his behind in jail for being in contempt of court because he was TWO hours late.

I have told my friend not to even talk to his mother because she is internalizing that mess and it has caused her stress-related health problems.

He may still be in jail but guess what—he’s the only one who can figure it out. No one else can force him to get his ish together.
