Troubled rapper XXXTentacion will spend Christmas behind bars after prosecutors charged him with 7 new felonies in connection with his 2016 domestic violence case.
The 19-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was in a Miami courtroom Friday morning for a hearing on charges of battery and false imprisonment of a pregnant woman.
TMZ.com reports that Onfroy’s attorney provided the court with a signed letter from the victim who stating she no longer wanted the rapper to be prosecuted.
But the judge ignored the letter, and reminded the rapper that he violated his bond from his initial arrest. The judge immediately sent him to jail, where he is being held without bail.
Onfroy will likely remain behind bars until his trial next year. He faces decades in prison if convicted.
Onfroy is the second high-profile rapper to be sent to prison in as many months.
As you know, rapper Meek Mill will call a Pennsylvania prison home for the next 2 years for multiple violations of his probation stemming from a 2009 weapons charge.
