Becoming Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama’s memoir “Becoming Michelle Obama” is the fastest-selling book of the year with over 725,000 copies sold on the first day.

There were only 3 books left when your auntie picked up a copy of ‘Becoming’ at 30% off at the Barnes & Nobles in Buckhead on Sunday.

The B&N employee I spoke with said Michelle’s books flew off the shelves when it was released last week, but sales have since slowed.

Crown Publishing told The Associated Press on Friday that the sales figures included pre-orders of the books.

‘Becoming’ had the biggest opening day sales of any book in 2018 by Crown’s parent company, Penguin Random House, according to a report on The Washington Times website.

Crown Publishing increased the print run of “Becoming” from 1.8 million copies to 2.6 million.

“Becoming” received positive reviews, with The Washington Post praising the former First Lady’s “Impressive balance in telling the truth of her challenges while repeatedly acknowledging her lucky life.”

Only one book exceeded Becoming‘s sales this year: Bob Woodward’s “Fear: Trump ing the White House” sold around 900,000 copies on the first day.

‘Becoming’ also far exceeded first-day sales of Hillary Clinton’s book, “What Happened”, which explained her shocking loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 elections. “What Happened” sold 300,000 copies in its first week.
