Kerry Washington‘s husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, landed a role in the movie Crown Heights, which opens in theaters for a limited release on Friday.
In the movie, which won the Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Asomugha plays Carl “KC” King, a Brooklyn man who is wrongly accused of murder.
At the peak of his NFL career he earned a reported $60 million with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The former three-time Pro Bowler was unemployed for years after being waived by the San Francisco 49ers in 2013. The popular cornerback signed a one-day contract with Oakland for $1 so he could retire as a Raider in 2013.
He met actress Kerry Washington and quickly married her in 2013. The couple fell pregnant not long after.
The fairytale love story would have ended there, but Washington will soon find herself out of work after ABC’s Scandal ends its run after 6 seasons.
Kerry and Nnambdi have a hefty mortgage and two mouths to feed, daughter Isabelle, 3, and son Caleb, 10 months.
Asomugha attended the New York premiere of Crown Heights without his famous wife (who stayed home with the kids) on Tuesday, August 15.
