LeBron James fired back at Fox News host Laura Ingraham who suggested he stay in his lane and leave the politics to the professional pundits. The fireworks started when LeBron and Warriors star Kevin Durant appeared on Cari Champions’s “Rolling With the Champion” segment on ESPN’s Uninterrupted.
“The climate is hot. The number one job in America, the appointed person is someone who doesn’t understand the people. And really don’t give a f— about the people,” James said of Trump.
LeBron added “While we cannot change what comes out of that man’s mouth, we can continue to alert the people that watch us, that listen to us that this is not the way.”
“It’s all about leadership,” Durant chimed in. “I learnt that from playing basketball.”
On her Fox News show “The Ingraham Angle,” Ingraham responded by telling LeBron to “just shut up and dribble.”
That led to LeBron’s former teammate Dwyane Wade and Philadelphia Eagles star Chris Long defending the King on social media on Friday.
LeBron responded by retweeting an image of a neon sign that read: “I Am More Than an Athlete,” and adding: “#wewillnotshutupanddribble”.
Durant, who was also chastised by Ingraham, said he thought what she said was “racist”.
Ingraham pushed back against the “racist” claim, saying she has said the same about white singers, actors, and comedians on her show.
Ingraham got in the last word, tweeting: “Hey King, Come play on my Court next week. You’re invited on the show anytime.”
